The hostesses were very friendly, the savory food was great but the server was terrible (super slow and inattentive) and the sopapilla was cold and sad and took forever to come out. We probably won’t be back here because the service was bad.
My first visit there, I celebrated Mother’s Day and my daughters birthday.....The food was delicious but Margarita I had was a little strong I couldn’t finish it.....Otherwise it was an awesome visit......
Great place to go for Mexican food while in Denver. Good food, pleasant and efficient staff. Would definitely recommend this place.
The staff there was incredibly helpful and hospitable.
They have great margaritas and are fun place to go with friends. Wouldn't recommend taking friends you want to catch up with as it is fairly loud.
The architecture was cool. Service was good. The food was just so so. Not really flavorful and the tacos we had were dry. The queso just tasted like melted velveeta. It's worth a trip but wouldn't say its worth a second one.
Food and service was great but it was way to loud. Very hard to hear each other
It was busy and took awhile to get drinks, but the waitress did come by a few times to apologize that the bar was backed up. Drinks and food were great—will definitely come again!
We made reservations for 530. Had a play to go to at buell @ 730, thought that would be enough time but didn’t have food at 7 and we could not risk missing our play so had to leave without being served. Spent 15 minutes trying to track down a manager to speak with and no one could seem to find one. Awful experience to say the least.
I know this place has been slinging margs and food for years in a great location. If you want strong drinks go here. If you want good Mexican food go to D'Corazon across the street or La Loma across from the Brown Palace.
Kate is the best god damned server that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. They are a SERVICE. WIZARD. Perfectly attuned to my every whim and desire, delightfully charming, and a snappy dresser.
PROMOTE. HER. NOW. SELL THE RESTAURANT TO HER.
Food was not hot. Second time I have had this happen
I have been to both Rio Denver and Boulder over the years. We had a reservation, but still had to wait about 30 minutes. The receptionist was not overly friendly. Our waiter was good though! And the food fairly good. I have to say though, I remember the house margaritas being a bit better and stronger. Thus
the 2 drink limit. I had two and no reason for a limit as they were not strong at all.
Went here for brunch on cinco de Mayo 2019. Place was really packed. Luckily I thought of making a reservation thru open table. We had to wait a cpl of minutes in order to get an outside table but that wasn’t a big deal. Went by quick! Margaritas were really good! So we’re the tacos. There are a lot of choices for Mexican food but this seemed to be the best. I stayed across the street for my trip and this place was constantly packed!
We arrived right at our reservation time and the hostess was a little catty says, "well there are people ahead of you..." we were the only ones in the lobby and there were open tables everywhere. We waited 20 minutes after our scheduled time to be seated at the the table we pointed out that was open when we first arrived. The server was very friendly but obviously over worked as everything took a long time. The food was just ok but the margs make it worth it.
The restaurant is one of our favorite! It was a Friday and it felt more like a bar than a restaurant because of the noise. I just know I’ll probably try a different night next time.
It was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves speak. Service was okay although lengthy delays between drinks.
I would recommend it but it has gotten very expensive. Food and margueritas are still good though.
Second time I have made a reservation and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. If you make a reservation on a Friday or Saturday expect to wait 20 minutes after your time.
What a fantastic place! In from out of town and went on a Friday night. Very young crowd all seemingly enjoying themselves. How can you not?
The food and beverages were all excellent. We sat in the bar area and had a terrific time.
Too bad there isn’t a location in the Boston area!
Love the Rio! Amazing steak burrito with queso over the top!!!!
Food and margaritas were absolutely delicious. It was a bit loud, but that’s was part of the excitement! Great service!
Food was not good and the hostesses were incredibly rude. Also our waitress was fine for a real long time towards the end.
Green Chili Rellenos - Medium Hot - Go for it - Guacamole is always the test of a great Mexican restaurant, it Rio Grande passes with flying colors - Packed for Opening Day of the Colorado Rockies, but everyone happy and upbeat - Looking forward to my next visit
Our large party (8) was seated promptly, the server was friendly and attentive and the food was good. I appreciated the number of vegetarian options available.
Great food, great service. A bit loud. During the summer months you can sit outside, noise level is better.
Awesome place. Food was great along with the drinks. Service was excellent
Awesome place, the margs make it all worth it. Food, as usual is good but not the best... but maybe it's hard to make mexican food as good as the margs. The margin between taco bell and the best mexican ever is pretty slim. So maybe it is really good and I'm just being cliche and trite. I will go there again soon though, I tell you what.
I would definitely recommend Rio Grande to a friend, but this location doesn’t have anything on the Rio Grande in Greeley. If you are willing to make the drive go to Greeley, you won’t regret it.
Rio was delicious and so much fun for a birthday group on Saturday night. Maggie was an outstanding server who took such good care of our large group. The food was yummy and the margs are fantastic!
Usually enjoy the Rio but this was not a good food (overdone carnitas) or service night (sparodic). Drink (Agave Martini) was good. Had better times and hopefully next time will be better!
The food and the margarita's were very good and the service was top notch even though the resturant was vary busy. The only drawback was that the noise level was very high.
Our waiter was GREAT!!! He had a table of rowdy people who were ready to be loud and party and dealt with us in a very professional manner. He went above and beyond in helping us get amazing deals, get our giant food orders correctly distributed, knew it was my birthday and asked how we could celebrate (free sopapillas!!!). AMAZING first time at Rio Grande!!!
Very good food and the waitress was very friendly and made sure everything got to us in a timely manner.
Food was super . Noise level too loud
Excellent night out !! Our server, Katy, was outstanding. Very attentive, prompt and informative with regards to menu suggestions. Food was great. A bit on the noisy side, but overall, an awesome experience.
Loved it again. One of my favorite Denver restaurants was, again, up to the challenge!
Good food good service, and good margaritas
