I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. I’ve been to Rio a few times and this experience was the absolute worst. The food was salty! The inconstancy in the cooking was awful. The meat was either blue rare or tough. Everything tasted the same and the quality of the meat was poor. I don’t think I’ll ever eat lamb again I was so turned off by the gameyness of it, and I normally love lamb. Salad bar was awful. No variety and the piyaya was mushy. The serive in this place is the only reason it didn’t get scored a 1. Amazing service, food was served fast and with a smile and drinks were always filled. When you’re paying $40 a plate I expect way more than tough salty meat
Delicious food and great value especially when feeding a couple of hungry young men.
Very friendly wait staff and the food was amazing. Be sure to get a reservation! We wish we had made our reservation for a little bit later, as some different option just started to come out as we were wrapping up our meal.
Got off on the wrong foot when our taxi dropped us at their previous location on Denman st in Vancouver to see a notice in the door from the landlord. Phoned them and was told it was just a couple blocks up so my husband and I walked in the rain. Was definitely more than a few blocks up.
Was seated promptly and offered drinks. Got up and hit the side dish buffet and was not impressed. Everything lacked seasoning and taste. More information on what’s in the dishes would be helpful. Paella was bland, white rice was dry and coleslaw was so over dressed.
Meats came around regularly and servers were very pleasant but some of the meats were inedible with gristle and toughness. Also some very gamey tasting meats (which were beef so unsure why).
The dark chocolate custard was to die for though. The texture was spectacular, firm and smooth and not too sweet.
I love the Rio Brazillian. I go every chance I get, and I love it. The meat is amazing, and the salad bar is good too.
We are from Texas and have several Brazilian Steakhouses that we visit. I can honestly state this was the worst experience at this type of restaurant we have ever had. The table was not conducive to the waiter reaching 3 people to serve the meats. The salad bar existed of canned mushrooms, lettuce, a pasta and very few vegetables. The server did not even bring enough cheese rolls for the entire table. I had ordered a second bottle of wine and 35 minutes went by before he brought the bottle. We were almost finished with our meal. Definitely need to work on their food, service and image. It was the worst meal we have every had in 5 visits to Vancouver.
My wife and I have been to few Brazilian Steakhouses and this was our first visit to the Rio since moving to the Vancouver area a few years ago. The salad selections were varied and delicious while the meat was plentiful and flavourful but sometimes a bit on the tough/overcooked side. Service was quick and attentive and the Samba dancers provided some wonderful Brazilian energy to the evening. We'll definitely be paying a return visit.
I took my friends to celebrate my birthday on a Monday night and everything was just amazing. The salad bar was full of good food and the meat was perfectly cooked so juicy that we couldn’t stop eating. Our server was a lovely lady always smiling and she brought us a glass of sparkling wine just because it was my birthday. I felt so special on my birthday night and me and my friends strongly recommend this place. Good as always!
Food and service was excellent. Only downer was that dessert was extra and they only provide one serving of deep fried banana and cheese bread which were very small (not even appetizer size, more like tasting portion). But I would definitely go back again.
How would I rate my experience at Rio Brazillian Steakhouse? Disappointing! To be fair, I give most restaurants a second chance if I’ve had an initial disappointing first experience but not Rio. Went there for lunch to celebrate my birthday so was looking forward to a positive fun time with great food and drinks. Instead, the over-priced meal included a very limited hot buffet and salad bar that were not fresh or re-stocked and the meat service was not continuous. Numerous times the meat server never bothered to come to our table despite there being few lunch customers and our clearly displaying the “Sim por favor” green card. The restaurant lacked any ambiance of Rio and the food lacked any taste of Southern Brazil. The only saving grace was the well-made guava sangria and our friendly attentive Brazilian server.
Rio Steakhouse Churrasco was the real deal Brasilian experience! From the full buffet to the rodizio styled meats that came to the table. The Brasilian cuts of meat were so juicy and perfectly salted. My son, who is Brasilian freaked when they had chicken hearts (corações)!
Only bummer was they didn't have Mandioca, and I saw it in the produce section of the Grandview Highway WalMart. But that's ok, i still give this restaurant 5 stars!
Obrigado, muito bom!
P.s., my Son has already been back for Jantar since I left for home in Michigan Wednesday!
Lots of meat. Entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays.
After eating here, I am genuinely surprised at the negative reviews. We ate there yesterday with a larger party, which included two kids, one toddler one older. Everyone absolutely loved it. The food was amazing, everything we ate was incredibly, and it just kept on coming and such a good value for the price paid, especially in Vancouver. The dancers were fun and really helped to change the vibe. If you are going with kids I would recommend going earlier, as it is quieter (we went around 6ish, but stayed for the first dance show then left right after). We are definitely going back at a later date and time without the kids because we all had a blast.
Yum! We've been wanting to try this for a long time and finally made a group reservation for my husbands birthday. All the meat was cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. Definitely got our money's worth!
The food and the servers were fantastic enethough the restaurant was at capacity. Highly recommended.
That was the worse restaurant I have ever been in Vancouver. I went with my family for 2018 New Year eve. First we stept in we were ignored for 15 min. The food quality was terrible. Meet was so hard and tastless. The salad bar was mostly caned food which was not acceptable with the price that they charged.i was told over the phone at the booking time that they are going to have live performance for New Year eve, how ever they didn’t have even they regular performance. We paid extra for that. ( more than 400$) I will never go back to that restaurant and recomended.
Excellent service combined with dedicated staff makes for a wonderful evening of dining.
Really good Food and good experience
We went for a hangover dinner after Christmas and it was amazing . Our servers were super friendly and polite. They seemed to enjoy working together. We saw the manager running around helping as they were very busy. The meat was super tender and tasty and the dessert was very good.
Reservation for 13 in OpenTable was confirmed but was not recognized by restaurant. When we arrived, we were told that there was a private function and no record of our reservation.
Their restaurant was not open on boxing day. There was no mention of this anywhere on their website, phone voicemail, or on their door. Almost ruined a celebration.
The food was good. But, one of the waitresses with blond hairs has a terrible attitude to customers. All of my guests had very bad feelings and poor impression on Rio restaurant because of bad customer service. I would like to recommend the restaurant management team to find a suitable person.
Food and service was ok. Our table did not receive many of the cuts of steak and we didn’t know until after we were eating and saw them at other tables. Music was much too loud for the live entertainment it most definitely did not need to be that loud but was good entertainment. Waitress was very good about the seafood allergy in our group.
My boyfriend and I had a great time here celebrating my birthday on Sunday! We've been to Rio before at their location closer to Denman and West Georgia on a Saturday. Saturdays are more bustling, they have live music & dancing peromances, and they also have the ribs/roast tableside menu items. Sunday was more quiet, but I definitely enjoyed it as an intimate celebration. My waitress was great and brought us extra cheese bread as it's my favorite! I can't wait to come here again :)
The food is exactly like a restaurant in Brazil.
I really appreciate the food, the view, the service and ....have I said food?
The menu for dessert is to small. Brazil has so many options, I thought they would have more, but this doesn't ruined my time there.
The music was nice. All about love and surfing.
Thank you for your time
I brought a group of 16 kids and the service at the restaurant was amazing. Everyone was very welcoming and patient with the group, and the food was delicious. 10/10 will be recommending my friends to give the restaurant a try.
Their ox tail is a must try! We came specifically for it!
After a gruelling day in the hospital with my son, it was nice to sit down, laugh, and enjoy time with family.
Very noisy and almost impossible to talk, the music was way too loud and it was crackly canned music. The chicken and top sirloin were good but many other meats were tough. Service was good. The live dancers were a neat touch but that is when they would crank the bad music. It really took away from the experience. Louder is not better.
At first they called to try to put our reservation off for about 3 hours. We obtained the reservation through open table early the day before our reservation. We opted to go a half hour earlier than our original reservation time.
The meat that they advertised would be coming out to us, was not all available by the time we finally left which was over and hour and a half after we arrived for the dinner menu.
The buffet would not be anything I would recommend to anyone.
Fun atmosphere, but I would not say that the food was worth the price we paid.
