Rio Azul Mexican Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated immediately. Our waitress Raylee was very welcoming and patient with us as it us a huge menu and we wanted to explore all our options. We choose a grill for two that was a great sampler of many of the items on the menu. It was delicious. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants excellent Mexican food.
Just a terrible overall experience. It all started off with even when having an advanced reservation we were place at a two seat table to the back entrance to the kitchen. Seeing a lot of in and out traffic of that area, we asked to be moved. Where did they move us? We were reseated to a table at the front entrance of the kitchen with even more traffic. At that point I just said "whatever, let's eat. What happens next, the house margaritas are basically just all margarita mix. For a respected Mexican restaurant I would expect a true mix made at the time the drink is being made and not a pre made commercial mix. Next a chicken bone in the enchilada. A 1.5 inch sharp pointed bone. It was pointed out to our waiter, he took the bone back to the kitchen and we didn't see him again until we got the bill. Just ridiculous. No customer service at all. After all of that it's even hard to say how the food tasted with such a bad experience tainting the entire dinner.
Rio Azul is a predictably great place to go for any occasion. The food is good, and most of the portions are generous. The staff is one of the most friendly in Palm Springs, and they are always respectful and most accommodating. Highly recommended! Sit on the patio, if weather permits.
Great food and service. FOH needs improvement though. I had a reservation on a Saturday night. Restaurant was fairly empty but the hostess tried to seat us at the worst table by the service door.
This has happened before. Managment should do a little training on their front of house staff.
Really enjoyed this Rio Azul. I was looking for authentic Mexican dining and found exactly that ... great menu and enjoyed an outstanding entree - "Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo." Service was excellent, especially so knowing it was a busy evening for the restaurant.
Food was nothing rememerable. The hostess was rude to our party not welcoming and argued with us over the fact that we had requested a booth. With so many other choices for Mexican Food in Palm Springs this place is off my list.
The restaurant wasn't bad. We chose this location based off of others' reviews, but it fell short of our expectation. We had 6 pm reservations for a Saturday night and the place was empty. Within an hour though, the place was packed with 3 different bridal parties and once that happened, our server disappeared. We had to track him down after about a half an hour of not seeing him to ask for our bill. The food was good, but nothing to rave about. Once the place was packed, it got really hot and stuffy and their a/c couldn't keep up. A big deal for someone who is 7 months pregnant. In all, it was fine. I could go there again and like I said, we went based off of others' reviews, so maybe we had an off night. Or maybe it was just me and I wasn't feeling it that night.
One of our favorite restaurants in Palm Springs. We drive out to eat here and it never disappoints. Make sure to check with opentable to make sure there isn't a private event going on and get your reservation in before making the drive, as once we didn't check and ended up having to eat elsewhere which left us incredibly disappointed. Other than that, great food, drinks, and service.
