The best Mexican restaurant in Palm Springs.

We were pumped about the Drag Queen Brunch but upon arrival it was evident that it was just a tightly packed room with a blaring speaker and wildly underwhelming food. A majority of our group swore they were “Bridesmaided” after gastro troubles throughout the day. The performances were definitely entertaining, but bloodies should atleast have a celery stalk if nothing else. $16 for a quesadilla is essentially a crime. Actaully, a chicken quesadilla that tasted like pork was definitely a crime on my stomach.

Portions were huge and lots of different items on menu so good for a large crowd since there is something for everyone but best part was live harp player- seriously- we all loved it. Not what I would have thought for live music in Mexican restaurant but he was definite highlight of evening.

Rio Azul is our go-to venue for delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine when we visit Palm Springs. Fresh, lively flavors, generous portions, and outstanding margaritas, all served with huge smiles by a welcoming, efficient staff. Great ambience that keeps us coming back.

We had a wonderful meal again! The biggest issue was an drunken and rude man sitting next to us. He harassed the staff and security should have told him to leave.

Can’t beat a seat out on the patio, not to mention the retried beans and jalapeño margaritas!

We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated immediately. Our waitress Raylee was very welcoming and patient with us as it us a huge menu and we wanted to explore all our options. We choose a grill for two that was a great sampler of many of the items on the menu. It was delicious. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants excellent Mexican food.

A great place (except for the three loud bachelorette parties constantly come loaning about something—not their fault, though)

Just a terrible overall experience. It all started off with even when having an advanced reservation we were place at a two seat table to the back entrance to the kitchen. Seeing a lot of in and out traffic of that area, we asked to be moved. Where did they move us? We were reseated to a table at the front entrance of the kitchen with even more traffic. At that point I just said "whatever, let's eat. What happens next, the house margaritas are basically just all margarita mix. For a respected Mexican restaurant I would expect a true mix made at the time the drink is being made and not a pre made commercial mix. Next a chicken bone in the enchilada. A 1.5 inch sharp pointed bone. It was pointed out to our waiter, he took the bone back to the kitchen and we didn't see him again until we got the bill. Just ridiculous. No customer service at all. After all of that it's even hard to say how the food tasted with such a bad experience tainting the entire dinner.

While not necessarily the best known Mexican restaurant in Palm Springs, it is the best. Authentic food, great margaritas and a friendly atmosphere. The food is well prepared and the sauces are very good, regardless of what you order. We love going there.

Rio Azul is a predictably great place to go for any occasion. The food is good, and most of the portions are generous. The staff is one of the most friendly in Palm Springs, and they are always respectful and most accommodating. Highly recommended! Sit on the patio, if weather permits.

Great food and service. FOH needs improvement though. I had a reservation on a Saturday night. Restaurant was fairly empty but the hostess tried to seat us at the worst table by the service door.

This has happened before. Managment should do a little training on their front of house staff.

We came in with a large group and felt so welcome. The service and the food was wonderful. Finding a restaurant to please a large group is difficult and everyone loved Rio Azul. Can't wait to come back next time I am in the area.

Really enjoyed this Rio Azul. I was looking for authentic Mexican dining and found exactly that ... great menu and enjoyed an outstanding entree - "Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo." Service was excellent, especially so knowing it was a busy evening for the restaurant.
