Loved this place! Delicious Dodd and great cocktails.
Our fits experience was that the food is very overpriced for the actual quality. Carnitas are very dry and presentation is lacking, one of our dinner friends thought they were hash browns. The mole enchiladas are decent but not outstanding for $16.95 enchiladas! We are still curious to try the chorizo enchiladas though and the calamari appetizer was good. I do need to try the tacos, there is a lot more to try (the Parilladas sound really good but then so did the carnitas) but we usually judge a restaurant based on our favorite dishes and those didn't pass but it doesn't mean there aren't other good things on the menu. We may try again at a happy hour time. I think this place would probably work better for the happy hour specials, which is more in line with the quality you are getting. I give this a 72 out of 100, or 3 stars for this first visit.
Great food, awesome staff, enjoyed our meal!
We always enjoy dinner at Rio Azul. The food is our favorite Mexican food in Palm Springs. The Cadillac margaritas are a great value. The service is excellent. You can’t go wrong at RA. Temperature check at the door. Tables spaced well apart.
Good food and Drink.
Food and drinks are great; more authentic than other local Mexican food restaurants. The service is very kind, thorough, accurate and gracious. The Cadillac margarita is epic !
Rio was amazing as always. The salsa negra is the most amazing thing ever.
There are better option around Palm Springs to consider. Rio Azul fell short of the reviews on this site.
The food was ok, but was very disappointed in the margaritas. They were super expensive and tasted horrible. The regular Cadillac version was $11, but when upgraded to a reposado tequila they charged $18! And that was for a small drink! And someone in our party wanted mezcal and they charged $20, again for a small drink! If the drinks had tasted awesome maybe the price wouldn’t have bothered us so much. Really questioning if we will return.
This restaurant has the atmosphere of a family-run, neighborhood establishment. It's not fancy, but the food is OK and the service is friendly. When I dined there (for dinner), they had a Mexican harpist - quite unusual for me. He played and sang Mexican tunes. His technique and sound were like that of a guitarist - but on a harp. That added a warm and unique touch to the experience. Prices are reasonable. Wines are very basic.
Lovely, servers were great, harpist was a surprise & great!!!!
Great place for casual dining. Food was better than your typical Amercanized Mexican food.
Our GO TO Mexican restaurant in Palm Springs. We’ve never been disappointed here.
The food and margarita's were great. The food is a big step above the regular stuff you get. We were there on a Sunday evening and it was busy so the service was not the quickest, but the staff was great. You can tell that the food was not premade. The wait was worth it.
They are so friendly and the food is delish. Slightly expensive for TexMex, but they can be because of the location. BIG MENU. Lots of choices.
Pretty ordinary food. Everything needs up dating.
The staff was friendly and on top of it. Delicious Margaritas and some of the best enchiladas I’ve had (country wide)! Order the enchiladas poblanos - amazing!!
My family really enjoyed our meal. The food was very fresh and tasted great. We would visit on our next Palm Springs visit.
A "step up" from your usual Mexican restaurant experience. VERY warm and friendly staff, good service, and lots of food and drink from which to choose! There are MANY Mexican restaurants in the Coachella Valley, but this one provides just the right mix of good food, a festive atmosphere, a fun bar, and an environment that's great for a date or the whole family.
Waited 20 mins for a drink after we arrived. Food arrived before drinks. Asked for a second drink, which never arrived and had to ask to have it removed from check. Poor service and average food.
Great food and fantastic margs...what more can you ask for!
Food was quite good. Very busy, so service was slow. Our table for two was like an afterthought- stuck in an area that should have been an aisle, busy route for servers. I ordered a beer shortly after being seated but it never came. By the time the waitress finally checked with us, I told her not to bother. We probably would have been better off in the bar side instead of the dining room. There was a knife and fork on the floor near us that was never picked up. A waiter dropped a fork and kicked it the last few feet into the kitchen area. Two large groups of diners seemed to occupy the attention of most of the staff.
Authentic food and great service. Great Cadillac margarita and chili mango margarita.
All 4 of us were very pleased. The service was excellent.
Great atmosphere. The food was awesome. Had a party of 14 and they were very accommodating. Really great time overall.
Loved the patio and terrific service. Sadly worst chicken tacos ever. Why would you put them under a heat lamp or burner? Cheese melted into oily mess, chicken dried out and texture was totally off. Gross.
Great food and service!
Wanted to share our love for Rio Azul with out of town guests. The evening was such fun and the food, as always outstanding. Everyone enjoyed themselves and our guests were so glad that we went there. When you have out of town guests be sure to introduce them to Rio Azul.
My food was great. Some others liked theirs. My friend had a horrible meal - tortilla with a whole lot of onions and some grizzly chicken. We told the manager and she didn't care. We have come here for 3 years in a row. Next year we will find another place,
Fantastic food, excellent service. It was an awesome place to have dinner st.
We love Rio Azul and are regulars there; dining there 2 or 3 times a month. The food is top notch and the staff is exceptionally warm and friendly. We were there this time to celebrate our friend, Sharon, 80th birthday. We always take our out of town guests there. We love Rio Azul.
As always the best crab enchiladas, salsa Negra , chips and salsa can’t eat just one basket.
The Cadillac margaritas are the bomb.
Great service and food was delicious as always.
Had a great time at Rio Azul. The harp player was amazing. Food and service were excellent. This is our favorite Mexican food restaurant.
Very good Americanized Mexican food. Much better than the other downtown Mexican restaurants. We will be back!
This was the second time we’ve eaten here, and both times we’ve had outstanding food and service. We ordered the guacamole, which was made table side and was delicious. I had enchiladas with mole sauce and it was probably the best I’ve ever had anywhere. My wife had a burrito and that was delicious too. We’ll definitely eat at Rio Azul again the next time we’re in Palm Springs!
Rio Azul is the best!!!! We go there every time we are in Palm Springs and it never disappoints. Our server was amazing and the margaritas are so good! We will continue to visit and recommend it over other restaurants in Palm Springs.
Just busy busy night
