RingSide Steakhouse - Uptown Ratings and Reviews
Can’t beat the Ringside. The food, ambience, service, wine and drinks are the best there is in town. Been going there for over 40 years for fine dining and NEVER been disappointed. Onion rings a must! Don’t waste your money going to other steak houses - they can’t compare!
We began coming to The Ringside right after it opened, before we were married. They served the same, though smaller, crisp green salad in a faux pressed wooden bowl with the same fabulous dressing. As always, the onion rings were fabulous but I remember them being a bit more "oniony". Those we had the other night were a little bland....but still wonderful. The prime rib was so tasty and the creme bruele excellent. I love the $35 Monday Prime Rib so that we can bring the whole family.
My husband and I celebrated our annivesary and his birthday every year on Nov. 12 there. I still remember the maitre 'de who was there forever. I also watched him perform the Heimlich on a choking patron. Many happy memories for me. My husband has been gone for 5 years but the memories linger still. thank you !!!
We had the Porterhouse on this evening and I would rate it as just okay. It was a little tough and of our 24 ounce steak there was probably only about 10 ounces of actual meat. Of that the New York half had a lot of gristle. Overall it wasn't one of the better steaks I've had.
The restaurant is broken up into a bunch of smaller sections. Our table was very quiet and private.
There are better places for people watching, but if you need a nice place to take a date that's quiet and you can talk while getting a pretty good meal this is a good choice.
Visiting Portland for a friend's bachelor party and went to Ringside on a recommendation. Steaks were fantastic, highly recommend getting one of the dry aged options. Friend had an excellent martini and I had a decent old fashioned. A great, traditional steakhouse experience.
Had the dry aged bone in rib eye, very good but a little on the pricey side. Had the Ahi appetizer to start and ordered the lobster mac as a side. Barely touched the mac as I was already full but was very good also and the ahi was great. House wine by the glass the waitress recommended was so-so.
It was good but somewhat too traditional. Steaks have come a long way and what I missed was the crispy seared outside of my steak. The Wedge salad is wonderful as were the sautéed mushrooms. It is a good meal if you are looking for a very solid traditional steakhouse.
The best of an old-school restaurant. Took my mom and family for her 90th birthday. Ringside Uptown provided the perfect old-school vibe. Outstanding service, top quality cuts of aged meats, delicious steak house experience, and sincere careful attention to detail. I've eaten at many steakhouses throughout the world and Ringside Uptown can stand up to the best. What differentiated this experience however was the extraordinary level of service, and maybe that's just something you find in Portland. Nicely done. Note, I gave the food 4 stars instead of 5 because of my personal take on steakhouses, but compared to other steakhouses, it deserves 5 stars.
Every single thing that we had was delicious! Started off with the onion rings and some oysters. For the main course had the 34oz rib steak for two with lobster mashed potatoes. Quite honestly the best steak that we’ve ever had, even compared to high-end steak houses. I’m recommending this place to everyone I know and we will definitely be back for more!
Service was also excellent!
We were excited to celebrate my husband's birthday @ the RS but were disappointed
when we were seated in the wine cellar section where larger groups were thus it was very noisy. Our waiter was very good as was my dinner.
My husband was disappointed with his prime rib as it was grisly.
Over all, given the cost, our dinner was a disappointment from prior visits to the Ringside. Thank you for asking.
The quality of the Ringside continues to slide. They are still trying to survive on their original reputation as a quality steakhouse; it is not. What it once was.
Of three dinners we ordered, the prime rib was returned for toughness and lack of taste. The ribeye should have been returned because it was tough and didn’t taste good.
We won’t be back.
I have been a customer on and off since about 1955. In the past I have the filet but in the few visits it didn't ever seem to be cooked to my liking . I took my wife and son, he had filet this time and I sampled his and thought it was quite good. I had a NY (bone in) but there was no bone. I had it medium rare as I thought might be better than the medium that I usually have. It was tough (hard to cut) and not the flavor that I would expect from a NY strip stake. We visit Ruth's Chris from time to time and I feel they are a much better value and I have never failed to be pleased. It is painful to be so disappointed in the Ringside after all these years The ambience is still great but I am beginning to feel that is not enough. Fortunately our waiter "Dave" saved the evening as he was a lot of fun. My son's name is Dave the two Dave's carried the evening.
