RingSide Steakhouse - Uptown Ratings and Reviews
we had all eaten there before. we went with my brother and his wife, and all of us ordered the prime rib. my brother's food came served with a hair on his piece of meat. it. if he could see it, the chef and the waiter should have checked and noticed it also. he just cut off that piece and put it aside, as he did not want to spoil the meal for the rest of us. my wife's piece had alot of fat on it. by the time she trimmed it all off, she lost about 30% of it.
the waiter was outstanding. the place is decorated so lovely. the noise level was very nice. the whole ambience was quite pleasant and relaxing.
the dinner salad was outstanding, so were the lobster mashed potatoes, and the creme brulee.
Our reservation time came and we were immediately told that it would be a longer wait as our reservation for (7) people required a larger table to be vacated prior to our being able to be seated. After 15 minutes we were told that they were sorry, but the party had not vacated but was expected to shortly. We had ordered some drinks from the bar and were told that that bill would be taken care of. In the next 45 minutes we received no less than 3 apologies, and at 1 hour we were told by the manager that the party was courteously asked to vacate to allow for our being seated. We were seated approximately 15 minutes afterward, and arrived to a lovely table with complimentary champagne and appetizers. We appreciate the staff's efforts to make us happy with an unfortunate set of circumstances.
We had reservations and it took them 35 mins before they sat us the guy that was seating everyone walked up to me and asked me what I was waiting for I said are table he looked at the book and said he forgot about us that was my first there and my last time going there Im from California and a nice restaurant just don’t forget about you like they did to me
We went here to celebrate a birthday during a long weekend trip to Portland and RingSide had been recommended. Everything was fantastic! Delicious steaks, excellent service and the lobster mashed potatoes are positively out of this world! Love the old school ambiance. Would definitely recommend having a meal here!
Ringside is just doing everything right. The service (thanks Scott!) was impeccable, the food delicious, and the entire staff could not have been nicer. Sure, it's small and it can get crowded, but that's part of the magic of this place. We all had a great time, and this restaurant is one of the true jewels in Portland.
We were excited to try Ringside for the first time. The bar was sadly outdated, as well as the bathrooms. The Bartender was so busy with fulfilling table orders our drink glasses sat there, empty. Our server was robotic and insincere. The steak was not trimmed properly, it had a large tendon down the side of it. I wanted a different salad dressing and was told to “try it”. The table lamps are dusty and sad. After a $240 bill, I believe I should receive my salad dressing of choice and a properly trimmed steak. The other food items were delicious but it didn’t balance out; too many negatives overall. We will not return, nor would I recommend this establishment.
Ringside west is a great steakhouse restaurant, probably one of the best in the country,, certainly a top 3 in Portland
Service is great, atmosphere is great and quality of food is excellent. Great selection of steaks, appetisers and salads, good wine list. Each time I go here, I enjoy the meal and experience immensely,, its one of my favs for steaks. Menu is equipped with plenty of non steak choices,,, great place
We went to Ringside to celebrate my Mother's 75th birthday and it was an excellent experience as it always is. Our waiter - Wayne - was very attentive and friendly. My brother and I had the three course supper of surf and turf and the food was very plentiful and delicious. With that meal choice, we received a salad, our meal consisting of steak and three prawns that were so large, they were the equivalence of having six prawns, and a nice size baked potato. For dessert, we had crème brulee. We also ordered as an appetizer Ringside's famous onion rings. The meal was very filling and so very satisfying! I look forward to going there again for the next special occasion in our family.
Rare sibling reunion so we decided the retro vibe would be perfect for a splurge. We were right! Lovely table viewing fireplace without getting too warm. Server Susan was spectacular! Highlights were Dirty Martinis, onion rings and entrees. (I will make slight complaint that the Prime Rib cut has changed since days gone by and not quite as luscious as before.) Sommalier recommended a fantastic Zinfandel that didn't break the bank. We had a grand evening and it lived up to expectations. May return next time. Thanks to all!
Where do I even begin to rave about Ringside? I brought my lovely mother here for her 70th birthday dinner. We were seated at a booth across from the fireplace as requested. I had previously ordered flowers to be delivered from Sammy's, and asked for a small seafood platter be on the table, as well as champagne, upon arrival. Ringside delivered; the flowers, the seafood platter, and Veuve Clicquot were waiting for us at the table. We both ordered the special; that night it was a Delmonico steak, on a bed of cheesy risotto, accompanied with seared scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection. We also had a side of my favorite lobster mashed potatoes, and baked, creamy spinach. By the time dessert rolled around, we were just barely able to split a crème brulee with a birthday candle in it. Ringside knows how to do crème brulee, that's for sure. My mother was so incredibly happy, the meal and the ambience ere perfect. A very special thank you to our server, Colin, and also to Kalani for making sure everything was perfect. I'll be back next time I'm in Portland.
It was our 34th anniversary, we were welcomed with Happy Anniversary, the service was excellent, the food over the top. The prime rib was the best we can remember ever having. The filet medallions were perfectly cooked. The valet parking service made going uptown a pleasure instead of a hunt for parking spaces. Be prepared for paying for this excellence, however it was worth it.
My son's friend, a Buddhist Priest from Japan wanted to have authentic American cuisine, so this steakhouse came to mind. We had a fabulous dinner, with great food and the best service I can ever recall. Our server kept me from ordering too many appetizers and I appreciate that. All the servers were patient with our friend since his English is limited. The noise level is a little lower than the popular trendier places which is a huge plus for me. We could actually talk around the table without shouting. Highly recommended.
Can’t beat the Ringside. The food, ambience, service, wine and drinks are the best there is in town. Been going there for over 40 years for fine dining and NEVER been disappointed. Onion rings a must! Don’t waste your money going to other steak houses - they can’t compare!
