RingSide Steakhouse - Uptown
Book your next event with us
We had a table of seven, and we all compared various steakhouses around Portland and this one… By far… Is the best.
Wonderful, as always!
Another superb dining event at an iconic ‘old school’ & nationally recognized steak house.
Our small group experienced exceptional service & close attention to details in a very comfortable, refined & ‘elegant’ environment. No searing bright lighting, ‘modern sci-fi’ type decor or inappropriate brash background music here, thankfully! Our reserved tabled was available almost immediately. Food was perfectly prepared & as everyone had requested to individual taste. A magnificent wine list offers a marvelous choice. Service was pleasantly attentive but not over-bearing. Overall, just a great, memorable experience. No wonder Ringside continues to be such a popular steakhouse choice.
Excellent food and service, the kind of place to dress up for a special occasion.
Our dinner was perfect. Our steaks were truly medium-rear just how we ordered it. Our food was delivered hot too! This is truly a place that loves their jobs. It shows in the gourmet food down to the impeccable service too. Highly recommend.
They sat us by the swinging kitchen doors and the back room doors. Wait staff was running in and out of both of these sets of doors ALL evening. It was a very disappointing location in this restaurant. The worst seat in the house. Steaks arrived and the runner asked us to slice into our steaks to see if they were done to our order. I have never had this asked of me in a steakhouse before....this is a restaurant that should know how to cook a steak...they were raw inside. Had to send them back. The runner must of known there would be an issue. The waiter comped us dessert which was nice but the experience was less than what I expected of Ringside.
We were sat at a very small table that barely had enough room for your plates and two people. There was a party going on behind us that was loud. My wife rated her steak the filet mignon as very good and I would’ve rated by ribeye as a below any store bought steak. Parking is very limited. Servers can only move as fast as the amount of tables they serve. I felt our server was courteous but I also felt like she could only as attentive as possible as to the tables she was working. I noticed it around us for special occasions people had desserts brought to them etc. our special occasion was not recognized and it was our 40 years Anniversary. We were in and out in less than an hour with dessert. I would say the overall value for the product delivered was below average for the cost. I am not sure if this is normal or if this is something that just happened by mistake.
My first time at Ringside Steakhouse. I was very happy with the service and my food was excellent. Would highly recommend to my friends.
We have been going here for years and the food has always been excellent. This visit was different. They had trouble getting our steaks cooked properly, and the lobster mashed potatoes were not very tasty and were a bit cold. My wife and I had the shared bone in ribeye and it was exceptionally fatty. A $600 dinner should be a great memorable experience and not a disappointment. Maybe this was an off night but none of us were happy with the food quality. There are many other choices (we drove up from Salem and Rudy’s steak house there is way better) and we will struggle coming back.
Best steak I have ever had! Will definitely be back for more.
Wonderful service! We asked to change tables and they were more than accommodating.
Service was excellent, although the steak and lobster could, and has been, made at home just as well. Main drawback is that is it is getting very expensive. Our bill for two, with tip ($50), was $300.00. Starts to make us think about options in Portland.
Our favorite pdx restaurant, Steaks were cooked to perfection and matched with a bottle of ridge montebello cab. my idea of a great evening with my best friend.
We had dinner there on 12/3/19; the service was nice but the food was not good. I ordered the pumpkin soup and it was too thick for soup; more like a pudding and so heavy with cream I could not eat it. My friend ordered spaghetti squash which she could not eat either. My man (it was his 70th birthday) ordered the chicken though I tried to talk him out of it, and he said it was o.k. but to me it looked too heavily breaded and greasy.
All told, I would not eat there again but Richard likes the prime rib. For a very modest meal, only part of which was really edible, $168.00 feels like a gouge.
Standard bearer of what a steak house should be.
Outstanding service! We made a reservation for our anniversary and we have no regrets for our first experience at Ringside. The onion rings were delicious and crispy, our steaks were cooked perfectly, and dessert was divine.
Great meal as always. One of our favorite steakhouses in Portland!
I hate giving this review. Every year I travel to Portland to do some shopping and this is the Saturday night stop. The food this time was abysmal. The service was excellent from the valet, through the front door and all the way to the bus staff. However, my filet mignon was bland, my baked potato was mushy, my béarnaise sauce lacked the creamy texture I expect. My boyfriends Ringside Fried Chicken was glistening in grease from across the table. I could literally see it.
The ambiance of the restaurant hasn't changed and it is still a great/romantic environment. I'm not exactly sure what happened to the food. It has always been so good in years past. My onion soup was delicious but everything else was flat and disappointing. I'll go back, in the hope that it was just a fluke, but food like that again and I'll have to find another go-to steakhouse in Portland. C'mon Ringside. Get it together. You're messing with my tradition.
This was our 3rd time visiting, the 3rd time celebrating our wedding anniversary, and after trying other (steak) restaurants RingSide has proven to be the best in the Portland metro.
With the kitchen refurbished an updated menu appeared; the addition of the Chef's Tasting Board was a stroke of genius, because it is *that* good, and the steaks are, of course, still great, along with the various side dishes; the wine list is comprehensive and contains something for all different discerning tastes.
The only negative point this time is because we were seated right next to a very raucous table of eight, something I understand the restaurant doesn't have much control over.
That said, we will definitely be back!
Loved our waiter and sommelier was very helpful. Steak for two was noticeably smaller than last visit. My wife was saddened. Otherwise love the place . Been coming there for almost 15 years.
Our first visit, fabulous!! We are already talking about when we can return. The pumpkin soup was amazing. The onion rings are the best I’ve ever tasted and the steaks were beyond compare
Always try to visit when all the family is in town. Our oldest son's favorite place. (he lives in LA). Food and service are always topnotch. We all go home very happy and stuffed!!
I love going to Ringside when I am in Portland. The cocktails feel extra special in the old-world setting. The tuxedoed waitstaff are pros and the onion rings are the best I've ever had, especially with the special house dressing. A real treat.
The service was amazing and the food was outstanding. My server Katies was helpful with the menu, but also never rushed me as I had a 3 hour dinner
Fabulous unbeatable food and authentically personable friendly service!😃
Been dining at Ringside (uptown) since the 1950’s when my father took me there a couple of times a year. I still have dinner at the Ringside as often as I can and now I am taking my grandchildren! In 6-7 more years my great grandchildren will be old enough to enjoy the Ringside with me.
I have been to the Ringside three times in the last two months and enjoyed each visit
The Ringside and I’ve celebrated our 75th birthday in October and I had a wonderful dinner party of 12 people and the service was excellent
Sunday happy hours are fun as well and less expensive but you have to get there early to get a good seat in the bar
Waitress was sort of rude but did her job.
Took my husband for his birthday, as he wanted to go to a good steakhouse - picked here from on-line reviews. We both ordered filets and they were both cooked perfectly and were absolutely delicious! I have to admit, my favorite item was the beet salad though, it was one of the best salads I have ever had! Great service and ambiance, would definitely go back!
We had such an amazing time! From start to finish! We had a cocktail at the bar with Andy. Everything was made perfect. Then we had dinner and our server Dave was fantastic! Food was top notch! I can truly say this was the best experience we’ve had in a very long time. Will definitely be back!
Great night! Lovely and attentive service, amazing meal!
It’s a great place for a special night out! Food and service were great. Great dinner for our anniversary.
Service and food were excellent as usual!
My 10th time to The Ringside. A legend and the steakhouse of Portland. Onion rings -,the standard! I went off the steak menu only to see salmon no longer offered and other favorites - gone.
Noted the Fried Chicken - and made a mistake. Living in GA - that was not fried chicken. I rate The Ringside a “10” for steaks but use caution with the “other” menu I do want to note their wine selection was robust. You can’t go wrong with bottle 209!
Food was fantastic as always. Katie, our server, was outstanding!!
The RingSide crew took great care of us as 7 folks (from 7 years old to 70+) celebrated a birthday! Delicious food, they had choices for the vegans in the group, an extensive wine list with a large range of prices, and attentive service. All around a memorable night.
Amazing!! Such a great deal and we dined super late were made to feel like no really, take your time....
I had reservations for two, they never asked me if it was a special occasion which is was then they sat us in a tiny table that the server acknowledged it was “too small for the food we ordered” yet they never moved us.
Had excellent service, and Susan the waitress was exceptional. It was my wife's birthday and we were not disappointed. The filet was the best, and the surf and turf was very good as well.
And thank you for the birthday candle.
Ringside Steakhouse is always consistently good in terms of the food, the service, and the ambiance. Always a pleasure to dine here. Also tried the onion rings for the first time and they are delicious!
It had been a few years we had been to the Ringside and looked forward to it again. Every time we have gone, we have gotten exceptional service and the food cannot be beat. Some of the favorites we get each time are the onion rings and the onion soup. The four of us this time enjoyed it so much that we were there for three hours.
