RingSide Steakhouse - Uptown

As always it was WONDERFUL. The food is always to die for.
The one thing I would change is the noise level. This is the 1st time I had been in the main dinning room. The noise level was such that I had trouble hearing my dining companions. I had to ask them to speak up a bunch of times.
If this could be fix it would be great.
Our favorite place to go, to celebrate Birthdays and Anniversaries.
It was my wife's birthday which I noted on Open Table when making the reservation.
Server noted that it was her birthday when we first arrived and brought complimentary champagne. :)
When server brought the food the mushroom side dish was missing. Server said he forgot so it had to come late. :(
Wife's dry age bone in rib eye was EXCELLENT as were her mashed potatoes! :)
My Pork special was a little dry and tough. :)
Complimentary Creme Broulee with candle for wife's birthday was nicely presented. :)
Overall rating good but certainly not as good as I expected and have received in previous visits.
We are regulars at the Ringside and we love it for a deluxe traditional steak! The service is amazing and the atmosphere is always pleasantly warm. We had a fillet and potato with the Oscar sauce, divine! and for the salad we made a modification to the heirloom salad to make it like a caprese and it was amazing!!
Perfect meal all the way:)
Excellent quality meat!! Great service and giod drinks.
Fantastic as always. Ten star place!! Worth your time.
As expected, the food at Ringside was phenomenal. From the appetizers through entrees, everything was spot on.
Service on the other hand was weak. Our server made the cardinal sin of never making eye contact with our table. Forcing us to wave to get her attention, and then getting up to get the manager. 3 stars is generous for that level of attention.
Drinks were inconsistent and they don’t even know how to make a proper negroni.
When out of the wine I ordered, a totally different variety of wine was suggested. Another swing and a miss.
I’ll come back for the food, but stay in the bar, and avoid cocktails.
Used to be the go-to spot every time I was in Portland. Until recently, was consistently on my list of top restaurants worldwide. The did a remodel and were closed for a few months, things seemed to have changed slightly since then. Not one time in 15+ steaks have I ever had an issue, this last one was over cooked by 2 temperatures, then they brought out a cold steak barely seared on the outside trying to make up for it. The server even informed us that the lead chef has recently abandoned this location for another Portland favorite restaurant, El Gaucho. I will come back to give them the benefit of the doubt that mistakes do occasionally happen, but throughout our entire group, we agreed that something was different than every past visit.
The food is outstanding and the service is superb. However, the wines are greatly overpriced, especially considering many of them are local.
We just love coming back here. Never disappointed in the food or service and they make the BEST Spanish coffees
Great waiter, knew his stuff. Food (steaks) were wonderful, cooked exactly as ordered. Excellent bottle of wine
Table was too small for all that we ordered, but food was amazing and the service was OUTSTANDING!
Our waiter Trey was professional and polite. A class act all the way that made an enjoyable occasion even more so. Thank you!
Great place for a business dinner. Our table enjoyed expensive whiskey, a fine bottle of wine and delicious cocktails all excellently served. The onion rings lived up to their reputation. The steaks were top notch, a little bearnaise made them heavenly. The classic steakhouse ambiance kept the noise level at a perfect level for business conversation. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Highly recommend. Expensive but worth it.
The baked onion soup and creme brulee were great and good service as always.
Our waiter sucked. He sucked so much. He is not worthy of your restaurant.
We've been to a lot of the too steak houses across the U.S.---Mastro's, Manny's, Smith & Wolensky's, Gibson's,Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Fleming's, etc. Never been to one who gave you a measured 1.5 oz pour on a single malt scotch until I visited Ringside. Steak was average and was not seasoned very well. Everything else was ok. Certainly not among the elite steak houses we have dined at.
Celebrated our 48th anniversary. As always, our experience was delightful. Steaks superb. Onion rings scrumptiously matched their reputation!
Solicitous staff and delicious steaks made our 53rd anniversary dinner memorable.
The service was very good and the atmosphere is pretty good. But when I got my prime rib I ordered medium rare and it was way over medium and very chewy and dried out. When I mentioned it to my waiter and said sorry sometimes that happens. So I was pretty disappointed in the prime rib everything else was good.
This is old school fine ding at it's best. Located in a popular neighborhood environment on a very busy street which will necessitate using the free valet parking. When you walk in you feel as if you've stepped back in time. The restaurant feels a little dated which is understandable since they are celebrating their 75th anniversary. Decor is again a little dark and dated but it goes with the ambiance. Once seated you are greeted very warmly by your waiter Dave who made you feel very welcomed. He explains certain items on the menu and makes specific recommendations answering any questions you may have. Upon ordering our meal Dave recommend the house onion rings with two great sauces. They were delicious and a small order was plenty for the three of us. The steaks were delivered and everything was cooked to order and delicious. Because the chef uses high heat when grilling the meat the crust was a little thick. We also ordered their mushrooms and sautéed spinach. Mushrooms were great but not a fan of the spinach. The portion sizes for the baked potatoes and side dishes are generous and you won't go away hungry. The prices for the prime steaks are a little hefty but worth every penny. This was a wonderful dining experience and hope to go again when in Portland.
Slow service - food quality was below par for what was advertised as a high end steakhouse.
They up charged us for things we didn’t request - split plates and sides.
Our server was ok but nothing was coursed out - and came at different times. They put our steak (which they cut in half for us which was unwanted for a medium rare steak) on hot sizzling plates which splattered hot butter or oil on my husband and myself, but also continued to cook our now 4 oz filet from a medium rare to a medium to medium well.
String bean poles weren’t cooked fully and the onion soup was not very warm.
All and all for what we were expecting for the price it was highly disappointing and we left most of our food on the table which didn’t seem to be a problem or concern for any of their staff.
Also - I would suggest a sweater - I was frozen the entire meal which isn’t normal for me at all.
Trey provided exceptional experience for us on our anniversary and the food was even better than usual.
Everything was perfect.
YUmmyYUmmY FOR Your TuMMY ! food and wait staff our always spot on !
Great birthday celebration with friends.
Service was exceptional as always.
New menu items are great additions without removing any of the classic favorites.
The service was fanaminal
The food was amazing
Complementary valet parking was a plus
Probably the best dining experience I have ever had.
The service was excellent. The food was delicious. We had the bone in rib & the special of the night. Both meals were cooked perfectly. We had the Cream Brulee & the peach & berry crisp. Yummy.
We can't wait to go back.
Steak, lobster, and halibut were all excellent. I appreciated the chef preparing veggie pasta for me , as I am a vegetarian. Unfortunately, The dish was a bit dry. I miss the old summer corn dish with cherry tomatoes and the former Portland sourdough bread. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Kelly was a fantastic server, very knowledgeable and great attitude. She helped us order a bottle of wine we'd had there before that wasn't listed on the menu.
We were a party of 3 and ordered two bone-in filet mignon dinners and a halibut dinner. Filet mignons were fantastic. The halibut seemed overdone to me, maybe it was just me, but Kelly made it easy to return it to the kitchen. The kitchen brought out a new one and waited to make sure I was happy with it, which I was.
Deserts were great, cheesecake and creme brulee.
One thing I will remember though, when at a steak house, order steak, lol, because I think that's what I really wanted.
Other thing is that we were in the back room with brick walls and brick ceiling and there was a party of 6 very loud people in there; it was uncomfortably noisy the first 45 minutes we were there. As soon as they left, the entire room calmed down and it was much more pleasant. But it reminds me that next time we make reservations at Ringside, we will request a booth as they seem a bit more private. Also, I had a 3/4 sleeve linen blouse on and was cold because of the air conditioning, so will bring a wrap next time I go.
Overall, very enjoyable evening at Ringside, as always. Thank you!
Celebrating a birthday.
The food and service was 5 star.
We miss the fish house, though.
Fantastic birthday experience! First class food, service and atmosphere in the newly remodeled dining area.
As always, the food was fabulous! The Prime Rib outstanding! Loved the new menu. As always we were seated at our favorite booth #25. Our friends had not been to the Ringside in years and were so impressed with the remodel and the food quality. They will be back, as we, for sure. Service was ok, as I felt the waiter, Wayne was not patient with taking our order, as we had not been there since the new menu. I felt rushed during ordering, it was like, come on hurry and make your decision. Never experienced that before at Ringside. Also after we had our first drink, he came and wanted us to order right away. Usually, the waiters check and say do you want more time or would you like to order...it was like hurry up....I always loved the feeling of dining at the Ringside in a leisurely manner . Not this time!
Everything was good except I ordered a dry aged bone in New York steak but I was served a dry aged bone in Rib Eye steak.
Excellent NY steak. Prime rib was ok,not very flavorful. Nice wine, coffee and dessert..Cesar salad was fantastic as was the house salad.
Crab cakes! To die for. They were so unbelievably fresh. 10/10
