Fantastic. Great service, drinks and delicious steak.
Exceptional food and service. Warm and inviting atmosphere.
Rib eye steak and sides served to perfection. Extensive wine list.
I heard about this restaurant on the Food Network and decided to check it out in a recent trip to Portland. It exceeded all expectations.
The only criticism is the Argyle Champagne was not cold enough. For most champagne drinkers, it is desirable to have VERY COLD champagne. it would be nice if you could keep it in an colder place.
The staff and waitress were very professional and made the dining experience pleasing. The food was exceptional. We’ll be back for sure.
For a steakhouse the steak was a bit dry and it shouldn’t have been for that price. That being said. The service was really nice
I absolutely love this place, yes, you will spend some money, but they always go above and beyond to make each visit special.
Always reliably good food and service. After the refurbishment the old ambiance is still there. Ah, thank goodness for tradition!
Service was excellent. Food was superb. Other guests were entitled and obnoxious, but that isn't the fault of the establishment, that is the clientele pulled by the price point.
Yes, we will go back. 100%.
Server was the absolute best. Food was excellent. Ambiance was very good to. Despite being quite full the level of sound was very low allowing us to have good conversation.
We decided to split the bill instead of separate checks. Each of us got a bill for the full amount and ended up unwittingly tipping 40% instead of 20%. No problem: our server was exceptional, Service was the best I’ve ever had. But I had to call in to make sure our cards were not charged each for the entire bill. Confusing and upsetting. ASK FOR SEPARATE CHECKS.
Never been to Ringside - very pleasant server; noise rather distracting.
For being an old line steakhouse I was surprised and disappointed with the thin cut style of the NY and the filet mignon - I’m used to thick cuts of prime steaks; felt like what I would get at a chain of lower price eateries.
The wait staff was wonderful!
We have gone to this Ringside for over 10 years for our anniversary. This time, we were seated in the larger room and a larg party was in there celebrating a birthday. They were very loud so we asked to be moved which Ringside staff were more than willing to do, thankfully... Then, our steak was just not that flavorful. We order the Rib eye for 2. We ordered the spinach this time and that wasn't very good and even the lobster mashed potatoes weren't as good as we remembered. Overall, we were disappointed esp when you are paying $150.00 for a meal for two! I don't know if we will be back, unfortunately. Very disappointing...
We enjoyed a professionally served, delicious meal to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was excellent.
Wonderful food and service. Highly recommend
Great atmosphere, food and service. It's a bit spendy, but fun now and again.
Always GREAT! Been doing this restaurant once a year for 15 years! Onion rings are superb. See you next September.
For old school ambience and great steak, this was the perfect place to take our guests from South Africa who love meat. The service was also exceptional.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. We love it here, and I'm sure we'll be back!
The service is always above and beyond, and steak cooked perfect.
Great restaurant for our birthday celebration. Exceptional service from our server, Willie!
Ever since the remodel the rib eye has been a huge disappointment. I don’t know what changed but the steak is not good. I’m going to Morton’s next time. I’ve eaten twice at ringside since they remodeled and both times it’s been bad.
Always an exceptional dining experience. It's appropriate and fun to dress for the occasion.
Food was great especially the onion rings. Service was outstanding.
I have been to ringside my whole life for many many occasions and this time the service really tried to rush us out of there. It was not a good thing.
The service and food was beyond amazing. The sear on the steak was perfection. This is what dreams are made of. It was as if god himself blessed that steak. Our server was amazing and made the experience that much more enjoyable. Give that man a raise!
Excellent steak and lobster. Appropriately attentive service.
From walking in the door until we paid the bill, everything was outstanding. Everyone working there is friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely come back again.
The Ringside is my go to place. Dining alone in the bar or bringing friends. This time I brought a friend who was visiting from Germany. They were totally blown away from the moment we arrive. Valet parking is unheard of in Germany. And then the wait staff. Superb. French onion soup = 100% perfect. 12oz New York steak = 100% perfect, garlic mashed = 100% perfect, Mango sorbet = 100% perfect. He was amazed that a person came to crumb the table after main course. And , when he returned from the restroom, his napkin has been folded and placed on the table. From beginning to end, this was a very memorable evening.
Food is always great. Sometimes the place is running so busy, so it is occasionally hard to find servers.
Food was great
One of the best restaurants in Portland!
You won't find a better prepared steak anywhere. Generous portions and always a meal for the following day at home. Excellent wine selection, but they are priced on the high side, and could provide better value.
Amazing as always. Can never go wrong with a night at Ringside.
Amazing ambience. Great food. Scott was attentive and intuitive to our needs. Fellow food snobs, if any doubt, just go.
I would normally recommend RingSide to all of my friends and family, but unfortunately our last dinner experience was unpleasant. The reason being was that my husband and I were celebrating our eighth anniversary on a Friday evening and unfortunately a group of men who were intoxicated, obnoxious and extremely rude were seated right next to us (directly in front of table 29). Two of the men were from Santa Rosa, CA and their host was local. The host was not intoxicated or rude, but did not settle his "friends" down or choose to leave the restaurant due to his "friends" behavior. One man fell asleep at the table and the other guest proceeded to use profanities while describing his steak/entire meal to the server. The host should have removed his friends from the restaurant (one could barely stand up when he left - the same one who fell asleep at the table). My husband and I felt terrible for the staff and ourselves who should not have been subjected to this behavior. I should have demanded we be moved to a different table, reimbursed for our meal and/or had the party of three be removed from the restaurant. I know it is extremely difficult to handle these situations, but they must be handled by the staff, not the other guests of the restaurant.
In addition, our friends ordered a bottle of wine for us as a surprise and our server first thought it was for a different table and then was notified it was for us. There was no name as to whom gifted us this bottle as well. Also, it was mentioned to us that we were not charged a corkage fee for this bottle of wine, which seemed silly since it was a gift purchased from the restaurant.
The food and beverages were excellent as usual, but the three men ruined our evening. I am sorry for the disappointing review, but I feel it's important to notify staff that our evening was less than desirable.
Service was unusually bad. My server didn’t pay my table much attention.
Great place for special occasions. The steak was amazing. The wait staff was excellent. Highly recommend this place.
Ringside is hands down the best steakhouse in downtown Portland. Excellent service and the food is perfectly prepared.
William was fantastic. Food sublime.
The RingSide Steakhouse is a MUST on your list to visit! It has a wonderful long history in Portland and I think many 20-30 somethings younger folks don't give it a chance. When you enter, it's like going into a fine dining venue where they really care about each of their diners. You are greeted by helpful staff who are dressed in suits and the ladies in dresses. I had requested a "booth by the fireplace" and when the hostess began to seat us, she went around the fireplace to the side, where we could not see the fireplace at all. I told her I had requested one of the booths where we could see the fireplace and she went quickly back to the scheduler who arranged for us to be seated at the correct booth. I was taking my 20-something God-daughter out for dinner and she was sooo impressed. She is also the President of the OMA (Oregon Marketing Association) and she was able to speak with one of the administrative representatives about how they could work together to draw in the younger crowd. We each had the 3 course dinner that included soup or salad (we had the salad with the house dressing that was amazing), the surf & turf (prawns and medium rare steak) with THE BEST MASHED POTATOES I've ever eaten!! Plus we got the creme brulee for dessert. It was EXCELLENT food and our server was great. They also seem to have a policy that if a staff person sees that a diner's plate is empty or water glass is getting low, they will come by and take care of you. They also use the rare table cloth "crumb scraper" between your courses. The 3-course dinner is only $45 but you'll feel like a king/queen by the time you leave. I highly recommend this dinner house - if you want to impress someone you love or a client ... THIS is THE PLACE to go!
