Service is super slow, horrible compared with Ringside Uptown. I don’t even know why they call dinners for pre-theater, you would be late for every show. The onion rings were very greasy and the house dressing was very runny, gives their famous onion rings and house sauce a bad name at this location. I would not recommend this location of Ringside, stick with Uptown.
We know that when we have dinner at this restaurant, it will be more expensive than most other restaurants, but when we get hungry for fish that is beautifully prepared, combined with impeccable and "over the top" service, we always choose Ringside Fish House. We happened to have picked an evening during Portland Restaurant Month and ordered the three course featured choices at $33 each. We upgraded the soup course to their lobster bisque—and it was worth the extra $2.50. I had the Rockfish, elegantly prepared, and my date (husband) had the Mediallions of beef that was exquisite. As always happens, with a Martini each before dinner and one glass of wine each with dinner, our tab, before gratuity, totaled $131. We will always return when we are in the mood for a very special experience dining out.
Great food and view. Very well intentioned staff but the amount of times we were asked if everything was okay seemed a little excessive. We appreciate their care
Hosted a group of 10 friends to take advantage of the March Portland Dining Month menu, Some had streak, some had fish., all loved their food and liked the room. The Malbec was nice, too.
Fish House is a "go to" place for me to enjoy pre-concert dinners.
Great service, great food
It was ok. The server took too long. Portland Dining Month menu was OK
Scallop was ok and love the risotto thou
Food took over an hour to arrive at our table. Overall, an underwhelming experience.
I haven’t been to the Fish House since it opened but met some friends for dinner before a show. Half wanted seafood. Half wanted steaks. All were thoroughly impressed. Fantastic service. Great wine list including the by the glass extended list due to Coravin. I will definitely be back!
Wonderful visual presentation and nice diverse mix of flavors and textures
My husband and I met friends here for dinner before going to a dance show at the Performing Arts Center. We all ordered something different, and we all loved our dishes. I got the three-course Portland Dining Month menu which featured a salad, rockfish, and dessert. The combination was great. The only low point was the dessert, which was good, but a little bland. My husband ordered the pre-theater three course meal, which featured a surf and turf that was delicious. The steak was cooked exactly the way he liked it and the shrimp were spiced for taste not heat, which is the way we like them.
In the past we have gone to happy hour in the bar and had a late night dessert after a show too. We love the food, and the atmosphere, which means we will definitely be back.
On the walls you will find the reviews of famous people who have dined there. I'm sure they wouldn't put one up who left a bad review but I don't imagine why one would leave a bad review. The food was tasty and the service was great. Our server even gave us a cup of lobster bisque because he didn't want my wife to be left out when my soup came.
Food and service were amazing. We went with the Portland Dining Month menu. I had the rockfish and it was delicious. She had the steak medallions and they were cooked perfectly.
Staff was great, food was even better!!
We ordered the fish option Portland Dining Month menu. It was fantastic. For an up charge, we had the lobster soup ; the fish was prepared in a spicy green curry broth/sauce with lovely vegetables. The dessert was a malted vanilla pots de creme. Delicious!!! Service, as always, was excellent.
We arrived for 7:45 reservation and sat in our booth for 20 minutes without being waited on by anyone. Our waiter (who was very nice) took our drink orders and then we waited another 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive (my wife's martini was warm). Dinner and service were very slow and we ended up leaving at 10:00 pm for a meal that should have taken just over an hour.
We love Ringside and will still frequent the location but the slow service definitely had a negative impact on our night.
This was our first time at the Ringside Fish House location. It was marvelous. Nancy was an awesome server. She picked up on our group dynamics quickly. We will be going back for sure!
Dinner is all about the company, and while you can bring fun people with you, having a sourpuss for a waiter throws a blanket over the whole experience. Our waiter was inattentive, disengaged and diminished the experience. When you pay this kind of money, all aspects of the meal should be excellent.
Nice fair...simple but very well prepared, quality ingredients. Outstanding, personable and professional service.
Wonderful upscale meal to celebrate a job offer. The staff was very attentive and everything was delicious.
The service was fairly awful. We were constantly interrupted during our meal. My wife’s drink was prepared incorrectly, but the waiter never offered to remake it. The food was average at best.
The food was good, the service was great. William let us try a drink of his house wine, would definitely recommend. Thought that they validated parking.... ended up still paying 7 dollars somehow in the fox tower.
My husband and I celebrated our love a week after Valentine's Day. Ringside Fish was perfect for dinner! Food beautifully cooked and artfully served. The crab salad we shared was unique and delicious. My scallops were so tender with risotto adding to the richness. We had a lovely time; with wait staff that were close by but no hovering. A lovely evening all around. Thanks Ringside.
We celebrated a belated Valentine’s Day there. 5-Star service!!! The food was great. The only complaint was my husband‘s prime rib was a little chewy. My cioppino was excellent!!! Thee waiter was also very attentive and friendly.
One of the best meals I’ve had in years along with 5 star service.
Professional, quick service and a sumptous meal in a warm and cozy setting! We'll be back!
My husband and I dined in the bar on our first date and have come back for every anniversary since. It was only fitting, therefore, that we should celebrate our wedding night enjoying dinner at the place where we went on that first date. The food was spectacular. But the service and care from our server Santi, and the rest of the staff was absolutely superb. Sophisticated, elegant, and just tasty to the last bite! Thank you for making our special day just that more memorable.
William was our waiter and he always recommends the best wine to go with our meals. The salmon was cooked just right, moist and delicious.
Loved the hostess’s facial reaction( froze) as we approached and asked if we can get in even though we had no reservations (we did have them of course). The servers were extremely friendly and courteous. The food was great. Overall we were pleased to spend our Valentine’s dinner at the Ringside Fish House. We’ll be back.
We had an amazing Valentine's Day date here, it really succeeded at making the evening special. I looked around and saw multiple other couples clearly experiencing the same magic. Then the food came and we gorged ourselves on delicious sea food until we were stuffed (we ate The Grand Ringsider)!
Ed was an amazing waiter, we told the manager to give him a raise.
Ringside Fish House consistently delivers excellent food and service. We have come here several times and know we will be happy with the experience. I enjoy being so well taken care of.
We were here for Pre Valentine dinner and it was busy. I had House Chiopinno and it was good, my husband had surf & turf his steak was good but mashed potatoes was salty and we waited for a long time to get food so he didn't complained.
We met our son here for dinner while he was in town for a conference.
All of the staff that we encountered were congenial and welcoming. Service and food was great. And they validate parking for the garage in the same building...at least an $8 value.
Next time you make a crab salad more crab and un-shredded would be good.
My friend had a very good lobster soup and Manila clams.
The food was excellent, very fresh and perfectly prepared. The service was likewise excellent.
The evening started off great. Checked our coats, beautiful table. Ordered drinks. Took awhile for drinks. Ordered appetizers and asked for bread since by then we were starving. Had to ask twice more for bread. First red flag. Appetizers and salads were good. Ordered dinner. The dishes tasted ok but lacked basic elements like our king salmon needed an acid to brighten. The sturgeon was dry. Still we were there for a birthday and wanted to have a good time. Toward the end of the meal our waiter Edward. was scarce. We didn’t see our take home box delivered and when we asked a bus person to ask him he came flying in and was very snippy getting a bag from the floor (who puts food on the floor) and says “what else do you need boxed up. We didn’t see him bring the bag so it was an honest mistake. We saw him chatting with another server so I guess he was too busy to bring the evening to a close properly. We spent a lot of money on the evening and just didn’t think the overall meal and service matched the prices. I could overlook the meal but not the snippiness of the waiter. This is your job. I gave him a full 20% tip but don’t don’t think he earned it. I didn’t want to stiff the bus people who were great. Please use this to improve.
We came for our 9 year anniversary and it was the perfect place to be! They acknowledged our special occasion and had a card signed by staff and our server, Miguel.
I had the filet with mashed potatoes and a bowl of the roasted cauliflower soup. Every bite of everything was delicious! Husband had the seafood platter with lobster tail, king crab legs, shrimp, mussels, clams and smoked salmon...he devoured it!
Thank you for a night to remember! We will be back soon.
The staff was very attentive. We were greeted and since we were early we elected to go to the bar for a drink first. An attendant came and got us when our table was ready and escorted us to the dining area. The crab bisque soup was very tasty, as was the mixed green salad. My entree, which was the surf and turf had a nice flavor however the temperature was lukewarm at best. I ordered a decaf coffee to have with my desert, but after several minutes when it hadn't arrived I was finally able to get the attention of my waiter who informed me that the coffee had to be brewed. By the time it arrived I had finished by desert. I was surprised that #1 the waiter did not inform me that there would be a delay, and #2 that they didn't comp me my $3.50 cup of coffee. Overall the Ringside Fish House is a nice place, but for the price I would have expected a piping hot entree, and my coffee delivered promptly or not charged since it was so late. Therefore I can only give this place 3 stars.
The Dungeness crab cakes were excellent as usual. The marlin dinner was very good. The steelhead was good. You may not believe it if you haven't had them before but the warm cinnamon sugar doughnuts with dipping sauce is excellent.
The service was also very good.
Wait staff was excellent. As was the food.
