Rick's Seafood Ratings and Reviews
Looked like a warehouse, cold inside, only 2 waitresses, one very rude. Tast of food ( for what is suppossed to be fresh fish ) comparable to a mediocre diner. Prices are too high for overall place. Do not reccommend.
Note|: Also need to explain on menus how meals are prepared. Ordered asian style calamai which came out loaded woth sesame seeds. Allergic to sesame seeds. Told waitress (the blonde one)who seemed irritated and said, "For future reference it comes with sesame seeds".
I reccommend Farmer Fisherman who has comparable prices, excellent sevice and impeccable food.
Will not be going back there.
I wish I did not have to give even a one-star rating. It was the worst OpenTable restaurant I have ever visited. There are only 14 tables, and we were the fifth table occupied. Only one server was employed (with no busing assistance), and she had to do everything. She was scattered and slow, and the kitchen was also terribly slow. We waited about a half hour for water, and an hour for our salads, which were not cold. When the main courses finally arrived, our party of four was terribly disappointed in the quality of the food itself after reading all the great reviews here. Patrons seated after us were served before us. The people at two other tables walked out after waiting too long, and another couple walked in and walked right out after seeing what was going on. There was also a problem with pricing and the way a coupon was handled. We would never return to this establishment.
After driving past this place for years, I finally tried it this weekend thanks to a coupon I had received. The food was great! As the place is actually a fish market one would expect the fish quality to be excellent, and it was. Service was rather slow, both to take our order and to get the included salad and our entrees. As for atmosphere, you're sitting in a fish market, so don't expect a fancy place. But the food (blackened tuna for me, grilled shrimp for my wife) was excellent, as were the roasted potatoes and fresh veggies that were included as sides. It's BYOB -- we didn't take advantage of it but many people did.
Can't believe I just discovered this place. The food was excellent, as is the bring your own wine policy. The Asian style calamari and the seared tuna specials were especially good, with a sophistication you would expect to find in a fine dining establishment. I will definitely be back soon.
We always enjoy coming to Rick's. I used to not be so adventurous in my meals but when I come here, I always look to try something different. I usually get the oysters on the half shell and then a meal. Sometimes i order from the evening specials when there is something i haven't tried. The seafood is always fresh and they also sell the fish to take home and cook yourself.
This neighborhood gem is actually a fish market by day and a superb restaurant by night. Located in an obscure strip-mall in Mahopac, this is a great place for very well-prepared, exquisitely-fresh seafood. And, they also have some pretty nice looking steaks available as well. Try the "Asian" style calamari; its the best I have ever had. The scallops were excellent and came with great sides. Everyone's food was prepared perfectly and the service was prompt, efficient and all of the staff were friendly and eager to serve. I can't wait to go back!!
