Rick's Cafe Boatyard
We love the idea of Rick's... Good seafood, beautiful views, good service, nice neighborhood place, but for us, the noise level makes it so unpleasant that enjoying any meal there is impossible. The music at 7pm overwhelms an already difficult atmosphere, so we find ourselves choosing to go to other restaurants where we don't have to shout to be heard or go home with a headache. We wish you could fix that so we could plan to enjoy more dinners there. Love the venue but not the noise.
I enjoyed our dining experience. We had an excellent server. He was able to answer our questions about food on the menu. He came back often to check on us. He packed our leftovers and desserts up for us to take home. We’ll definitely be back!!!
Ricks was a great restaurant! Always a family favorite!
Service was pretty slow and myself and my son had very upset stomachs after eating. It ruined the rest of our evening.
The service was excellent. Unfortunately they were out of 3 different types of fish. One of those was salmon which is what my friend wanted and the only reason we went to Rick's in the first place. I'm sure we will return during her next trip to Indiana.
Took a long time to find reservation, after repeatedly telling my name. Hostess then read the whole list of reservations. Was seated in a corner table after requesting one by a window and told I could not have another table. A couple was seated at the same table, 15 minutes later. Food looked and tasted absolutely like a Fazolis and Captain Ds meal. Not worth 88.00. The only saving grace was our server.
Overall, Rick's is a great restaurant. This past weekend (2/16/19) we went for our 2nd time. Love the atmosphere, proximity to the water, etc. The service was good, but took slightly longer to get drinks and meal items than would typically expect. The food was good. I had scallops, my wife had salmon. Both were cooked well.
We will go again.
I had seen an advertisement that they serve "Legacy Beef". It was touted as better than prime. My wife and I ordered two different dinners to try more menu items. She ordered a filet and I orded grilled Rainbow Trout. We split the meat and both were delicious. We didn't drink alcohol, so the bill was extremely reasonable.
Table by the window, good view of water, no boats. We were having a little celebration and our waiter was very nice and didn't rush us. Food was good. Will go again.
Too noisey for business discussions. My mistake not knowing you had live music on Thursday nights
It was as always amazing! The food was superb and the service this time was great!
We had reservations for 4 pm on a Sunday. I was looking forward to this after being housebound after a surgery. We had been here before, by the way, and had a positive experience. We had to wait a couple minutes while a table by a window was cleaned. I had 2 cocktails, which were $9 each. They weren't very tasty and not aesthetically pleasing, either. The first one was a Blue Hawaiian but looked more like mud. It took an hour to get our food. My husband had the 8 oz filet. He ordered it done medium--it came out blood rare. The waitress took it back to "reheat" it or what ever. It came back medium rare and the taste was awful. I had 1 bite, and that was enough. I am normally a huge fan of rare steak. I had the "special" which was cod with crabmeat and melted cheese on top. It sounded great. The taste was "so so." The fish was lukewarm as were the gold Yukon potatoes. Our waitress was very pleasant and did apologize for the steak. The bill came to $90 without tip. We didn't have appetizers nor did we have dessert. I had the 2 cocktails but my husband only had a diet soda. I was very disappointed with our dining experience, especially since previous dinners there had been good. The restaurant was moderately busy, but I have gotten better food & service when it has been busier. I will return & give it a second chance because I like the ambiance, but this particular dining experience was very disappointing. My husband & I both left thinking how that money could have been better spent.
Great food and wonderful service. I would definitely be going back!
I had the scallops and my husband had the salmon roulades. Both dishes were creative and delicious. The presentation was well done as well. The server was excellent, attentive but not intrusive.
Loves the restaurant . Food was great also parking not the greatest but it works.
My wife and I really enjoyed our 1st visit. The food was amazing! Our only issue was an incorrect appetizer order. The restaurant was full and the live music made for an overall terrific experience!
Very nice meal, had the Mahi Mahi, delicious!
Great service, nice view of lake.
My husband and I had a great experience at Rick's Cafe Boatyard. The food was delicious and service was one of the best we have had. The live music that was playing was a great addition to the evening. We stayed a little longer after dinner just to listen to the music. We'll definitely be going back.
It was my wife's birthday and I took her to Rick's because it is her favorite restaurant. The initial greeting was good. They did not ask if we wanted to check our coats so we took them to the table. Laura, our server was very friendly and knew the specials. We had the crab dip which was delicious.
We both ordered ribeyes which were good but not outstanding. We were disappointed the sauteed mushrooms were from a can and not fresh. We had a good experience but not like the great experiences in the past.
Consistent, great atmosphere. Unique dinning experience. Thanks Rick’s!
My experience was wonderful and the food was out of this world. My husband is ready to go back.
Had a great evening! There was a band Studio D playing in the bar and they were great!
This is a Great place. We enjoy the atmosphere, music, location because it is on the water and they have a great view of a large body of water and you get to enjoy the boating and the sunsets. So if you have bad service or problems with your meal you will have so many other things to balance out your experience. This place is a favorite!!
Amazing food, fun atmosphere would go back anytime and will definitely recommend this to anyone. They have a diverse menu to where anyone can find something in there comfort zone
Very nice atmosphere. The live jazz is a classy touch. Decent but not outstanding views of the water if you're outside or close to that side of the restaurant. You might get a great view of the sunset if you're there in the evening . Very nice place for a date
Wonderful! We will definitely go back! The live music was a nice surprise.
The chops were too dry as well as the chefs cake
The broccoli kale salad was not good
I’ve had better meals there
Good as always. Love the view of Eagle Creek Reservoir.
Three of us stopped in on a Sunday night. At times the service here has been spotty but it was really good tonight and we had a great time. Appetizers were Rico's Dip and a shrimp cocktail both of which were very good. I had the Florida Red Grouper which was blackened and a bit spicy for my tastes but still really good. Another had fried shrimp which might have been a little overbattered but were good sized and the 3rd one had Cuban chicken which they said was very good. Good dinner in a unique type of restaurant.
The food was delicious but a little pricey. Our waitress Alexa was Outstanding!
We’ve been several times but not as late as 10:30pm. I was nervous just because but from the time we walked in it was exceptional!! They never let us down from quality to service is 100. We will definitely be back!!!
Always awesome food and service. Busy so make a reservation!
We love Rick's. The food is amazing. It is hard to find good seafood in central Indiana!
It seems when I book a reservation on open table we always get a bad table --this time no exception we were facing a wall and I ask if we could have a different table--we were there for a birthday celebration and I wanted it to be special. They acted like I ask for the moon. Our female waitress was average at best. The food was good but we spent almost $500 so it should have been great. Probably wont go back.
Live band was way too loud. Had to yell to talk to my wife across the table. Food was average but our waiter was awesome
Always love coming to Rick’s!!! Especially for the delicious seafood and fun, relaxed atmosphere!
Our choice for a light dinner and drinks when we are in town. Food / oysters were great! Server although pleasant seemed stretched and rushed. Not as attentive as usual and usual is typically way more busy than they were on this night.
The Rico's Dip is always a favorite appetizer. My server helped me select a wine that I enjoyed.
Bad stuff: It was my wife’s birthday but no mention of it by staff even though I mentioned it on the OT reservation. Was not crazy about the round corner booth for a party of nine. Expected a real table with a weeks notice. My wife’s steak was not first quality. This surprised her as she has had excellent steaks in the past. Lastly it seems the fresh fish options are scarce on Sunday. 3 of our party had to reorder different items
Appetizers and Seafood dishes were very good. Mostly shellfish options. The catfish was excellent as usual. Overall we had a good time
