Rick's Cafe Boatyard
The B Teams Christmas party!
Food and service were both excellent. It was a bit too noisy for easy conversation. We return every year Wisconsin comes to the BIG10 Championship game.
Our server was wonderful and the decor and vibe of the place was cool... but we were so close to the next table that even with our smallest person sitting on the aisle seat, they were still bumped into every time someone walked past.
The food was just okay. I had high hopes based on the descriptions but everything was somehow less interesting and flavorful than the description.
Food is fantastic. Seafood is flown in directly from the coast and is fresh. Service could use some improvement.
We usually go to Rick’s every year for thanksgiving as our tradition. We were very upset that they sold out of thanksgiving dinner on thanksgiving so early. Then they were out of baked potatoes... idk if we will continue to come back for thanksgiving.
Love the place! Great place to take family and friends!
We are a family of 4 and visited Rick’s for Thanksgiving day for the purpose of having thanksgiving dinner there. After we had placed our order the waiter returned with menus and informed us that they were out of the thanksgiving dinner. We then ordered off the menu. Once the food arrived we then had to wait at least 5 minutes for silverware. The $40 ribeye was thin and tasted like a $12-$15 steak from any chain restaurant like Applebee’s or Ocharleys. The other food we ordered wasn’t great. We waited for long periods of time between refills and the overall experience wasn’t great at all. I don’t think we will ever go back. Still undecided.
Wonderful meal and service on a very busy Thanksgiving.
The request was for a booth.I requested this in a month in advance. We were put in in a area like a pit .You couldn't hear anyone talk so that was a problem and the table was small .The four of us were very crowded by plates.Thanksgiving dinner was a plate of over cooked food. Looked liked we would of had better food in a Nursing Home!!!!! All the way to cheaply made pies like the Key Lime which I disposed of because it was made with imitation whipped topping. A awful day.
This was our six year in a row to have Thanksgiving dinner at Ricks and the tradition continues. Although they have a traditional turkey dinner offering, we celebrate by indulging in steaks and a fine bottle of red wine (No one does turkey like me but we do it on the weekend after). We had a perfect booth with a Lakeview, and our server Aubree was a delight. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT filets. Very enjoyable. Thanks Ricks and Aubree.
Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
Don’t care for the handheld checkout. Like the fact that the credit card stays with me. Don’t like being asked if I want to leave more tip in front of everyone. Normally would of left more. Meal was very good, service was excellent. One of our favorite restaurants
Great all around. Service food atmosphere. Restaurant was all decked out
Our waiter was beyond excellent! All else was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience
Great food & service
Reservation was not fulfilled due to power failure in the area that shut down the restaurant the whole night. We were contacted to know about the problem so other plans were formed.
This was my first visit to Rick's Café Boatyard and I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. It was much larger than I anticipated and the food was good. I went for lunch and was paying attention to what other people ordered. Everything looked really good. This was a 45 minute drive for me, but if I'm ever on this side of town again, I would definitely make a point of dining there again.
Original menu, excellent food, great service. I really like the location and the main building. It’s a bit of coast vibe in Indy.
Family visited from out of town. Lovely view of the water and festive atmosphere. Food and service was great.
Everyone else was extremely pleased with our meals. We will definitely go back- we felt so welcome!
Food and waitstaff were excellent; however, the blonde host was VERY rude and unhelpful. She got my phone number wrong after reading it back to her twice! Very bad attitude for a nice restaurant- would have rated it 5 stars otherwise.
Except for the fact that the hostess did not ask our name for the reservation and then put us at a table for 8 instead of 4 and subsequently Open Table thought we did not show up, all else was delighful. Folks, if you are a no show for an Open Table reservation, they will send you a firm reminder that it was not very appropriate to do so.
Steven was our server and he was excellent. Two appetizers were easily shared by the 4 of us. One of the guests has an allergy to nuts and she was pleasantly surprised that Steven offered the fact that the butter was a pecan butter before she asked. He was prompt, efficient, pleasant. Food ordered was a seafood chowder, a salmon, linguine and chicken, and a catfish plate. All were well presented and tasted great. Rick's has been in business for about 25 years and I can see why. Summertime, eating on the patio with a view of the lake is wonderful. A bit pricey. $$$
Best Bloody Mary ever. Our waitress, Liz B., was outstanding. She was so helpful and professional.
I had eaten at Ricks several times but I brought my wife and a friend. They were both very impressed at the quality of the food and the experience. Great time!
Food was just ok for the price. Waitress was kind. I hadn’t been here in a long time and it just wasn’t the same. Restaurant needs cleaned and repaired in areas.
love the baked goat cheese, i seriously crave it, excellent wine selection
Awesome food!! Server Jeff M was awesome. Had a great evening. Took my mom out to get her out of the house. Perfect choice!!!
Art, our server was fantastic. He answered all of our questions and was happy and friendly.
We love the atmosphere and view along with the great tasting food! It’s our go to place for all occasions!
Great experience. Service wasn’t superb, but she did a good job.
Excellent service with a great environment. We got there just as the sun was setting on the reservoir.
Everything great as always. Lovely view, great food and service.
I loved that there was a lunch menu, in addition to the full dinner menu. The portions were very large and tasty. Our server was an amazing young lady as well!
Brunch is always a good time to go. Everyone ordered something different, but all was good. Server was great!
Live music, amazing food, and great views made for a great evening dining at Rick’s Café Boatyard. Can’t wait for our next visit.
We have not been to Rick's for several years. The location and restaurant are awesome, but the food has taken a turn for the worst. My wife had the scallops, her comment was Bonefishs are much better, I ordered the Pork chop, which was way too tough and chewy. Neither of these meals were worth the price charged, and I doubt if we return to this establishment.
We enjoy going here. Tonight the service was not as good as it has been in the past. Very slow to being acknowledged after being seated. Did not check on us after food was served. I had to ask for another drink and the check. Good thing I enjoy this place and have been here several times or it might have been a place I would not return to.
I had the trout and my mother had the fried catfish. Mine was delicious but hers was overcooked. Dessert was yummy, the view even on a rainy day was wonderful! Still a favorite!
Great restaurant, great service, great experience. My steak was dry in steak salad. Whole Lobster very expensive. Very kind staff. Made our birthday memorable!
