Rickey's Ratings and Reviews
3 had the prix fixe special menue and all were very happy. Unfortunately I had the Cobb salad with Dungeness crab. The crab smelled and tasted fishy, a bit old. And the waiter told me there was no salad dressing for shrimp louie (guess I should have asked for thousand island) Also, the water is not filtered and tastes awful if you're used to filtered water. Overall good, but for me, terribly disappointing this time.
As always, we had a great time with our friends. We meet at Rickey's every so often as it is in the middle between Rohnert Park and Mill Valley. We have always been very pleased with the menu and our waitress this time was more than good; she was excellent, as were all four of our meals. We two women had the snapper Vera Cruz on the small plates - yummy and plenty to eat. The two men had the flat iron steaks with the clam chowder and a crème brulee for dessert. We will be back for sure!
We Just moved to Novato and this was our first date night here and it was a great choice. Very pleased. Filet could have been cooked longer. It was RARE!! Ordered medium cooked and should of sent it back but I really didn’t want to bother anyone or ruin the mood setting!! I would definitely return 👍🏼
I had dinner at Rickey's to celebrate a birthday for a friend because wanted to listen to the live jazz. Live jazz was very good and the singer came to our table which was delightful. Pomegranate martinis were not that good as the martinis were somewhat watered down and at $10 a cocktail they should be better. Service was very slow and although we had stated to the waiter that we would like to have a glass of wine with dinner he never asked before the meal if we would like to order wine. The salmon and rack of lamb was excellent.
Went there for a Saturday evening with friends. The place was very full and we had reserved a booth. The general noise level was very loud and with the jazz music going full blast it was difficult to hold a conversation. Happy we did not have a table close to the music, even though we live Jazz.
The food was excellent, yes, we will go back again but not over the weekend when entertainment is loud.
Had an outstanding time at Ricky's for my friend's birthday. We all chose the pork ribs with cole slaw and bacon mac and cheese, wow! So good, too much to eat, but we did. For desert we shared 3 different deserts: cream brûlée, gelato and fresh berries. If I had to choose one, it would be the cream brûlée, but they were all great. The live jazz music was a fun plus, if occasionally too loud. All in all a great evening.
The server was excellent!! In all fairness I think I just ordered wrong, so I will be back to try an actual entree! I ordered the mix green salad as a starter with the vinaigrette, very good and as my entree I chose the small plate, it was the portobella mushroom with a balsamic vinaigrette and vegetables. For me it was too much vinegar (tart) and needed something to go with it, maybe a brown rice or some kind of starch...I wouldn't order it even as an appetizer..not a good selection or menu choice! Anyway...I will try it again, my husband had the steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus, he loved it and it looked pretty! I don't have any pictures of the food, but it was all presented well!! It was my birthday and they brought me a molten chocolate cake (cupcake size) with a side of vanilla (looked homemade) ice cream, and a strawberry in whip cream...to die for!! Happy B-day was written around the edge of the cake in chocolate sauce! Live music is played on Friday and Saturday nights.....hard to hear to talk, but it was fun!!
Was good ... celebrating daughter's birthday...they surprised her with a birthday dessert and surprised us by charging us for it...it would have been better if they had asked if we wanted a birthday dessert for $$ rather than bringing it without our consent.
Rickey's is attached to the Marin Inn making it super convenient while staying there. We were very pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu and wine selections, the friendly service and the live music. We would definitely out of our way to dine there again!
We had been to Rickey's many times, but this experience served to take it off our list. First, they refused to serve us at the specific table that we had reserved because their server preferred to confine himself to their large separate dining area. My wife ordered a salad as her main course, and after seeing that salad served to another in our party, we asked to change her entree. We met with direct resistance--"the kitchen has already prepared the salad"--and we were charged for the cancelled salad in addition to her entree. My meal of filet was served with onion rings made the day before and with cold and lumpy mashed potatoes and cold green beans. The glass of Merlot with came with my prix fixe meal was undrinkable and had to be sent back. Need I say more? Don't go there. It is no wonder that it was practically empty on a Sunday evening.
I made the reservation by e-mail. I specified in our group there were 2 birthdays. The two birthdays did not get recognized. I eat dinner there quite often with another friend or two so I am very disappointed that the birthdays were not recognized.
