We were in town and decided to have dinner here before ending our day. It was a great choice. We were warmly greeted and taken to our table. From our salads to our dessert, the meal was worthy and sumptuous. Best of all was the Service! Thank you Nelson!
It is always rewarding to settle into out table along the wall and have some familiar faces helping us enjoy our dinner. I had their special veal chop and loved it! While we missed Nelson, Glenn did his best to make sure our meal was everything we expected.
The three course dinner menu special was a great value, we liked the choices and the food was well prepared and tasted delicious!
Great hidden gem. My wife and I have celebrated 10 of our 13 anniversaries here.
So too bad - the food was excellent - it was Mother’s Day - we all liked what we ordered, we liked the decor, but the service was terrible!!! We were seated right away, at a nice booth, got water and cornbread right away, then sat... and sat... and it was not that busy. There was a 3 course menu option that we weren’t told until the waiter FINALLY showed up and told us wasn’t available to order that night - we had to order drinks and food at the same time - then someone else delivered the food, and the waiter just disappeared - never checked to see if we had gotten anything and how it was - he forgot my son’s side order - we didn’t order dessert or coffee because we figured it would take forever. Too bad. The hostess, the people who poured water and cleared were great, but neither the waiter or even the mgr who was running around ever checked on us. We won’t go back. Too bad; the food was really good.
We have eating at this restaurant multiple times while we are traveling through the area. The food and service has always been excellent so mothers day was a real disappointment. The filet mignon was ordered medium rare and it came out well done. We requested potatoes instead of mashed potatoes since we can't have the milk or cream and the re-fire came out with mashed potatoes. really disappointing considering how good it was on previous occasions.
We love Rickeys but it was confusing on Mother's Day. We sit down and they give use menus with the 3 course Sunday Dinner Menu. However, right when we are about to order the waiter says we can no longer order the 3 course meal and he will get in trouble if we do. Why didn't they remove them from the menu? Why did the waiter confirm when we first sat that the menu was available? The waiter rarely came to check on us.
Cocktails were amazing. Food was fantastic. Kids loved the pool. Wait staff and communication left alot to be desired.
Just make sure to check your bill before you pay they always add extra things. Also check your credit card charge amount before you sign, they seem to always charge wrong amount.
The price was ridiculously high for the quality of food and ambiance. Also I got sick immediately after eating there. I spoke with a friend who went to the same event and she also felt that the price was too high and food was so-so. Had to wait a long time for the check and no one ever checked on us. Really disappointed and kind of ruined my mother's day.
Good restaurant. Waiter was writing in his own tips which is not acceptable and against dining etiquette in general and placed patrons in an awkward position. Buffet was good. Service ok. Overpriced for a buffet. Will not recommend.
The last few times we went to Ricky's they have a gnat problem. So its very disconcerting slapping at gnats and hoping they don't land on your food. When they solve that problem the place is great. MAKE RICKY'S GREAT AGAIN.
We had another great meal and fun time together; however, the live music was too loud and we couldn't hear each other talk. We told our waiter and it quieted down a bit, but not enough.. We will definitely come back but maybe not on a live music night...
We had our minds set on our dinners - until we heard to specials. The meals were spectacular! The staff was superior and the restaurant was very welcoming.
Overall it was not a terrible experience, the menu indicated that the baby back ribs slow roasted. It turns out there boiled and had very little flavor. The macaroni and cheese wasn’t what I expected the sauce was a bit chalky. The cornbread was quite good as was the service.
We stopped at the Inn Marin overnight from a grueling trip from Palm Desert to Portland.. We needed to be in Marin and we have a dog so this was the best choice and we were basically stuck with Rickys... We were a little apprehensive about Ricky's because other reviewers alluded to the new ownership as being a negative. However, we were very impressed with the whole experience.. We had a great table, wonderful service and the food was very good. I would absolutely recommend it... (at least at this point in time)
We were seated at a table which turned out to be too close to the band that was setting up. By the time we realized it, other tables were full. Waiter was distracted, part of my meal came out cold. Have had much better experience in the past. This one was not good at all
We arrived right on time and waited for our guest. Our waiter, Nelson , helped us with ideas and our orders. The meal was presented beautifully and the pace and service were great! First class.
We love it here. Nelson and the rest of the staff are awesome! Great food in a warm and comfortable place.
Our waitress was excellent. New owners don't have music on Friday evenings anymore. BIG Mistake. You buy a place that works - you don't start changing everything right away. Waitress also mentioned there would be changes to the menu. New Owners - BE CAREFUL! You could very easily ruin a good thing....
We always enjoy meals at Rickey's(They even hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner.) and our experience on Tuesday was consistent with our previous experiences. Lady D and the Tramps provided wonderful ambiance. Our waiter Jefferson was friendly and attentive. There was cornbread, of course. For an appetizer, we shared jalapeño prawns. I had the small portion scallops and my husband, fettuccini with salmon. Both were very tasty. We'll definitely be back!
Found out that Rickey’s was recently sold to a corporation, and you can already tell it is losing the small town Novato feel. Heaters weren’t working and nothing was done to at least try to get them running. They lowered the kids menu age to 10 and younger when the meals still cost $10 or more. You go to Rickey’s so the kids can swim and you can hang out with friends. Forcing a small child or order off the adult menu when the prices are $20 or more is crazy. And the quality of food doesn’t warrant it. There should be a different menu for the pool just for this reason. And when someone orders a martini, fill the drink to the rim or don’t charge so much for it. I feel that Rickey’s has gone down hill.
Crab Cakes, Bacon Filet and Lamb chops were awesome! Service was impeccable water glasses never empty! We look forward to our next visit
There were eight of us celebrating my husband's birthday. Half of us had the ribs, which were on the dry side. The other half had the raviolis, which were excellent. At the end of the meal, the group wanted the check to be split between two people, but we were told that the check could not be split. That seemed strange since the tip would be larger if the check were split.
Never acknowledged my wife's birthday. Food and service were OK. Also, added tip to bill without notification_not acceptable.
How great to be home on a Sunday and to be able to have a relaxing beautiful dinner with their amazing team, lead my Nelson, who waited on us. Such a privilege.
Always solid, always delicious!
Rickey’s has become MY Marin steakhouse!! Their filet is sheer perfection!! Husband ADORES the scallops!!
We had been traveling and missed having a grand meal with this very professional staff. How great to catch up on life and relax at Rickey’s again.
Greeted warmly when we arrived. I had requested a booth and that was exactly where we were seated. Leslie our server was anxious to see we had a great experience. The service was very good and our water and bread were brought in a timely manner. Good homemade corn bread with sweet butter. A very nice change for the usual French bread. I really appreciate the special menu Rickey’s has on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Not big servings but 3 nice size courses. Didn’t feel rushed and we enjoyed the great food and service. I would definitely go back again.
Good food as usual, good music from Swingset, slow service.
Very poor service, the waiter seemed to think that he could ignore us because they had a forced gratuity due to our party size. We saw the bus boy more than the waiter. Food was mediocre.
Food could have been better. Menu looks great, but the flavors and portion sizes are not acceptable. Prices are too high based upon modest portion sizes. Our waiter kept disappearing and we had to catch bussers in order to locate the waiter. We expected an excellent experience and we were disappointed. We’re done there.
We have gone to Rickey's on several occasions. Food & Service has been good. This night food was good service was bad. The time for the waiter to take our order was much too long. We had to ask staff to remove our empty cocktail glasses and empty plates. It was quite obvious our waiter was more concern with talking to the hostess than attending to his work stations.
Great local place with good ambiance and good value for money and predictable quality food. One of our favorites.
My second visit - really enjoyed first time but on this quiet Thursday night the service was slow and the food variable. My penne pasta bolognese was very ordinary. The pasta might have been from a packet. The sauce on my wife’s portobello mushroom seemed slightly burnt. Our sons’ ravioli and burger were both good. All in all, somewhat disappointing.
I was invited to go see the band, very enjoyable evening. The music was great the food was nice although the petite fillet was about the size of a lifesaver.
So happy to have gluten free choices. Very serious condition for some people that have Celiac. Hope Chief's work on keeping gluten free dishes separate from foods that do have gluten.
The restaurant is under new management but the menu has been the same since I began going to Rickey’s. Menu needs some changes.
We were at Rickey's twice last week. Both times were last minute decisions. The hostess did a wonderful job of getting us a booth on both occasions. We had our great grandson (5 yrs) the 2nd time. Jorge was our waiter both times. The service was excellent, as was the food. We hope that the new owners will continue the Rickey's traditions of small plate menus, Rickey's supper club cards, and the three item fixe price menu. In our opinion, Rickey's is one of the best restaurants in Marin County.
Had a very enjoyable dinner at Ricky's. Food was very good and priced well.
We have been busy and distracted and traveling and we even expected to be traveling today, when that was changed by one week. Having the weekend home gave us the option of treating ourselves to a warm and tasty dinner for two at a remarkable restaurant. Rickey’s was our first choice. Having the best waiter and staff that we know waiting on us made the chive especially rewarding,
