Rick Erwin's West End Grille Ratings and Reviews
We went for Valentine's dinner on the Saturday after Valentine's. We arrived just before our reservation and they seated us within a few minutes of arriving. The server was attentive, but not intrusive. From the bread and salad to our entrees and dessert, everything we ordered was truly delectable. We ordered the petit filet, the four cheese macaroni, and the crab cakes, which come with rice and vegetables. It was very well prepared and the portions were generous.
The ambiance of the restaurant was just what I prefer. The tables were not on top of each other, which meant you had the opportunity to have a quiet conversation without the hustle and bustle of other diners and servers.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner from start to finish. I would have no hesitation in recommending it if you are looking for a nice dinner out. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for. While we won't be a regular patron, it will be my go-to restaurant for special occasions.
This is our absolute favorite restaurant in Greenville and we decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day there this year.
Initially, we felt rushed with our starter arriving before we were finished with our drink and then the wine arrived immediately after.
I stopped our waitress and asked her to slow things down and she did. When my entree arrived, seared tuna, it was blue and cold. I did not complain about it but I was only able to eat a small amount. My husband’s Sea Bass was excellent and dessert was wonderful.
Amazing! The food was incredible and at the end of the date Rick Erwin himself came to make sure everything was great! Even got free dessert because the food came out a little late but not too bad! The service made up for it and I didn’t even notice until he told us and offered the dessert.
It took 45 minutes to an hour to get out food. The server sad the manager would stop by but he wouldn’t come to the table. She charged us for water that she never brought to the table. I was very disappointed in the service considering the amount of money we spent.
We visited Rick Erwin's West End Grill for dinner before a play at The Peace Center. My girlfriend and I both ordered the 3 for $45 meal. My seafood bisque soup was great. The best I have ever eaten. My salmon was excellent and her steak was perfectly cooked. We both were pleased with our choices. Our server, Chelsea, was beyond excellent. So attentive and accommodating. We actually did not have time to finish desserts so she held it until we could return after the play. We sat in the bar and had our desserts and a few drinks. Even in the bar area she would check on us . Actually had a chance to meet and speak with Mr. Erwin. He was gracious and wanted us to know how much he appreciated us being there.
We are never disappointed when we decide to dine here. Reservations are easy to make even though it seemed like it wasn't necessary. We were seated immediately at the very same table we celebrated our wedding anniversary a few years earlier. The atmosphere in this place is very soothing and reserve. Our chef and waitresses were very friendly and made it a effortless evening for my wife and I. I reference this establishment every time I want to celebrate any significant events or just a special night out with the misses. My kids love this place as well, plenty of options for those picky eaters. I will continue to use Rick Erwin's as my go to restaurant for all my special occasions.
Overall the experience was great!!! The food was delicious and the service was good. The only concern was the length of time it took to get food to the table f on the time we ordered. We had tickets to show at 8:00 and was running out door to make it to Peace Center with 8 minutes to spare. Our reservation was 5:30. The waitress tried hard to expedite things but dessert took forever to be delivered to the table which caused the panic. Hope next visit will be different.
Wonderful experience from start to finish. Reservation was honored without hesitation, we were even seated 10 min early since we arrived ahead of schedule. Our waiter Mal was very personable and attentive. Available menu options were wonderful. Side item portions were very generous. My steak was prepared just as I asked and tasted delicious. I will gladly be returning for future occasions.
The only downside was the oil served with the fresh bread. I didn’t care for the taste of the oil mixture at all. The bread was wonderful by itself though.
Food was delicious- it was Restaurant Week
so the three course menu was well priced. The atmosphere is “old school” but that is a plus as you could actually hear the other people at your table. Not so close to the other tables that you also could hear their comments. Lively bar scene with a younger crowd and live music. Will definitely be back for another meal and may hit the bar one evening, too. Valet parking made parking a breeze. Wonderful service- always checking without hovering. No rush for bill which was a nice touch as in some restaurants as soon as the last bite is consumed, they are ready to turn the table,
This was not the case here. Again, we will go back!
The service, food, ambience... EVERYTHING was top-notch. We had ordered a side to share at the table and quietly stated among ourselves that it had bacon in it. (One of the guests cannot have pork) We were not going to say a word about it. We should have asked. Overhearing us, one of the wait staff (not our server), passed this along to the kitchen and they made us another without bacon. Our dishes were perfectly prepared. The lamb was the best ever, from any restaurant we've had. They even brought out a very lovely dessert with a cookie for our birthday guest.
The service was exquisite and the food was cooked to order and the dessert was to die for....me and my date had a fabulous time dining there and just enjoying conversation and not feeling rushed to leave....we will definitely have another date at Rick Erwin’s in the future
