Rick Erwin's West End Grille Ratings and Reviews
Food was delicious- it was Restaurant Week
so the three course menu was well priced. The atmosphere is “old school” but that is a plus as you could actually hear the other people at your table. Not so close to the other tables that you also could hear their comments. Lively bar scene with a younger crowd and live music. Will definitely be back for another meal and may hit the bar one evening, too. Valet parking made parking a breeze. Wonderful service- always checking without hovering. No rush for bill which was a nice touch as in some restaurants as soon as the last bite is consumed, they are ready to turn the table,
This was not the case here. Again, we will go back!
The service, food, ambience... EVERYTHING was top-notch. We had ordered a side to share at the table and quietly stated among ourselves that it had bacon in it. (One of the guests cannot have pork) We were not going to say a word about it. We should have asked. Overhearing us, one of the wait staff (not our server), passed this along to the kitchen and they made us another without bacon. Our dishes were perfectly prepared. The lamb was the best ever, from any restaurant we've had. They even brought out a very lovely dessert with a cookie for our birthday guest.
The service was exquisite and the food was cooked to order and the dessert was to die for....me and my date had a fabulous time dining there and just enjoying conversation and not feeling rushed to leave....we will definitely have another date at Rick Erwin’s in the future
One of my favorite restaurants, but we can only afford to frequent for special occasions. Since this was New Year's Eve, we had to take a very early reservation before the show we were attending. The food is absolutely fabulous regardless of what you order. This visit, my husband enjoyed a steak entrée and I had the surf & turf.We took home 2 slices of the cheesecake. It was to die for and one slice would've been plenty to share. Among all the Rick Erwin restaurants, I consider this one the top of the line. This restaurant has valet parking & a reputable coat/hat check. We will be requesting a window table in the future. We don't particularly care of the long line of tables. There's just no privacy - we can't help listening to other's conversations and don't care for them to hear our conversation either.
The West End Grille never disappoints. The food is outstanding and steaks are always cooked to order. Our meals varied from crab cakes to steaks, to grouper, and the surf and turf special. Each member of our party raved about their food. Service was exceptional-just right and unobtrusive. We (a family party of seven) were there for an early New Year's Eve dinner and the restaurant was heavily booked. We asked to add another person at the last minute and the restaurant graciously accommodated us, even though they were overbooked. Madison, the hostess, could not be more pleasant or helpful.
We had a wonderful night, though we were a little disappointed that the 2 for $32 dollar menu was replaced with a more expensive, and less appealing New Year's Eve menu for the weekend. Our server did everything in her power to see that we got the most out of our meal after that was revealed.
This was the best restaurant experience we have had in Greenville. My husband is hearing impaired so I always ask for a quiet table so we can actually have a conversation. It doesn't always happen, which ruins our evening. They seated us at a table for 2 at the window on an elevated area which was perfect. The food was outstanding, we were not rushed through our courses, and the service was impeccable. Once we got our quiet table it was uphill from there. It was Christmas eve and the only thing missing? Looking out the window and seeing snow. Maybe next year.
We love to come to RE for special occasions like Christmas Eve. The food is always delicious and the service usually excellent. This past CE our waiter forgot our salad and the separate checks were all messed up. These small problems have not happened before.
We came here while in town on business after one of our customers highly recommended it for dinner. We made reservations and we were greeted at the front door by the valet who held the door for us to enter. The hostess seated us right away and offered to take our coats and place them in their coat room. We declined the offer but it was a very nice touch.
Our waiter was absolutely amazing. He greeted us, poured us some water, and then made some very well informed suggestions from the wine menu based on our tastes. When the bottle he suggested wasn’t available he brought over another option that was amazing. He then launched into what can only be described as a well orchestrated journey through the menu options. His descriptions were engaging and delivered with so much excitement I wanted to order everything on the menu. Next we ordered appetizers - oysters (which I can stomach but my coworker raved about) and calamari (which was the best calamari I’ve ever had). Dinner came next - the ahi tuna for my coworker and a surf and turf for myself. We sat in silence for a while as we savored each and every bite of our selections - because there were no words to describe the feast that was laid before us. This was, by far, the most amazing dinner I have had stateside. The filet was cooked perfectly, the lobster was fresh, the vegetables were perfectly paired, and the mashed potatoes - seriously no word to describe how amazing they were. I mean they’re mashed potatoes - who would have thought they could taste that perfect?!?
We were offered dessert but we just couldn’t manage anymore food after what we had eaten.
I’d recommend this place if you’re ever in the area and up to splurging on a dinner - you will not be disappointed.
When I return to the Greenville area I will definitely be visiting again!
Our server Connor was excellent! He was very polite and gave us his recommendations on what to order since it was our first time coming to Rick Erwin’s. The food was some of the best I had ever had and the whole experience made our night very special!
This was the worst experience I have had at a fine restaurant. We started off with the eggs and crab cake, which was delicious. My husband and my pastor ordered lamb chops and me and pastor's wife ordered the salmon. Our salmon didn't have any seasoning and was not cooked well. The men lamb chops were extremely fat. We sent it back and got a shared meal. By this time we had been there 2 hours and was over not getting great food. My husband and I got the chicken penn with macaroni, I didn't eat it, they boxed it up. My pastors ordered a shared steak and it was not good, so we asked for the check. My pastors paid $211 for food we didn't eat because of the taste. The manager came over and apologized for the first food not being good, but no one followed up after. The host was not really interacting with us and seemed to not want to be there. This was my first and last time eating here. I was very disappointed.
We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Lamb chops were excellent and the pea risotto was a perfect accompaniment. Dining partner had lobster tails which were also excellent. He asked and was told that they were small, so he ordered the plate with two. Perfect. Foie Gras appetizer was also excellent. I was skeptical when I saw on the menu that it came with cornbread. The presentation exceeded my expectations - not your typical cornbread! Since we were dining prior to attending a play called "The Cake", we had to have a piece of cake. Large serving of caramel macchiato - whew! Service was excellent. This IS a pricey place, so don't be surprised.
