Rick Erwin's West End Grille Ratings and Reviews
Mediocre at best. Very disappointed in the food, tryIng too hard wth bad results. Undercooked food, way too much salt used in seasoning of food that was actually cooked. Pretentious and unimpressive wine list! Only good thing was our waiter who was very professional and courteous and totally wasted in this restaurant.
Had dinner reservations but we were so much fun in the bar we ended up eating there. Michelle and Wilson (?) were fantastic. Great knowledge of the wine list, excellent service even at peak capacity and great food. Menu is not super unique but the food is dependable and well presented.
We were so disappointed with the food. We were a party of 10 and everyone who ordered the steak agreed it was mostly fat and little meat. The crab cakes were 75% filler. Not worth the $200 plus bill for just my family of 3. We had heard so much about this place and were extremely disappointed with the quality of food.
Our server seemed annoyed that we were placed in his section to start, and things never really got better from there. We asked for recommendations on certain dishes, and he couldn't give any nor could he discuss the dishes we had questions about. Steak and lobster were both very good, but we felt as if we had inconvenienced our server the whole time. I could handle this at a sandwich shop, but I do expect more from a place such as this. Most likely the last time we visit the West End Grille.
We had our 39 anniversary on October 28. I chose the open table and was pleasantly surprised. It was suite and the food was great I had the ribeye the best I think I have ever had everything was cooked just like we ordered I hate to have to send something back. Great Job
Decided to stay away from steak and tried the lamb. Would not repeat. Not well cooked and lacked flavor. Server was ok but not the best at Ricks. This place has major competition in Greenville and it was very quiet on a Friday night while every other place was packed. It may be losing its mojo a little. I think I will give it a miss for a while
Rather poor in every respect.
A local chain one up from Arby’s. Low standard of cooking and ingredients surprised me. Slow service. Above average wine list but few bottles below $50.
And you have to pay for parking.
Do yourself a favor and give this one a miss.
Excellent food, excellent service. Apps, salads, main dishes, etc were delivered to the table in a time sensitive matter. They even prepared a half portion of sweet potatoes and delivered to the table early for our 18mo daughter. We sat near the front line for the food, so it was kinda loud, but works out for us since we had a youngster with us. Prices were high, but for the quality of food and service, I feel like it was a good value. For 2 people be prepared for $60+++ Overall a great dining experience.
Absolutely fantastic experience. Steaks were perfectly prepared and service executed the experience perfectly.
The wine list is noteworthy, there are some exceptional values on the list (we enjoyed 2009 opus for $315 and 2011 continuum for $275)
We first ate at Rick Erwin's 8 years ago and remembered the food knocking our socks off. We had not been back in 8 years, but on our more recent visit last week, it was still very good...but no longer remarkable. The filet was spot on, but the lamb was very fatty. The service was impeccable and the ambiance was perfect. So overall, it was a very good experience, but the value of the food for the price paid was not what we remembered.
This restaurant was amazing. The waiter and help staff were very kind and asked us if we were celebrating anything special before we even sat down. They went out of their way to wish my husband a happy birthday on many occasions. The food was delicious - the calamari was some of the best I've ever had!
We visited to celebrate our son receiving his Eagle Scout rank. We drove (2) hours to visit this restaurant and the area and it was well worth the trip.
Our waiter Jonathan was very knowledgeable and accommodating. He explained all our options and made valuable recommendations. We were not rushed and were given time to enjoy our meal.
I/we will return to this restaurant again for special occasions!
Everything was wonderful from the friendly employees to my waiter, Jonathan and the excellent food! Loved the atmosphere and setting of the restaurant. Order the lobster tail and steak and it was DELICIOUS! It is expensive but well worth it. Will be back again.
Since I moved to Greenville 14 years ago, the West End Grill always had the cache of being the spot for people 'in the know'. Not trendy, not hip, but forever classy and elegant. I went for the first time to celebrate an anniversary. The place did not disappoint! The food was great and our waiter was all you hoped for at such a place; very attentive without being annoying; personable, prompt and fun. We had a great evening and will definitely rerun, this time without waiting for so many years.
