Rick Erwin’s Nantucket Seafood Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated our sixth anniversary and this was an awesome experience! The wait staff treated us wonderful and the food was absolutely incrediable. We will definitely go back and I would highly recommend this for any special occasion or just a nice date night during the week.
My husband was a bit skeptical of this restaurant because it is attached to a hotel. But we have been to another of Rick Erwin’s restaurants and it was very good, so we thought we’d give it a try-and you can’t beat the location!! We had a great experience here. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. We came after a matinee performance at the Peace Center. It is right across the street. We ordered the special:a seafood trio of lobster tail, crab cake and seared scallops. I shared one with my daughter and it was plenty of food. We also got the greens salad and it was very tasty. The large is enough to share. My husband ordered the same thing,as it sounded too good to pass on! Everything was cooked perfectly. The crab cake was one of the best I’ve had and the scallops were superb. The lobster tail was tender and served with a remoulade sauce. Yummy!! Would definitely go back!
This was my 5th or 6th visit to your restaurant, so obviously, I'm a fan! Admittedly, it has been a while since my last visit, so maybe this visit was just a fluke. In the past, we ordered omelettes from the kitchen, we heard there was now an omelette station, so looked forward to that. Additionally, I am now living a low carb life style, so to be looking forward to the omelette station, only to find out the station was out of commission during our visit, it was very disappointing.
A couple of other things...
We were seated in the center 1/2 booth, 1/2 table area and could see a layer of dust on the area in the center, behind the booth seating, so just a heads up there.
And, lastly, I wanted to close with a comment on the service. As always, it was excellent!
Please understand these things will not stop me from coming in, I will return, and as long as it was just a fluke, I'll be back again and again.
This is our second time to eat here, and both meals have been great. The facility is nice, and the seating is comfortable, it never got loud. The service is very professional, and they went out of their way to make sure it felt like a special occasion for us. The food is very good, with many of the ingredients being sourced locally and all of the seafood being done very well. Extensive wine list. You get what you pay for.
We were seated in a small back room, only 5 tables, lovely and quite. The staff was friendly but the overall service was very slow. Reservations were for 6pm, told the waitress we were seeing the show at 8pm. Left restaurant at 7:50.
The food was under seasoned, even the bread lacked flavor. Borrowed a salt shaker for neighboring table to use on bread, made a big taste difference.
Have eater at restaurant a few times, for the price the food’s seasoning needs to be kicked up.
Would recommend with comments
Although the food was quite good, the staff appeared to be engaged in some form of “speed dining.” Rather than facilitating a relaxed meal, the wait staff rushed the courses such that a three-course meal was pushed in less than an hour. Perhaps this is untrained staff; regardless, it represented extremely poor service. Would not return.
I travel the U.S., Pueto Rico, U.S. Virgin Isles on a regular basis. A food and wine enthusiast, this was one of the best seafood meals I have had this year, and I have dined on seafood in Snn Francisco, Baltimore, Florida, Maine, SC, NC, and New England.
Service was exceptional.
Kudos Rick Erwin, nice to know someone gets it.
The service and Food was amazing. Robert, our server, was top shelf. He knew the menu inside and out and his wine selection was on point. The shrimp and grits was amazing and my fiance surf amd turf was cooked to prefection. We will be coming back again to ask for him. 5 star.
Went for Sunday brunch buffet for my birthday. Service was excellent. I received a complimentary glass of champagne for my birthday which was very nice. The carving station was great but the buffet hot dishes were cold. If you are a meat eater the prime rib looked amazing and the ham was very tasty.
The dessert bar was mediocre. The strawberry cobbler was runny and tasteless. All in all I would have a hard time returning and spending $24 again for the buffet. Just a personal choice.
As soon as I sat down and the waiter swapped the white napkin for a black one (I was wearing black) I knew we were going to have a special experience - and we weren't disappointed. The quiet luxury, professional and knowledgeable service, and of course most important, excellent food made this a restaurant that we can't wait to go back to. After living in NY for 30 yrs, we moved to Charlotte and were visiting Greenville for a weekend with friends. Great town and now we've found the best restaurant.
It kills me to write this review, because we've always loved Rick Erwin's Nantucket Grille, and have thought of it as our go-to place for special occasions. But last night really stunned us. The food as usual was still very good, but the service was harried and erratic, and we had to ask for everything--cocktail menu, butter, dessert menu. Once our waiter walked away while I was in the middle of a question. It was a busy night, but not insane, but we definitely felt untaken care of. We mentioned this to our server, and he got the manager, and the manager apologized and said he would see what he could do. Our first round of drinks were comped. Not really enough of an apology to bring us back. From now on it's Larkin's or Gianni's.
We had cocktails at the bar before dinner. Our bartender was the best and on top of everything anyone might need! We were seated promptly at our reservation time and it was a very busy evening with a large corporate event. The wait staff did not miss a beat with excellent service!
My wife and I picked Rick Erwin's based on several online reviews and their website. At best the food was OK . We should have know when we were escorted to the main dining room and we were the only two people in there that we had not made a good choice. There were people in the bar area drinking and eating and a few people seated outside. When we previewed the online menu there were several selections that looked very good; however, they were not available . One of the reviews said "the best seafood in South Carolina' - not correct.
