Rick Erwin’s Nantucket Seafood Ratings and Reviews
We were a bit disappointed. We've dined here before and thoroughly enjoyed it. The server at that time was very informative and helpful with the menu. This time was a different experience. Our server was not well informed about the menu, had to leave the table and ask about something as simple as the clam chowder soup. She also had no idea about the wine menu. Being that it was our anniversary, and we let them know ahead of time that it was our anniversary, I feel the restaurant should have assigned a more experienced server to the table. It was very clear that this was the servers first or 2nd day, so I do not really fault her for this, but I do fault the floor manager for not being aware of the guests and their celebration. We will dine there again because the food was excellent. Hopefully it will be a better experience.
This asks about my last visit. I've been there twice. The first time would be completely top-rated. But this time my trout was burned. It was not listed as "blackened" and wasn't burned the first time I ordered it. It was delicious then. But this time, not good. I didn't complain because I didn't want to spoil the mood.
Having been to the Rick Erwin's Westend Grille twice and thoroughly enjoying both visits we were unfortunately a bit disappointed in the Nantucket Seafood restaurant. I started with the clam chowder and didn't eat it as I didn't enjoy the taste, my husbands steak was overcooked and had to go back and we had to wait at least 20 minutes for our dessert of creme brûlée to come out. We did enjoy the crab cake and the calamari. Our visit was on a busy Saturday night but we arrived at 5pm, service at the beginning of dinner was good but as the restaurant filled up we were left waiting too long. I think we will stick with the Westend Grille next time. Sorry.
We were surprised that the seafood pasta entree was gone. Also, they changed the recipe for the scallops oscar. I preferred the old recipe. When something was that good, don't mess with it. The service was excellent. We always feel special for a special event; our 27th Anniversary.
Excellent. We had our grandson with us and our waitress went out of her way to entertain and take care of him. He was a little prince during the dinner and she did her share to help. We gave her a very large tip as a thanks.
We also appreciated the religious Christmas carols that were playing in the restaurant. Christmas is about Christ and it was nice hearing beautiful music including the religious Carols while eating our dinner. Thanks!
Awesome food, well prepared. Problem is, we waited a bit long for drinks, aps were on time, but the meal was really late due to some sort of mix up. The waitstaff were pros and the manager delightful. Things can happen, so while my overall rating has to be reflective of the experience this time, I'll definitely give them another shot!
I hate to right a bad review, but honestly we have gone to RE's for years now - and over time, it has become a restaurant that we are not interested in spending our money or time. Whether it is the Eastside or Nantucket restaurant (we don't go to the other one any more), the service is very lackluster...it's a shame because the food is actually good - but for time and value of $ there are so many other great restaurants that we will not be going here again.
We came to introduce business associates to Greenville and during the meal we closed the deal! Great to have Rick himself come up and greet the table, it always makes people feel like the management cares. Nantucket is one of our go-to places in Greenville when we have guests that we want to start out with a favorable impression. Well done once again.
Unfortunately, this was not the experience we expected. We have been here before and the whole experience was amazing. This time it was barely average. Our drinks were not brought in a timely manner. Our wine glasses were always empty and our server was rarely in sight. The food was served warm instead of hot and the hush puppies were on the verge of being what I consider burned(one shade lighter than black). Would have sent the food back, but didn't want to wait another hour. Staff was friendly, but the experience was disappointing for the $$$ we spent. We had a party of six and were crammed in a corner. The restaurant was not even close to full capacity. We were disappointed and ashamed after we had bragged to family how great it was going to be. They were not impressed. Neither were we.
We were a bit skeptical of seafood in the Upstate, having just moved to Greenville from Charleston. But we were both floored by the entire experience, from the rich mahogany wine room and cozy dining room to the absolutely amazing food. Hands down, it was better than the best seafood we've had in Charleston in the past 15 years! We both had the special of the evening--the trio of lobster tail, crab cakes, and scallops. Just wow. This is my new favorite restaurant and I can't wait to take everyone who visits.
Our server, Victoria, was fantastic. She really knew the menu and great description of the specials. She knew we were on a schedule because of a show at Peace Center, so she maintained a great dinner pace. When there was an issue with a dish, she immediately brought over her manager, Kimberly who resolved the situation to our complete satisfaction. Kudu's to them both.
As has been my experience with all Rick Erwin restaurants, the waitstaff tries to upsell you on everything: wine, drinks, food specials, etc. Beware the cost of the specials as these can sound like similar offerings to the standard menu items, but can cost more than twice as much. ALWAYS ask the price of the specials (which they never offer without your asking) before ordering. That being said, the location, ambience and attentiveness of the staff is excellent. The food is good and the portion sizes are on the small side. The menu is limited, but there is sufficient selection, and they offer both large and smaller portions of most choices (again, watch for the upsell). I recommend Erwin's Nantucket Seafood with the above cautions.
We celebrated our sixth anniversary and this was an awesome experience! The wait staff treated us wonderful and the food was absolutely incrediable. We will definitely go back and I would highly recommend this for any special occasion or just a nice date night during the week.
