Richardson's Cuisine of New Mexico Ratings and Reviews
We always love Richardson’s. Food is great and a place that has been around for a long time. Great service and the folks that work there are awesome. Downside is that it is small and can be noisy. Be patient your food can take awhile but nice to have a glass of wine and relax. Still one of my favorites.
We love authentic New Mexican food, and you do not disappoint. You have a great selection of fish, meat, tapas, drinks, that we always find SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE! The waiter was a concierge, giving us more information than we usually get at other restaurants. You were able to accommodate three different diets for our group of five, and everything was professionally prepared. We'll be back! Billie Thompson
Normally it’s very good, but this night the food was served cold and when it went back to the kitchen to be reheated it came back with a large amount of red hot spicy sauce added to the plate. We could NOT even eat it. My friends from Australia ordered specifically that their food not be spiced. Well, that cleared killed the whole experience. We all drove a far distance to meet for dinner their and it was a total bust!
I was not going to put this negative review on open table. I called Richardsons and explained what had happened that night. The manager said she would talk to owner about step, find out who took the reservation and send a gift card to me to come back. After a week and a half I never received a call so I called her back. She apologized and said she was let go right after she talked to me. She told me to call Clark. I called again and asked for Clark. I was told her wasn't there and asked to speak to the manager on duty. She hung up on me. Then I sent an email to the business office for Richardsons and haven't had a reply.
1. I called to change the reservations from 8 to 9 people. Was told no problem we will take care of it. When we arrived they had a booth for six which we couldn't fit. They sat us at stools and little cocktail tables in the cove. We had to hold our plates on our laps and I had to cut my mothers food before putting her plate on her lap.
2. When going into the cove I didn't see the step and fell onto the ground. My leg and foot swelled and turned black and blue. (My foot is still sore to walk). I was never offered ice, something to put my leg up, etc. Not even a round of drinks was offered. The manager I spoke to after on the phone told me she was on duty and no one informed her that I fell.
3. A couple of us ordered the cordon bleu and it was terrible. A large piece of bread with a dry chicken breast and a little slice of ham.
We were all so disappointed. We always take out of towners to rokerji and decided to try richardsons for the ambience. We have never had a bad meal or service at Rokerji. We had out of town family and it was to be a family dinner for everyone to see each other. As of today I still haven't heard from anyone from Richardsons. Really bad customer service.
I ordered the chili relleno with duck and something else. It might have been beef. While the sauce was pretty good, I could not find, nor taste the duck or whatever the other meat was. I think the chilis should have been improved upon. I like a very hot pepper.
Food was mixed for party of seven. Some excellent, some mediocre, especially the New Mexican dishes. Very disappointed that they will not provide provide separate bills to a party of seven, just one bill per table. Very loud, uncomfortable booth. Will not recommend or return.
I'm sorry to have to say that our experience on this visit wasn't the best. We had been once before to Richardsons and were anticipating our return visit. It was much better the first time. This time our server tried to be attentive but she must have had too many tables to take care of. It would have been nice if she noticed that we ate very little of our entrees and inquired about why that was. Our food was just OK. I remembered it as being much better the first time we visited. I had the Carne Adovado and there was a lot of fat in the dish. My husband had the enchiladas and they just weren't as good as the last time we were there. Our friend had among other things, the sliders and they were dry and though. Our server did take them off the bill, after we told her, which was much appreciated. Its quite a drive for us to get there and I don't think we will make the effort again.
I took my out-of-town girlfriends to Richardson's because they wanted good Mexican or SW food. What they got was excellent New Mexican food. They loved it! Our meals were all delicious and so were the cocktails. I had the tri-tip special and it was very good. Always a great meal at Richardson's!
Richardson's is very very noisy and we could not have conversation at the table because of it. A menu recommendation was made for me, but when the food arrived it was undercooked scallops - very rubbery. The service was mediocre. The other guests with us liked the enchiladas and the sliders, but the mole dish did not taste much like mole. I will likely not return. Parking is by valet.
Met another couple for dinner and drinks. Reservations from OP made it easy with no wait. Drinks are great, a few beer taps that span the spectrum. Garlic app was excellent, fresh and cooked at order. Food was spectacular, prime rib is big. My gf and I shared the rib, then we made another meal out of the doggy bag. Our guests shared the tacos, thought they were great. We had a nite cap out in the patio bar, comfortable even in July.
Great nite, nice place. Free Valet makes it quick and easy.
Our server was horrible. Group of 4. 2 meals came out, 1 was not right. The other 2 meals never came. We told server several times and told what was missing. The wrong entire meal, not even the right entree was delivered 4 times. We called for Manager and the meal still came out wrong. I finally got my meal along with the other missing meal after an hour and half. We all got comp'ed, but it was the worst experience I have ever had.
Richardson's continues to be a standout restaurant after all these years and even a fire-forced change of location. Varied menu with good choices in fish and New Mexican. I deviated by going with pasta and it was all right, but I'll stick with the other entrees in the future. Nice ambiance, casual, friendly service.
We came to celebrate 2 birthdays and had some very good and different food, including a spicy prime rib and fresh sea bass. Other members of the group tried a variety of dishes and all were pleased. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. The down sides were the noise level; could not hear others across the table, and the prices. This was a very expensive dinner per person, something you might expect at a more formal and higher-end appearing restaurant.
We went here for Father's day. He used to come here every weekend with friends for lunch but hasn't been in over a year. We brought him here and they made his favorite brunch special even though they weren't offering it that day. It really did make his whole Father's day. Also, we had a lot of dietary restrictions and our waitress Liz was extremely accommodating rather than frustrated with all our substitutions.
I already sent an email directly to the restaurant, buy I can tell you I was deeply disappointed. I made the original reservation about 4 weeks ago and recently updated it to be a table only, not a booth. A couple of people in our group are physically challenged and sitting at a table is easier.
After I made the change through my online reservation, a couple of days later the restaurant called to confirm. We went over the details and the caller confirmed the table request was fine. Not once did she mention that the ONLY table was outside without the luxury of A/C or even misters! Mind you it was about 104° that day in Phoenix.
The food. Eh. One appetizer was severely delayed because it was served to another table! There was no apology. No visit from the manager.
All in all, the evening was truly a disappointment. We won't be going back any time soon.
I took my staff for a birthday dinner. We arrived 10 minutes early. There was no one to help or any acknowledgment of our presence. We went to Rockerij where we were met promptly and led back to Richardsons. We waited while they got a table ready and the hostess reminded us we were a little to early as if she was annoyed. We got a table eventually. Our orders were taken and the server was not completely knowledgable of the menu and forgot a few things. When appetizers arrived the bottle of water at the table was spilled onto my lap by the clumsy server. NO APOLOGIES from her whatsoever. In the end the experience was acceptable and I gladly left a 50 cash tip. I get an email from Opentable that we did not honor our reservation according to Richardsons. Overall in was a disappointing dining experience but we tried to be understanding and gracious to our server. Richarsons did not return the favor.
