Food was very good and our waiter (Erich) was great and made it an enjoyable Brunch. I highly recommend giving it a try
The experience was good service was great until we were asked to leave 10 minutes after we paid our check....dont go if you plan to make an evening of it.
Fantastic food with great service. Possibly the best Mexican food I've had. And if you like spicy....they won't disappoint. The bacon wrapped shrimp is a must have! Cocktails were great. The service was outstanding. I would make a trip back to Phoenix just to eat at Richardson's again!
When we travel to Phoenix, we always try to dine at Richardson’s-unique and delicious! Thank you!
This was our worst dining experience ever. The food was burned. One dish came to the table literally boiling. The server was incredibly rude the entire time. The bus boy started clearing the table before two of us were finished. We are fairly laid back people, and this was over the top. Do not eat here.
Been s favorite of ours for years. Love the Hatch green chilies.
I have been coming to Richardson’s family of restaurants for years- always great things. This experience was different in that it took 40 min to get chips and salsa as an appetizer, and an hour + 40 for entrees. No special dietary requests or anything. They were packed as it was Friday night and the manager was accommodating and took care of some charges for us for the trouble, but not sure if it was an evening where they were understaffed or what. I will be back, as they are usually a great group of restaurants and not a chain. Maybe this was an outlier experience, but I would be sure to be prepared in case it was like this again. For example, I would likely not choose it for a client dinner just in case.
Great Experience! I was turned on to Richardson's in the mid 90's by a hotel bartender at what was then the downtown Hilton and have been coming back ever since.
On this occasion we had a 6 top of people from all over the United States gathering for a memorial. Boston, New York, Mpls/St. Paul and Atlanta/Nashville. A variety of tastes and preferences to which all left the restaurant saying, "Wow".
I had called ahead and mentioned our situation and the staff was superb. We got there at 7:00pm, table was ready and we were off to the races.
Staff was fabulous throughout the evening. Our server Liz and her runners were always on the spot. It was one of those times when you thought you wanted something or had a question and miraculously someone was there to address the desire.
The food was amazing! We ordered several entrees and ate family style. This gave those that hadn't experienced the SW cuisine (that being offered by Richardson's) a thorough try. Very much like the "Goldilocks Experience", not to much this, just enough of that...overall just right.
The last thing I would talk about is the ambiance. We would call it fun. For the most part the tables are all high-backed booths with pounded copper tables which offers intimacy for conversations and some protection from the serving activity. Look at the pictures on-line to get a good representation.
Would I recommend this place? NOOOOOO. It's hard enough getting reservations, why do I want more people to compete with? Seriously, I wouldn't hesitate to take anyone here and it's a must stop for me whenever we're in town.
The 2nd last thing (yes, there's a 2nd last thing). Between my wife and I, our 3 kids and their significant others, all but two have fine dining experience. The above experience occurred on a Friday evening @ 7pm during one of the busiest spring weekends of the year.
Top shelf restaurant with the history to prove it!!!
The service was fantastic and the food was superb! The noise level was a little too loud for me and the music was not my type. Hard to speak to table members
Had not been there for a long time, as I do not live close by. It was always one of my favorite restaurants and I was so pleased to see that it is still great. Service was great. One of my favorite appetizers was no longer on the menu so I asked my waiter about it. He asked the kitchen about it and they came out to let me know that they would fix it for us. It was spectacular. The item was tomatillo toast. Great restaurant!
We had a very nice lunch here. We were seated at a booth inside. There were also nice tables in the patio area, but we didn't want to be in the sun. They had a bar inside where we were and one outside on the patio. There was a wood burning fireplace inside. I had the spicy chicken tostadas and my husband had the chili relleno. We both liked our dishes. I really liked the green sauce . My husband liked the red (said it was spicier). The margaritas were okay-more margarita mix than tequila by a long shot. So pretty weak, but still tasty. The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. Looks way better inside than when you pull up to it outside. There is only valet parking here.
I love the NM cuisine and the decor. It is way too noisy for much conversation.
If you visit, order the New Mexican dishes because that's what they do best. The fish options were good, but not in keeping with New Mexican cuisine and. This is a good date spot because many of the tables and booths are in little nooks for privacy. The sweet potato filled chili is supposed to be what they are known for but for me, it was a bit meh. Great cocktails.
Last night, my wife and I had the worst dining experience ever at Richardson’s, on 16th Street in Phoenix. We made dinner reservations, arrived on time, and my wife and I were dressed up for a night out. We have been to Richardson’s many times. They used to be great, but last night, Richardson’s failed.
The hostess refused to sit us inside the restaurant even though there were many vacant tables. She said the vacant tables were set aside for other reservations. But we had made reservations, we said. She said they were being held in reserve for parties of 4, not 2, although that was not specified when I made our Open Table reservation. She offered to sit us at the bar – but diners don’t need reservations to sit at the bar. We didn’t want that, so she sat us outside, at a very small, cocktail high-top table – at another bar. All around us were vacant tables, except for 2 men sitting at one table.
We asked our server if we could relocate to a vacant table around us. She said she had to ask the hostess, who came out and said the same thing to us as previously – the tables were designated for parties of 4 or more. Really? What about the two men who just left that table near us? She said they were there for some time. What? She offered to bring out the manager and he came out to talk to us – but really what he did was nothing. He would not accommodate our request to relocate to the table that was just vacated by the 2 men. At that point in time my wife and I decided to leave Richardson’s, feeling as if we were being discriminated against.
Richardson’s has forgotten that excellent customer service is equally as important as the quality of food, and they have lost their ability to treat customers with dignity and respect – and in turn they have lost a long term customer. How many others have they lost, or will they lose, due to embarrassingly disgraceful management? We will tell our family and friends to avoid Richardson’s at all costs.
Fabulous brunch......wonderful service. Excellent Carne Adovada benedict and amazing Ham on the midwestern.
I took out of town friends and they absolutely loved the food!! It was unusually “freezing” cold that night and the majority of the tables are sort of inside outside and we were by a large door that they couldn’t close because of the fire code. It was really cold, wet and rainy and the wind was blowing .... so we were a little uncomfortable. I will say the food made up for the bad weather which happens in Arizona once a year, maybe. So we give this place 5 stars!
We have been going to Richardsons for a really long time. This particular experience was not what we were accustomed to. We met friends there at our recommendation. The service was not very attentive. The food was good, however we found a long black hair in our leftover to go container. My wife has blonde hair and my hair is grey. This was the topping on the cake for this particular visit.
I've eaten here several times and the food is always great. This time I had the roasted pork mole. Not your usual mole-this mole is green and slightly tart and great with the pork.
Love this place, I just wish I lived closer.
The food is hard to beat. While it can get a bit pricey quick I've never walked away unsatisfied.
This time our service was off. The server seemed to consider my friend and I, both celebrating birthdays, an after thought. We had to flag him down more than once to order something. It's the second time I've been and had the service be about 20-30% off kilter. The other twenty or so times though, efficient. I once ordered an item I'd had at the Rokerij while at Dick's and they did what they could to make it happen. (Tacos turned into a tostada)
Phoenix has an impressive food scene now and the Richardson's spots are all still my go to for a great meal.
No question I will go back again.
Food was okay, but poor service (including both our server forgetting our drinks and failing to tell us about a lot of the menu, as well as timing of dishes coming to the table) brought any good flavor vibes down.
Love Ricardsons, going on 20 years!
My swordfish with chili applesauce was amazing along with the tasty brusselsprouts! I will definitely order fish again from The Roquery!
The best New Mexican food I've ever had (including in New Mexico)
Most excellent New Mexican cuisine outside of Santa Fe! Great drinks, fun atmosphere and delicious spicy food - we come here whenever we are in town.
We were disappointed in our waitress. She did not bring out my wife's salad before the entree as requested. In fact, my wife never did receive her salad even after reminding the waitress that she hadn't received it. Also, my wife asked if a salsa on her salmon could be substituted and the waitress said she would ask. The salmon came out without the substituted salsa. The waitress should have asked my wife if she still wanted to order the salmon since the chef wasn't willing to substitute the salsa. We ran out of water. When the waitress brought our bill, I reminded her that my wife hadn't received her salad. There was no adjustment to our bill. She asked if we wanted the salad boxed to go. Food and ambience were fine, but the customer service was very disappointing. I was embarrassed for our out of town guests.
We have been six times over the last few years. ( From California) Expect noisy, of course, but this is the first time the food was mediocre. Pork chop very tough, chicken rubbery and sauces not as authentic as in past. The color was strange too.
The service by LiZ was pleasant, attentive and she Was the best. All your employees were on top of things. Excellent team.
Richardson's has a vibrancy that gets you excited and relaxes you at the same time. They can be really busy but not over crowded. The food is amazing and of course the service is great.
Great food & ambiance. Good service and we will return.
We had a great time. Our server Samantha was awesome and the Garlic appetizer and the Queso App were both phenomenal !!! Definitely will be back!
Fabulous Southwestern food, service and drinks!
My go-to restaurant for Mexican food when I'm visiting Phoenix.
We brought out-of-town friends to enjoy one of Phoenix's best restaurants and they were impressed! I cannot recommend Richardson's enough. From beef to seafood, the menu is fantastic.
We have dined here many times and generally find it to be excellent New Mexico style Mexican food (hot). It is super if you enjoy spice, but i think that new comers should be told that the dishes are quite spicy. our friends are sensitive and one couldn't eat the dish and didn't want to make a fuss. All could have been avoided with a bit of for-warning.
i loved my food and have found the service to be stellar! If you understand what you are ordering and like a great ambiance, this is definitely your place. The fact that you really need reservations even on a week-night to avoid a lengthy wait should tell you what I mean!!
Wonderful original New Mexican food. Service was great and the atmosphere was inviting and fun. Thank you!
Very enjoyable, great food, love the happy hour menu, great wines, great flan, it was a terrific evening of food.
Food was very good both those items on the daily menu and specials. It is truely New Mexican food at its best. Ambiance was cozy and relaxing.
If you want authentic New Mexican cuisine, you won't find any place better than Richardson's. Recently ate there with two other friends from New Mexico and we all agreed: Richardson's is the best, hands down.
The food was excellent and service was great - we will be back.
