We ended up at Ricard by default and will now make it one of our favorites. All of our meals were delicious . Very innovative and beautifully presented. It is evident the chef and staff really care not your typical tourist town restaurant.
The menu has changed from what is posted on open table. We definitely did not need a reservation.
Good option for eating in the Village. We were with another couple and were looking for a dining option that was a little more upscale than Slice or Sake (both good choices too). Alex, our server was very accommodating and helpful. They have a nice selection of cocktails, beers and wines by the glass. The restaurant was somewhat crowded when we first arrived but emptied out by 8 PM (our res was for 7:30) and we had stopped in earlier in the week while wandering the village to check out the menu and the place was empty. This all seemed odd given its fairly good reviews. The menu is less French and more tied to the chef's background of NOLA/creole. The entree special for the evening was crawfish ettouffee. I tried the gumbo which had good flavor and was adequately spicy but lacked a lot of chunks of the seafood I was hoping for. The beet salad was good. I had the crab Suzanne appy as an entree and that too was good. The veal and crab was a good entree and the mussels & fries was a heaping serving in a good tasting broth. The winner entree was the andouille encrusted grouper - that had fabulous flavor. We opted to forgo coffee/tea and dessert.
I was expecting a french bistro menu so I was quite disappointed by the southern american fare.
Great valentine day dinner and service / food was great. Will be back!
Unfortunately, the server ruined our experience which would otherwise have been pleasant. The food was okay (except for the seafood gumbo) and the atmosphere was nice. However, the server, who was young and full of himself, was inattentive and ignored us to the point of other servers ASKING US if we needed help . No excuse for this as the restaurant was more than half empty. I would not go out of my way to return here for their essentially comfort food menu, unless you are a southern fried chicken devotee (it was well prepared). Also, the wines were very overpriced by the bottle.
Food was ok. The fried chicken was totally average and expensive. Would not order it again. The apps that we ordered were good. We had the warm Brie, wings, and mussels. It was a slow night at Ricard. Not many people. The service was good and the staff was pleasant.
Great atmosphere. Food and drinks were very good. The Barrel Aged Vieux Carre is a must!! Excellent service. Highly recommend, cannot wait to come back!!!
Great restaurant! Staff is amazing. Food is really good.
My wife and I decided to try a new restaurant in Snowmass and we chose Ricard. Outstanding appearance to the restaurant with excellent service. Entrees very good. I hade steak that was cooked to my request. Presentation was good. Would recommend.
I love this place at the base of Snowmass. I eat there every time I visit for a ski trip. The atmosphere is very inviting and the food is fantastic - great drinks too. I highly recommend. The Grouper was amazing!
Liked the interior. They forgot to acknowledge the birthday in our group. Some of the items that we ordered (dirty rice and creme brulee) were a bit odd. Chicken and waffles were really good.
The food was very good except for the chicken salad sandwich that had a weird taste. The mussel were excellent and different. The service is a bit slow but the food makes up for it. Would dine there again.
My family and I had New Year's dinner at Ricard and it was really perfect. When I booked a 6:15pm reso on NYE, I assumed we were going to have just a regular menu dinner, but we showed up to tables dressed with party hats and horns, free champagne and a beautifully edited Prix Fixe. The staff was so happy and festive. It really turned out to be a magical night. Thank you Ricard!!
We made reservations and requested a booth. This is the third time they just disregard the request. We remind them each time. Service at hostess is lacking. The noise level was high due to a loud group. Not typical. They have the best mixed drinks in snowmass. I enjoyed the grouper fish and beet salad. Basic kids menu and crayons.
I ordered the chicken and dumplings. Rather than tell me that they ran out of dumplings, they brought my meal with a single small dumpling. While they did offer to get me a new meal or a different side dish, I was disappointed that I was not notified ahead of time.
This French style bistro looks awesome. The service was friendly and quick. The food was delicious!
The food took an hour and a half to come. They gave away our table even though we arrived on time. We had to wait twenty minutes for the table, another thirty minutes for drinks and another hour for the food . Our water cups were cracked and could not hold water.
The server apologized many times however nothing improved.
The food was terrible.
We live locally and are disappointed that the Viceroy cares so little about their restaurant quality. Their management should do something about it.
They comped our appetizers in an effort to placate us. We appreciated that gesture.
Great food, service, menu is diverse.
The service was absolutely amazing, and the food was excellent!
Great food great service
I am not sure why, but the food was not as expected. It seemd to be reheated, but I do not know enough about food to tell you what it was missing. I tasted all four plates (duck, braised rib, southern fried chicken, mussels), I think mussels were the best.
Literally the worst service in Snowmass. Server had no clue and would disappear constantly. When we asked a different server if we could order a bottle of wine she told us she wasn't our server and she said she would find him. This isn't the first time we've had horrible service here, but gave it another chance since we only come one week a year. I guess that's why the service is so awful because they don't care about repeat customers. New people are always coming in.
We had heard nice things about Ricard and were looking forward to our dining experience.
While the service was very good and relaxed and friendly our dinners were not good.
My wife had the brisket, which was very chewy and tough and as a result left most of it.
A guest of ours and myself had the roasted duck, which was so tough that we couldn't use a dinner knife to cut the leg from the breast. We left most of our meals as a result.
Perhaps we were unfortunate enough to experience an off night for the restaurant but the food was so disappointing that I doubt we will come back.
I took my girlfriend here after Apres Ski and we had a blast! We really enjoyed the mussels and creole food! If I lived in the area, I eould totally be a regular because there was so much more of the menu I wanted to explore!
Excellent dinner! Great oysters and calamari!
Enjoyed the food, ambience lacking. Lovely looking interiors.
Great food. This place has a new Southern style to the menu, with an awesom BBQ shrimp. My friend has the ribs 3x in a week. I got both the Shrimp and Brisket Po Boy's, I liked the brisket better. They smoke their own ribs and brisket outside. Follow the smell to this great spot for lunch. Well worth the wait for a sunny, outdoor, apres spot.
Ordered BBQ ribs and crawfish etouffee . Ribs were burnt. Etouffee was bland. Corn bread lacked corn. Beignets were awful. Beer and wine selection was pretty good.
Below average. Now Cajun not French. Avoid the special crawfish over pasta dish. It's poor with a high price point for a lousy pasta dish. Smoked meats are ok.
not what other reviews said. server good but food very poor
Ricard has a beautiful eclectic French interior design. There were 5 choices in mussels. We ordered the green curry and thoroughly enjoyed dipping the char grilled French bread into the delicious broth.
My main meal was ok & my husband didn't care for the brisket. There we also some servor mistakes such as bringing me the wrong food for my main dish. I'd still return for the mussels , their farm fresh house salad and the great selection of French wines.
Chic, fun spot. Seafood tasted a bit off, otherwise good food.
Only real negative is we went at the end of the season, and wine selections were limited, as was staff. Our waiter was very nice, but too busy to give us much attention.
Wonderful French mountain ambiance! Excellent service! We actually went there two nights in a row - great food for the kids and adults feel like there in a nice restaurant.
While in Snowmass, Ricards is worth a stop. The food was wonderful and the staff quite helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the scallops with brie whipped potatoes and crispy chicken. Definitely one of the best restaurants we visited in Snowmass and kid-friendly too.
Excellent causal French dining at Snowmass. Very accommodating with food restrictions.
all of our food tasted like it had been cooked hours before and just heated up before being served to us. The duck, all the vegetables, even the French fries - none of it tasted fresh. Very disappointing especially since it was $$.
We have an expectation of French cuisine, Ricard fell a bit short. Broiled oysters were warm to cold. Offerings at lunch were tasteful but left us wanting. Risotto was the highlight. Having eaten there last year with an exceptional experience, the change in chef might be the reason for this one. Maybe dinner menu would have been better.
Normally, I do not write negative reviews but Rickard's just had too much going wrong.
The seating was thoughtless because we were seated next to the only occupied table in the restaurant. After waiting about 5 minutes we had to hail the server like a taxi cab. The Maitre de came over and arrogantly stated that "He was there to serve." Eventually, our waiter arrived with an air of "What's up Doc?" We ordered the Italian mussels and a bottle of wine. While waiting for the wine, we were fortunate to experience the arrival and conversations of 6 more loud family members of the table next to us. I even had to slide down the banquet to make room for a 9 year old. When the wine came, it was the wrong year. We pointed this out to the waiter. He checked with someone and the answer was the that the menu was wrong and all they had was the 2013 not the 2012. Rather than ask if they looked for a 2012, we accepted the 2013. The mussels were tremendous and so was the rich broth but there was only 4 slices of bread in order to enjoy the bowl of broth. A couple of spoons and more bread would have helped. Plus, we had to ask for a bowl for the mussel shells. Next up was the main course. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and Brussels sprouts plate. The chicken was steaming hot and tasty. The mashed potatoes and gravy were cold. The Brussel spouts were very dark, unrecognizable, and sitting in a miniature cast iron kettle but were caramelized and tasted good. My friend had stated that the branzino entrée was delicious.
Overall, I had the feeling that serving us was an inconvenience to the restaurant.
