Beautiful water front restaurant with incredible views of Ventura Harbor and the most stunning sunsets anywhere in Southern California. Fresh seafood from the fishing boats to our kitchens and moderately priced for our customers.

We went to celebrate a friend’s birthdayThe quesadillas for lunch were good and the tiramisu was a special treat for dessert.
Probably won’t go back. Food was ok. I had planned a 50th Wedding Anniversary dinner for my parents & the restaurant forgot. They said the lady (Chloe) who took my reservation (whom I had a nice conversation with) was not that great at replying messages! To which I wanted to ask, then why is she on your team & what are you going to do about it? It was frustrating & embarrassing for me. Our family planned this & came all the way from Texas... just annoying because there are so many choices that we could have picked from other than here. They tried to make it right which I appreciate but it wasn’t the same ya know.. ?!
Perfect dinner to celebrate Father’s Day. Gorgeous setting and great food.
Fantastic food, service, and ambiance. Have been back 3 times. Have taken friends and family! Love it love it love it!!!
Wait staff tried but seemed understaffed so service was slow. We order multiple course but everything came at once which overflowed the table. Food was pretty good but not what is should be for such a nice setting next to the harbor.
Not sure what has changed, but the food has gone downhill. This is the second time we have been disappointed in the food. Plus the service was extremely slow. I do hope they do something to turn it around, because it is a wonderful location and is the perfect setting for sunsets.
Great! They brought my 13 year old a special desert!
Guests are warmly greeted upon arrival. Reservation times and requests are honored. The Rhumb Line is a pretty, welcoming place with big windows that allow customers a view of the harbor and let in natural light. It’s a very Southern Californian atmosphere.
we arrived at our 5:30 reservation time and did not get our meal until 7:00. The lady walking around said, in a snarky voice, we will be served when the food is ready!!!!! Duh!!!
Very disappointed in the overall service. Wife ordered chocolate ice cream and got vanilla!!
Guess they could not tell the difference. 2 hours for dinner???
Food was good. Great views of harbor. Efficient and friendly servers.
The Lobster Mac and Cheese is surprisingly one of the best things on the menu. The salad accompanying the lackluster but competent crab cakes was truly the star of the appetizers. The sides we got were not good in any way: undercooked brussel sprouts and a disturbing fried fiber log are on the top of the AVOID list although all of the fish and sauces were well prepared.
I sat in the patio with my dog. The harbor view was great! I saw a sting ray swim by. I had Chicken and Waffles; great chicken but possibly the best waffle I have ever had! My waiter Alfredo went above and beyond...friendly, plus brought treats to my dog!
We had another great meal and our server was outstanding.
This is a great restaurant; food is delicious, staff is attentive, decor is comfortable and attractive, and the setting in the harbor is lovely. The sole downsides are the noise levels due to the hard surfaces (floors and ceiling), and the price point is a bit steep for the neighborhood, but there is value when considering the quality of the food. I/ we really like this restaurant in it’s current iteration and wish the restaurant well....we will be back.
Service was not good. We had to wait way to long for our drinks. Salads and soups were not timed correct as they came out together.
We always come to Rhumbline for our special occasions like anniversaries and valentine's day or if we're celebrating something else special. Never been disappointed and the wedge salad is to die for!
Was very nice view and the service was fast for 7 people
As my ratings reflect, our experience was middle of the road - not bad, but definitely not excellent. My Manhattan was very poor; I almost didn't drink it. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was very good - probably the best item we had. The clam chowder was good, but as with other items, not noteworthy. Best description for the sand dabs is that they were okay, but greasy and mushy - not the flaky texture that was expected. The orange roughy was also okay - I liked the caper sauce, but like the sand dabs the fish did not have the expected texture. We opted to not stay for dessert. Our server was young, new and just not yet there - an A for effort, but poor knowledge of the menu and not polished at other elements. We ate outdoors on the deck - the ambiance there was good, and the view of the marina also pleasing.
For Mother's Day, the Brunch couldn't have been nicer. We live close so we were able to walk and not even have to worry about parking. We enjoyed the patio along with the view while there and it was very enjoyable. The assortment of items offered was very adequate, prime rib was delicious, all in all, a delightful meal!
The food and atmosphere was exceptional, but it was difficult to get service. Had to wait 15 minutes after being seated just to get menus! This part of the experience did not improve throughout the meal.
Saturday brunch (pre-Mother's Day) was quiet. Ambience and service excellent. Food fine but I recommend adding some Hollandaise sauce to their otherwise dry omelettes (they brought me some). Generous portions.
Great place, wonderful people, good food, amazing view. A secluded spot, only locals might know about. Moderately priced, will definitely return.
We requested a water view , the reservation was for 2. that would imply a water view for two not one. We got a tiny table where one person would sit facing the bar( very noisy but it was happy hour . the other sat on a chair facing the water. We requested a change of table and it was received as though we were a bother, although at this time there were few people eating dinner (5:30) . Shown another tiny table not near the bar but the same view but of the side of the restaurant. One of the 3 hostess while we were being escorted to the 2nd table said we could always sit on the couch. Didn't understand what she meant at the time but my husband said later he was ready to walk out right then. We decided to not try for a suitable table. The sand dabs were ok . only one kind of pinot grigio. Needless to say ,we have been going to this establishment for may years under different names, but this was our last time.
Our first time at Rhumb Line. We all appreciated the friendly service, the harbor views and the excellent food!
For a seafood restaurant that's located on a water's edge in the harbor the absence of fresh seafood is appalling. Dishes lack creativity and imagination and are overpriced. Local Californian wines are not well represented on the wine list.
Good food and wonderful view of Ventura Harbor. It's a bit pricey and can be too noisy. It's only open after three pm.
Heather (server) was great. the place had an OK view of the marina. Did not get the sunset view I requested. Food was so so. Miso fish was saucy... Lobster with shrimp was not the best. Overall, OK.
Rhumb Line is our special beach front restaurant . We are regulars and enjoy every day HH and our special occasions. Love the staff!!!!
Food was good
Service was terrible
Noisy very noisy restaurant
A disappointing experience for my husband birthday
Wait staff was superb, attentive, and gracious. We choose outdoor dining, cause we had our dogs, and they brought a water dish right away. The outdoor area was shielded from the wind and they had propane heaters when it got chilly. The view was the harbor, but didn't have the harbor feel as the ocean view was blocked by walls, buildings, and the marina.
Food was excellent and delicious, with beautiful presentation, however, the portions were very small for the price, except the pork chop, which was massive.
I might return, but maybe only for happy hour where the food is priced more fairly.
Appetizers were great, we got garlic fries and the Mediterranean sampler. Both were awesome! The steak ($42 ribeye) was terrible. Pop the steak out of the package, grill on a high heat gas grill, and serve. Very disappointed in the steak. Service was alright, sat outside, maybe less attended to because of it.
This is our favorite restaurant in Ventura. Great wait staff and bartender. The food is simply outstanding. The wine list is superb with the best of the California plus foreign brands available.
I went there on a recommendation and I was not disappointed. From the hostess who was awesome, our server and management, all wanted to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Also based on a recommendation was the chicken and waffles. Amazing! I will definitely go back.
Gorgeous Harbor views, superb food, good bartending, and friendly service with attentive management. I have been quite a few times and have enjoyed all the items I have ordered. The Happy Hour offers great tacos (different kinds), delicious calamari, and tasty ribs (and I'm not normally a rib guy) - plus a nice selection of cocktails. Very reasonable prices - on a warm day, sit out on the patio - it's lovely! Dinner menu that I and my friends have had has all been superb as well: a very nice Mediterranean Sampler Platter (not too garlicky!), Generous portion of Sand Dabs, Perfectly rare yet seared Filet Mignon (as we requested), Large Lobster Tail and yummy deserts (I like the lemon cake). I shall certainly continue to come here and bring friends!
the food is very good and the service is good! It was a nice view while my family and I were eating lunch. Thank you for the extra soup! we like the soup and many other dishes!
This is one of the best restaurants in Ventura. Right on the marina, the ambiance is perfect. Fantastic food and excellent service. Busy bar but you shouldn't have an issue getting a stool or sitting at the tables nearby. The servers, hosts and General Manager, Orestis, are all impeccable and care a lot about your enjoyment. The waiter was very attentive, the bus boys promptly removed empty dishes, asked if you like more bread and refilled your water and Orestis, stopped by our table several times to make sure we were completely satisfied.
Ok experience. There for happy hour, and the service in the high top seating area was slow. Our server was friendly but we rarely saw him. Satay appetizer was adequate, and salads were fine. Prices are pretty high but maybe that’s just par for the course. Margarita was a very glowy green for a drink that supposedly only has tequila, lime juice, and agave in it.
Happy hour is not worth it! Chips and guacamole were obviously not made fresh, we ordered the ahi tacos and they had no flavor at all, cocktails were over sweetened. When the menu switched from Happy Hour to Dinner there was no notice in the change of pricing. Our margaritas were full price and ended up being over half our bill. Overall, very disappointing because my brunch experience has always been exceptional.
Great views of harbor
Easter brunch was great. We had reservations and arrived early. We were seated a few mins. early. Service was great. Attentive wait staff and management. Food was delicious. We’ll be Val for Mother’s Day brunch with my mom and brother for sure!
