We’re expecting a much better meal out of chefs restaurant. Sunday prix fixe meal was disorganized...meat was over cooked...too much reliance on forager resulting in stringy, almost inedible greens. Long time subscriber to Open Table...this was probably the worst meal I’ve had at one of the OT restaurants. However, the street busker close to our table played a pretty mean riff on his banjo!!!
The chef needs to get back to his old roots and exert some quality control of dishes coming out of his kitchen.
Great place with wonderful, locally sourced ingredients combined in some really great ways to make some really good American dishes with their own unique twists. Definitely will be back.
Salad, bread, pork loin all were excellent! Good wine recommendation and great service.
Small amount of food for great price
Love this restaurant! We have never been disappointed, and always look forward to eating there. The food is simply delicious, farm to table and fresh!
Overall, a fantastic meal at rhubarb! Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Ordered almost every appetizer and the pimiento pups for the table to split. Favorite was the burrata - absolutely delicious. Love that the menu changes daily and they have a great selection of cocktails. Central to all things downtown Asheville. Highly recommend!
Exceptional food, great service, overall stellar experience!
Rhubarb was tasty and enjoyable overall. We had some issues regarding food coming out late, burgers missing cheese that was requested, and a waitress that would go MIA for a bit longer than she should. They just need to work on stronger service, but the food was yummy.
Rhubarb helped made my birthday an excellent day. The server surprised me with a dessert on the house. Everything I ate, I’d eat again!
The menu is worded in way that makes you feel as if you are in for a treat. However, it is not. We started with the preserved plate/pickled veg plate which was good but only to be let down by the burrata. It may be house made but it was not salted properly; overall flavorless. We then tried the pork meatballs. Again, bland. The grits had no seasoning and garlic confit was non existent. With the meatballs we ordered the mushroom cassoulet. It was mediocre at best. It lacked depth of flavors in all areas. The server was great and the ambiance wasn’t bad but overall the food was less than average for the price and what the prior reviews described. It seems as if the head chef has other endeavors in the Asheville restaurant scene and Rhubarb has fallen to the wayside.
Sorry that I didn’t check the menu before booking. I have a pepper intolerance so that my selections were very limited and even the dish that was suggested as not spicy was too spicy for me.
The rum list is epic. Lovely ambiance outdoor dining. The menu is abbreviated. The food is 4 stars but the service and liquor menu are 10 stars.
Great food, great service, great location. Even with a large party next to us, we were able to carry a quiet conversation and enjoy our meal together. Service was impeccable.
Delicious and fresh! Lovely combination of local ingredients and flavors. Highly recommend if in the area. One of our favorite meals of our trip!
Rhubarb is one of our favorite restaurants in Asheville, and it never fails to be outstanding. Everything we ordered was simply delicious!!
I was expecting a brunch menu as brunch was advertised at 10:30. It was instead a regular menu with very limited brunch options.
Birthday for my wife
Great service. Was seated next to open kitchen, which we really enjoyed. Food needed more seasoning. Loved the fried hominy!
Kind staff, great patio seating and lots of menu choices. Food was fresh and with a focus on local producers and ingredients.
Very nicely done meal in a great setting right on Pack Square. We had participated in a "foraging" program earlier in the day and brought some of our gatherings which the chef turned into a fabulous first course for us. Service by Eric was first class. Honorable mention to the bartender, a very knowledgable guy who gave us a great description the fine points of gin and vermouth, and mixed a pretty good martini to prove his point!
Great time, great place. Check it out.
I had the trout which was delicious. No need to filet, the whole Gish is manageable. My partner had oven roasted chicken, which may have left the oven too soon. Service was great. Hope you have the bonus beer.
My wife and I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but this time around will probably be our last. It's a shame because it's a nice place with great atmosphere inside and outside. We ordered our favorite, the whole trout, which has been good in years past, but this time it came out stuffed with some type of pickled spaghetti squash (why would you do that to a trout?). The fish itself was undercooked and it certainly wasn't very fresh, a no-no for serving a whole fish. We also got the pork shoulder, which was fair, but I've had much more tasty, tender pork at our church pig-picking. The wine list is OK. So it was a pleasant spring evening and sitting outside to watch Asheville night life was a treat, but the main reason we go out to eat is to .... eat. So we can't recommend Rhubarb any more for foodies.
Good was amazingly delicious!! Service was okay. It was a bit noisy, but able to have conversations. The only thing I didn’t like was sitting near the open kitchen area the smoke from the wood fired ovens was a bit bothersome.
Unique delicious organic food in the heart of Asheville. Definitely worth a visit!
We had reservations and were seated quickly. Definitely would recommend reservations. Server knew the menu well and was helpful in making drink reservations. The food was inventive and tasty and arranged in a beautiful way on the plate. The setting was fun and the restaurant is located in a fun area of downtown and you can eat indoors or out.
I had an amazing experience dining at Rhubarb. I was traveling solo and they asked if I would like to sit at the Chef's table. The chef's described the menu, gave me lots of details on prep and presentation , they were awesome! The food is fantastic and memorable. It was also great to meet the young couple next to me, it is a very inviting space and atmosphere. Would love to go back! Highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was very tasty. The farm to table with local items was the main reason we chose this restaurant. Great decor and our server was attentive and very sweet. The prices are about in line with other similar types of restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Would recommend trying them.
Three of use ate there on a Thursday night before a concert across the street. Food was delicious and service excellent. Portions were a little light for the money. I do recommend the place. Just depends on what you are expecting. I had pork loin. Others had trout and grouper plus salad and fritters for appetizer. All yummy. Drinks also very good from the bar. Nice evening.
The food was excellent. I had grouper and my date had the half chicken, which was very bountiful. The only negative was street noise from motorcycles and trucks
Food was disappointing. I expected to be blown away by the food and it was mediocre. I sat outside and there were leaves everywhere and when I was seated some dirt and leaves had blown onto my table plate and cup that was outside and the hostess Norm waitress cleaned it off. I had to blow the dirt out of my cup so she wouldn’t pour the water into a dirty cup. I just feel for that price, more should have been done and the food should have been a little more impressive
A treat! Lived up to all our expectations and more..... the fresh ingredients, thoughtfully put together and beautifully presented. All greatly appreciated!!
we loved everything. shockingly great prices for a very good brunch. great service, adorable atmosphere. loved the rhubarb and baked ricotta and want it to be on a burger! thank you
Service was great and the setting is beautiful at night. Food was good but underwhelming. I guess we expected more based on reviews from others for the restaurant. Ambiance was also lacking but that was mostly due to the obnoxiously drunk couple that was seated next to us.
Wonderful, from start to finish
Best meal I've had in a long time. The Grouper and Pork Tenderloin were out of this world. The House Cure and Burrata were perfection. Service and vibe were spot on. Will be back!
Really first rate food, imaginatively prepared in a great setting. Service was first rate. Our first time there and would wholeheartedly recommend it. Try for a table in the room with open kitchen. Perhaps a bit noisy, but what isn’t these days.
Lindsey our server was a absolute delight. She was very attentive, paced our meal and gave us great menu recommendations. The team work for clearing plates, water refills and the overall experience of making sure our every need was met is beyond exceptional. This is how you run a restaurant.
Delicious food all around. Lots of delightful small plates. Ribs, burrata, sweet peas were all delicious. Attentive service and cool space. Overall great experience.
Grea food, wonderful service and good drinks! My husband got the Half Chicken and I got two small plates and it was plenty of food!
