Excellent creative dishes.
Moving. Delightful. Genuine. Maybe it was the homeless people camped right outside, or the seemingly historic years of plaster on the walls - but the place seems special from the moment you walk in. Almost unplanned. You can tell walls had to be broken down to accommodate the ambition. Spaces combined to give everyone a chance to dine here. And I appreciate that. I like the different levels of floors and going through the different areas that years ago were probably designated for some other venture. But now it all housed and accommodated this place. My sons and I had the fortune of being seated where we could watch the wood fired oven and the cooks carefully attending to their work. It was great to watch.
We ordered the pork dishes (meatballs & belly) and the bread to start. You forget sometimes the role music plays in a dining experience - but eating the food, the flavors echoing inside my mouth, and the lingering simplicity of the butter and bread on my tongue - all while listening to "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is" by Irma Thomas - literally transported me to a place I really needed to be at that night. Maybe it was the nostalgic sound of the song, or the obvious freshness of the meal - but I immediately felt calmer, clearer.
Overall - was blown away. Truly a unique experience and if you don't eat here while in town, it's truly your loss. Like passing your soul mate on a street kind of loss. So pay attention, open your eyes. Eat this food. Drink their drinks. Experience the knowledge and wisdom of good, strong people.
The service and the food was impeccable! The server helped us navigate the menu. She was very knowledgeable and personable. The food was cooked to perfection with a mix of complex and subtle flavors. Our palates were wowed in different ways with our drinks and every dish we ordered.
Appetizers were ok but not great (fried hominy and fried almonds were odd), my pork loin was fabulous but my wife’s cassoulet was hard to eat as the kale was not chopped and the flageolets were fried. Our friends half chicken looked great. Our server, Jessica, was attentive after engaging.
Food was excellent, service was outstanding. Waiter anticipated everything.
Food was disappointing. Very good service saved the experience...
Best fall-themed French Toast ever! Enjoyed a nice, quiet meal off peak hours with excellent service. 11/10 recommend.
I treating change of pace- friendly staff and patrons!
Very few menu choices. Poor service, for example, asked several times if we'd chosen our wine yet when we'd already told our server we were waiting on friends. Then later, when one of us wanted a second beer, we were told she was having problems finding someone to get the beer for us. Biscuits were too salty and chalky. I expected far more.
We loved it! Our brunch was delicious, our server was great and our overall experience was excellent.
Incredible!! Highly recommend!! The Apple Jacks french toast was so yummy!
We were not enthralled. The ingredients are all excellent, and the quality is great, but the cuisine was rather uninspired, in our opinion. Nothing interesting, and what we ordered was well prepared, but nothing that truly jumped out at us.
Over salted main meal. A bit noisy. Service was excellent, kind and chef and wait staff understanding of dood allergies.
Another excellent meal here! The food and the service are top notch and the innovation and attention to detail are exquisite. Such a Great Neck's of fine dining elements in a casual relaxed unpretentious restaurant.
Wonderful meal. The tapas were delicious. Our service was superb.
Rhubarb was recommended by a friend, and she was right. It was a great place to eat while we were visiting Asheville. Our waitress Brandy was very nice, and the food was delicious. The Burrata appetizer and the lamb ribs were delicious. We will return if we're back in the area again.
What a great way to enjoy a first night in Asheville. Really enjoyed the food and wine. Nothing disappoints and it’s a great location.
Everything on the menu is so creative and complex, I couldn’t choose! We ordered 8 different shareable plates and every single bite of everything was an explosion of flavor and perfection! The chef Derek is a genius with food. It is a farm to table restaurant with an ever changing menu which is awesome! The staff is very friendly and attentive. I can’t recommend this enough!
Love this place!! Will be back!
My wife and I eat (mostly) vegetarian and found enough very well thought out options to keep us satisfied and happy...not feeling like the poor-relations who drop in unexpectedly. Pickled vegetables and desserts are especially good, the latter are not cloyingly sweet. We were especially impressed with the parsnip in one of our desserts and fig in the other.
Very good dinner after a stressful day. Trout was excellent and accompanyments were excellent. Recommend the pimento pops.
Nice, eclectic menu. Fresh flavors. Bar was relaxing. Highly recommend for diners who like farm to table fare.
Good was delicious — and a great value for exceptionally prepared dishes. We would definitely go back next time we are in Asheville! Highly recommend
The food at Rhubarb is delicious. Everything from the barbecue lamb ribs, to the shrimp and grits with a twist, to the baked chicken. We haven't had a bad meal there yet.
Waitress had ok understanding of menu items, but not great.
The flavors of the food are incredible! Service was excellent. The specialty drinks were unique. We really enjoyed it all.
My husband and I were in AShville for our 20 year anniversary and Rhubarb was perfect. All of the food was fantastic. The butter with the bread basket was totally worth trying. Our entrees and soup were amazing!
A massive homeless community is permanently camped out in front of this place. Constant cigarette smoking and loud crude conversation can be overheard. Also unwelcome interaction with street people.
As it always is the food and service ant Rhubarb is incredible. We did the "special" dinner of the night and each step was served perfectly and tasted wonderful. This menu changes daily and is worth as stop.
Lovely spot! Pear infused mule is a must! It was a wonderful cozy dining experience on a chilly day!! Highly recommended.
Came highly recommended via Hotel and Food and Wine. We had the meatball appetizers which was good when mixed with hominy but not flavorful, main course was the pork which was also good over the black eyed peas though honestly it was something I could have made myself. Desert was the chocolate brownie batter which was the best thing by far. Our waiter was spot on. Overall average
Was a great experience. Glad to have chosen Rhubarb as my first meal in Asheville.
Fun vibe and great food! Highly recommend.
Drinks were inventive and delicious! Food was scrumptious, and waitress was on task and took care of us! Rhubarb never disappoints! My favorite restaurant in Asheville!
The food was excellent, but the service was a little slow
Wonderful meal at this great restaurant!
Everything was fantastic! Food and service were both five star.
I had a great cozy date night at Rhubarb last night! Our server, Carrie, was fabulous! The energy of the restaurant was so fun (on a Saturday night) and customers were coming and going while we were there. The food and drinks were fantastic!
