Overpriced farm to table. Chicken not cooked. There are much better restaurants in Asheville.
Heather S was an amazing server! We had some special dietary needs in our party and she couldn’t have been any more accommodating. Food was top notch. Service was stellar
We enjoyed sitting at the back bar. The service was great!
Great food and great service. A place that is based in hospitality
Rhubarb is our favorite Asheville restaurant! We always eat here when in town. The atmosphere is cozy, food always creative and delicious. Great wine list and fantastic service.
Second visit for us on road trip to/from KY. First time was better as the cuisine was very good, but not excellent as our first visit. Our pork belly with accompaniments was 10/10, our lamb chops were 8/10, while the grilled chicories were lacking and a bit chewey.
We will return again to Rhubarb expecting excellence as on our first visit. Beverages -- stellar beer list, somewhat obscure wine list with mixed offerings.
Our food was cold and had to be sent back. The initial appetizers were delicious but the main courses were cold. We had a shrimp appetizer with our main course and that was cold too. The waiter said it was supposed to be cold. If that was the case, it would be better warm. Our waitress was great. She provided a delicious dessert for the table because our food was cold.
I will not be back and will not be recommending this restaurant to my friends.
The overall experience at Rhubarb for four of us dining on Saturday evening, November 30, was fair at best. Service was extremely slow. The food portions of our entrees were small relative to the cost. Our friend's fish was dry. The food was also not properly heated. I was very disappointed since the general reviews I had read were very favorable. I hope it was just a bad night but I know that I will not dine there again.
Excellent good and great service - we really enjoyed and highly recommend!
We took friends visiting us from NYC to Asheville, NC.
I was able to get us an early dinner the day after Thanksgiving! We had a scrumptious dinner and wine! Heather our server was patient with us as we wanted a family style dinner. She gave us great suggestions. We were all appreciative of the experience from the hostess, kitchen staff and Heather!! A must try!!
Incredible service, food, and ambiance!
Recommend by a friend. It lived up to their recommendation.
Really disappointed in Rhubarb! It was expensive and the food was barely mediocre. The pork loin I ordered was so overcooked it was uncuttable and dry. The barbecue chicken was dry as well. Seemed as if it had been cooked several days ago.
The seasonings are almost overbearing. As a cook myself, I think it is trying to be too complicated.
We had a great time!!!! Food was delicious! Wonderful experience😍
A spider crawled out of our salad, then we were charged for it (after reporting it to our waitress). Unbelievable.
Amazing, creative, tasty creations, at a reasonable price
Great atmosphere. Food was ok. Was disappointed when told my young daughter couldn’t have a side of mashed potatoes that was on the family/table special but not on the regular menu. Seemed like a small request.
The food here is inventive and absolutely delicious! We had 2 appetizers, 1 main, and two sides and really enjoyed everything. If you go to Asheville, you have to have dinner here.
Best food we have had in Asheville!!
Delicious food and quaint setting. Go out on a limb and try something different. Everything on their farm to table menu is worth trying!
Food was very good. Our server was polite and attentive and explained the menu very clearly. Bread was too die for! Seating was a little tight which made the noise level a bit excess in the front glass alcove - too impersonal. But overall would definitely recommend for the food.
We got a fish dish that we had not heard of before, Wrekfish. We split the portion and our portions where about the size of 1/2 of a boiled egg so a whole portion would have been as large as a hard boiled egg with a few saute greens underneith. This for $30.00. I do love Rhubarb and will go back but we did get a little ripped off for this meal. Our friends split a whole trout and it was plenty of food for them. We love the hushpuppy's and salads are great.
Excellent creative dishes.
Moving. Delightful. Genuine. Maybe it was the homeless people camped right outside, or the seemingly historic years of plaster on the walls - but the place seems special from the moment you walk in. Almost unplanned. You can tell walls had to be broken down to accommodate the ambition. Spaces combined to give everyone a chance to dine here. And I appreciate that. I like the different levels of floors and going through the different areas that years ago were probably designated for some other venture. But now it all housed and accommodated this place. My sons and I had the fortune of being seated where we could watch the wood fired oven and the cooks carefully attending to their work. It was great to watch.
We ordered the pork dishes (meatballs & belly) and the bread to start. You forget sometimes the role music plays in a dining experience - but eating the food, the flavors echoing inside my mouth, and the lingering simplicity of the butter and bread on my tongue - all while listening to "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is" by Irma Thomas - literally transported me to a place I really needed to be at that night. Maybe it was the nostalgic sound of the song, or the obvious freshness of the meal - but I immediately felt calmer, clearer.
Overall - was blown away. Truly a unique experience and if you don't eat here while in town, it's truly your loss. Like passing your soul mate on a street kind of loss. So pay attention, open your eyes. Eat this food. Drink their drinks. Experience the knowledge and wisdom of good, strong people.
The service and the food was impeccable! The server helped us navigate the menu. She was very knowledgeable and personable. The food was cooked to perfection with a mix of complex and subtle flavors. Our palates were wowed in different ways with our drinks and every dish we ordered.
Appetizers were ok but not great (fried hominy and fried almonds were odd), my pork loin was fabulous but my wife’s cassoulet was hard to eat as the kale was not chopped and the flageolets were fried. Our friends half chicken looked great. Our server, Jessica, was attentive after engaging.
Food was excellent, service was outstanding. Waiter anticipated everything.
Food was disappointing. Very good service saved the experience...
Best fall-themed French Toast ever! Enjoyed a nice, quiet meal off peak hours with excellent service. 11/10 recommend.
I treating change of pace- friendly staff and patrons!
Very few menu choices. Poor service, for example, asked several times if we'd chosen our wine yet when we'd already told our server we were waiting on friends. Then later, when one of us wanted a second beer, we were told she was having problems finding someone to get the beer for us. Biscuits were too salty and chalky. I expected far more.
We loved it! Our brunch was delicious, our server was great and our overall experience was excellent.
Incredible!! Highly recommend!! The Apple Jacks french toast was so yummy!
We were not enthralled. The ingredients are all excellent, and the quality is great, but the cuisine was rather uninspired, in our opinion. Nothing interesting, and what we ordered was well prepared, but nothing that truly jumped out at us.
Over salted main meal. A bit noisy. Service was excellent, kind and chef and wait staff understanding of dood allergies.
Another excellent meal here! The food and the service are top notch and the innovation and attention to detail are exquisite. Such a Great Neck's of fine dining elements in a casual relaxed unpretentious restaurant.
Wonderful meal. The tapas were delicious. Our service was superb.
Rhubarb was recommended by a friend, and she was right. It was a great place to eat while we were visiting Asheville. Our waitress Brandy was very nice, and the food was delicious. The Burrata appetizer and the lamb ribs were delicious. We will return if we're back in the area again.
What a great way to enjoy a first night in Asheville. Really enjoyed the food and wine. Nothing disappoints and it’s a great location.
