Rhubarb serves seasonal, regional American fare, sourced from nearby farms and dairies. Acclaimed chef John Fleer, formerly of Blackberry Farm, and his team craft a daily-changing menu including wood-fired dishes, plates made for sharing, house-baked breads, and other rustic creations. A thoughtful wine list showcasing natural and biodynamic wines and a full bar round out the offerings. Rhubarb asks that parties of 6 or more please contact the restaurant directly. We are closed every Tuesday.

The appetizers were just ok. We had shrimp and the oysters. Both were uninspired. Plus it was slow to get them.

The mains - trout and grouper were very good but it took a long time between appetizer and main.

As a ‘sort of compensation for the slowness’ we got a dish of green beans which were very good but really didn’t make up for the lack of service.

This restaurant has a couple of policies that make it less than a perfect experience. They charge a penalty for any cancellation on a reservation of 6 or more within 24 hours, although they did waive this for us as two people in our party had an emergency. They also have a policy of not splitting checks which seems unreasonable in a place like Asheville. No other restaurant I am aware of has this policy. Also, my poached egg was so over cooked it was completely hard. Our waitress seemed a little testy, so not the best experience all round.

The food was OK but not memorable. Service was adequate but our server had no personality. We sat inside and the room was very smokey from the kitchen fire. Our clothing smelled of smoke when we got home. We would not return.

Wait staff excellent. Restaurant smoky from the grill. We left smelling like a campfire. Oyster Benton was bland. Royal Red shrimp were too salty to eat—literally inedible. Restaurant took shrimp off the bill, although we did not ask them to. That was considerate. Almost every dish on the menu seemed to be cooked with collards, kale or other cooked greens that I dislike. I like southern food and I am an adventurous eater, but Rhubarb gave me no reason to return. Sorry.

We made the reservation based on their menu online. Unfortunately, the online menu isn't kept up to date. We were told at the restaurant their menu changes often, so u need to call for an update menu. It would be nice to list the items that are always available and state additional items added daily.The food was tasty, but the serving size was on the small side lessening the value of the meal. The lamb ribs were delicious as was the baked 1/2 chicken.There is a charge for bread! No qualms with the taste of the food.

We went for dinner and were seated promptly with a reservation. They have no parking, therefore you have to find a spot on the street or parking in a deck.
We had a very nice waiter, Luke. We started with a 3 cheese plate that came with bread, jam, pickles the others were bland. We then shared a salad which they charge $14 for; it was good, but kind of dry as the dressing was sparse. The waiter said the Roasted Trout was large so we shared it, but I felt it was over-cooked, my husband was ok with it. For dessert, we had the Ultimate Brownie Bash; it was plenty of chocolate, but the brownie ice cream in it was the only good part so I would not recommend it. I was unimpressed by their food and not worth the $90 for the meal before gratuity.

Waiter wasn’t attentive at all. Had to ask if she went home for the night. Ordered mussels as an appetizer and was shocked that there were only 5 mussels. Three of the mussels weren’t open. Never come back to many other quality restaurants in town with great service

First visit to Asheville and wanted a special local food scene to match the quality food reputation of the city. Even told our waiter we were here to enjoy the evening. No hurry. Wanted a pleasant evening. Not here. Restaurant partially full yet sat near a table of kids and in a runway aisle. Ordered drinks and 3 courses and food brought out so quick the server said here's your entree, make room on the table. We had them hold the plates in the kitchen till we were ready. The trout deboning was a nightmare and left about 50% of the fish edible, but delicious. Apologies and some amends, but we presume many better choices are out there for a couple looking for a nice evening out in Asheville. Did not feel welcome.

I always tell folks who are going to Ashville to be sure to go to Rhubarb. The food is consistently great, the service lovely, the people friendly. I am addicted to the pimento cheese but everything there is just fabulous.

our first visit. Enjoyed the ambiance, the waitress was outstanding. However, we were seated under the A/C vent so my food was cold. I asked for it to be heated but the chef did a new plate which was good. Unfortunately, they hurried to get it back to me and the new French toast was burned on the bottom and they left off the toppings. Also, I suggest you change the "syrup" to something different did not like the taste of what was served. My husband enjoyed the Rhuberger and fries and we will try it again.

Amazing brunch menu! I got the fried chicken biscuit it was a huge portion and amazing flavor! The Bloody Mary looked amazing at the table next to me too!!!

Rhubarb was a cute restaurant in a good location. The food was incredibly pricey for a mediocre meal. For example - we paid $16 for 6 mussels in a broth. I would say it was fine but for the price, definitely not worth it.

Reservation for 8.15. Table wasn't ready until 8.45.

Adventure in dining. Our group of 4 gave food mixed reviews. Food was "trying too hard". Not one traditional item on the table but sometimes food you recognize is good.

A roommate from college was in town for work. We planned a meal out. I had not been to Rhubard in several years and decided to take my friend there for our meal and catch up time together. I had forgotten how excellent the food is. And to me, it seems even better. My buddy is a world traveler. And he eats in some of the best restaurants in the world and in the large cities of the U.S. He was blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The server helped me negotiate around my dairy allergy. We both had fish, he the trout and myself the tilefish. We shared a large greens salad and two large vegetables. The vegetables were done rightly with texture and their natural fresh taste at the fullness of quality local veggies. Our server was very helpful. In fact, when she was in the middle of refilling our water glasses my friend asked a specific question about one of the house wines. She answered the detailed question with not a moment of thought. She is that familiar with the wines which I would say is very unusual. He was very pleased with the choice of his second glass of wine as it paired with his fish and the vegetables. We both left saying that Rhubarb is on the top of our list for a time in the near future. Wes in Asheville.

My husband and I found the food to be overly heavy and greasy. The flavors were nice... but not quite on the mark. Perhaps we didn’t order well.

I love this place! The food is amazing, service is excellent, and sitting on the patio on a Fri or Sat night is a must to see the hustle and bustle of beautiful and vibrant downtown Asheville. The buskers are excellent and switch out pretty often on the corner. You’ll love the experience!

I love a good farm-to-table restaurant--and Rhubarb is a good one. We sat outside, and the music from the street (lots of drumming) made it hard to talk for a while, but then it rained (hard), and the music stopped, and many diners moved inside (it was a really hard rain that made sitting near the railing a little dangerous if you wanted to stay dry), but we were away from the edge and stuck it out. It was actually nice after the rain. The food was good--the burrata was amazing (though I could have used some more of the accompaniments (rhubarb and strawberries)), the meatballs were very good, but the mushroom/bean cassoulet was a little disappointing--not too flavorful in the end. All in all, a very good dinner. I'd definitely go back and recommend it to others.

Rhubarb is a very nice restaurant with very interesting dishes, mostly very well made. Limited choices in coffee, only regular coffee. We sat on the porch with our dog, it was a bit tight but worked great. Good location.

Rhubarb lived up to its reputation. The food was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, although timing was a little off, we felt rushed even though the place was not crowded. There is a chefs table which looked like a great spot to be. Asheville has many choices and this should be tops on the list!

My husband just said: "One of my favorite restaurants ever!" Everything is amazing! From the Oysters Benton to the variety of cheeses, the lamb, pork belly and everything else it's incredible! Eric was perfect at making recommendations. Love it and will be back asap!

We came for dinner and only had 1 appetizers. We found the menu difficult to understand. The outside seating is very loud and non-appealing with the street traffic

Lucky to sit outside on a beautiful night in Asheville. My wife had an excellent steak dish and I had delicious, fresh trout. I did not expect such wonderful oysters in western NC, but we had them. A very talented and not too loud street musician made for a very fun evening.

Referred to by a co-worker, Rhubarb is a delicious farm to table restaurant, with unique flavor to some brunch classics. Anything with the gravy is a must!

The overall experience was great. We had specialty cocktails, ordered multiple smalls and enjoyed each and every item. Service was very professional and unhurried. We were able to order additional courses after each course which is not always the case and we appreciated that.

The food was incredible. Fresh and satisfying, our best meal on vacation. They were so friendly to our toddler...very accommodating for families who still want a nice meal out. Really exceeded our expectations.
