American
Rhubarb serves seasonal, regional American fare, sourced from nearby farms and dairies. Acclaimed chef John Fleer, formerly of Blackberry Farm, and his team craft a daily-changing menu including wood-fired dishes, plates made for sharing, house-baked breads, and other rustic creations. A thoughtful wine list showcasing natural and biodynamic wines and a full bar round out the offerings. Rhubarb asks that parties of 6 or more please contact the restaurant directly. We are closed every Tuesday.

My wife and I ate a late dinner at Rhubarb the night after our wedding. Our server was patient and kind; the food was AMAZING; and, bonus: a busker nearby with the voice of an angel played guitar and sang our first dance song for us (at our request). We slow danced out on the patio, which we had all to ourselves, and it was magical. The staff gave us dessert on the house and congratulated us on our marriage. Again, just magical. Thank you so, so very much. ❤️

First time I visited a year ago it was excellent, thus went again when in town. A tad disappointed this time - my colleagues fish was under cooked on one end and I had to ask for additional salt to flavor the vegetarian (which was mostly beans and kale and little else).

Unfortunately we had an all around bad experience. Two of us had the Toad in a Hole. Egg should have a soft yolk but both were hard cooked and overcooked. Bacon was not hot. Cornbread side was so dry it crumbled when you tried to cut it. Service was beyond slow. Even waitress commented that she could not figure out why they had one bartender for a busy Sunday brunch. Waitress was very nice but everything else that was bad outweighed this positive.

Lovely atmosphere with excellent food and team. They may have been a bit short on servers the day that we came but still good service just the tiniest bit slower than I would have expected for getting there right at opening. Otherwise yummy and creative food locally sourced and beautiful space.

this was by far our least favorite meal in Asheville. The service was quite good. The food was average and not worth remembering. The one dish that could be called excellent was the roasted trout.

I sat on the patio and waited 10 minutes for someone to bring me water. Then I waited another five minutes for my server to ask me if I wanted something else to drink. After that the service was good. There was a commercial or something being filmed at the entrance of the restaurant using people from the patio. No one came to explain what was going on or apologize for the lights and ladders and noise right next to me.This started after I was seated. The meal and cocktail were excellent.

An Asheville favorite. Sat outside so a little noisy but easy to have a conversation. Great service and food.

Food was a little disappointing. Their seasoned butter was kind of sweet (in addition to having rosemary) and I didn't love the combination. i got the cassoulet which was pretty good but nothing special.

We were delighted with our visit to Rhubarb and enjoyed the breakfast-ish biscuit dish, as well as an excellent green salad with perfectly done steak addition. The RhuBurger is one of the best we've had, and our waiter was very attentive. Now we need to plan to go back for dinner!

We were really looking forward to our evening and our meal. It was our opinion that they simply tried too hard to create dishes that were unique. Great location and great ambiance. However, my suggestion would be to take it down a notch. You really don't need that many flavors in one dish. The Mushrooms in my dessert took it over the edge. Not for us. Sorry!

Lots of deconstructed dishes including the baba ghanoush so need to ask for explanations. Disappointed they were out of the Sunday supper special by 7:15, which is pretty early. Interior a little too industrial cold for my taste. Good service, very friendly wait staff.

I generally despise brunchBUT Rhubarb has a GREAT brunch. Delicious southern food, great service, good beverages and no damn background music. Not cheap but not extravagant either. Go and be fed!

Menu looked great but food was mediocre. The kitchen could not cook an egg properly at brunch time (tried to redo 3 times!) and the potatoes in both dishes we ordered were undercooked and cold when they arrived.

The food was tasty but we felt neglected by our server. Had she been more attentive we would’ve likely ordered more food. We were ready to leave because no one had checked on us in a while. The server did apologize, however it made the experience less pleasurable

Just finished dinner and must say this is one of the worst tasting dishes I believe I’ve ever had. We got the trout which was cooked well but there was no seasoning on anything on the plate, the “okra cake” was disgusting and was basically made up of the left over endings of the okra over baked into some sort of cornbread that was dry and tasteless. The field peas were undercooked and had no seasoning, we both took one bite and never went back to them.

We were looking forward to this meal and unfortunately were tremendously let down. Better off going to any one of the other recommended spots in Asheville and it hurts to say that as we had high expectations.

Your entrees, one featuring grouper and the other pork, were absolutely the best we had during our week in Asheville. Interestingly, a street musician playing an electric violin on the sidewalk outside the restaurant was equally extraordinary and turned our already excellent experience into something quite magical!

If you want to feel well taken care in a casual atmosphere with delicious, creative farm to table dishes, head to Rhubarb. The staff is friendly, attentive, and absolutely on it if you have any sort of food intolerances. Excellent all around experience!

A fine dining experience. Seated and attended quickly. Food choices are unique. All we ordered was very tasty. Table side fish filleting was interesting but could be off putting for some. Left some bones which are annoying while eating. Flavors of fish for two were complementary. Noise bounced quite a bit, particularly from one loud table. The “hardness” of the dining room absorbs no sound. Enjoyed my birthday dinner.

My wife an I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Rhubarb in Asheville, NC We shared 3 small plates and one entre. It included Crispy Fried Hominy, Seared Royal Red Shrimp, Heritage Pork Meatballs, and Full Entre of Planch Seared NC Grouper. The menu can change daily based available local and regional ingredients. There is a small open kitchen with a woodfired oven. The restaurant was packed, but the service was excellent and the dishes arrived with perfect timing. We usually skip desserts when dining out, but for our golden anniversary, we made an exception. The herbed ice cream with crisp toffee crumbles and brownie with cream sauce and hard chocolate were excellent. No negatives here on this night. Highly recommend.
