German Potato Salad
warm sliced Yukon potatoes, tossed in crispy bacon, pickled shallot, parsley and mustard vinaigrette
They brought out the appetizer after our entree. The food was okay, not well seasoned. The pork shank was bland and we had to smother it in mustard to get some flavor. The schnitzel is really good along with turnips. Not bad but not really good either. The server was nice
Lots of noise, hard to hold a conversation with anyone not seated across or next to you.
This was my first time eating here since the pandemic and I like how they’ve adapted. However, due to these changes (ordering from your phone through ToastTab, be aware that if you order an appetizer it will come with the rest of your meal instead of getting some time to enjoy it before your entree.
Food is still great and I look forward to returning, but definitely no appetizer next time ☹️.
The food ordered was mediocre. But other options could have be better and as I am very open to returning I will be trying other options on the menu. Several beers have taster sizes for $0.50 which are close to a flight size making them excellent value to try different beers.
Great place with an amazing character to the location, food, and overall ambience!
Just the right spot for a comfort food meal. Good food and good beer, what else could you ask for?
Basically dressed up bar food in a very noisy setting. Sausages were lukewarm, schnitzel was tough. Waited nearly 15 minutes to be waited on. Won't be back.
What a fun and festive place ! We happen to have had many years in the Upper Midwest, including over a decade in Wisconsin itself, so this place resonates with us ! The Wisconsin food specialites are fine - - fish fry is not as delectable as a true Wis. fish fry, with overly-breaded walleye ( but it IS walleye and tastes delicious anyway), and 'toasted' marble rye bread? - - not the way you get it in Wisconsin. But food is very good and plentiful, and we all enjoyed our wursts and schnitzels and cheese curds ( the real deal). Service is exceptional !! And the Old Fashioneds are absolutely delish !!
The app didn't work (told me the system was over loaded) and I finally had to go and order via the bar tender. If you want folks to use the app then make sure it works. Then after I ordered it took over an hour (had to ask the bar tender twice how the food was coming along) to get the food and the appetizer came out at the same time as the main course.
The menu is way too extensive to try to order using our phones. Hope you can bring back regular menus soon, or figure out an easier system.
Great food and atmosphere
Great food, great service. Been here multiple times and we are never disappointed. Love this place!
Great food and great service!
This was a terrible follow up to our last visit pre Covid. We requested a regular table, were seated at a bar top, the noise was so loud it was impossible to hold a conversation, and all the food was watery and bland.
Great place to eat! I would recommend!
Very easy to order through app, and split payment from a large party. Felt very germ safe - tables spaced out, servers following protocols.
There was parking nearby. The food was fun, plentiful, and delicious. The servers were very attentive although we could have done all ordering virtually if we wanted. My only disappointment was that I thought there used to be perch on the menu, but if so, no longer. My husband had the pork shank, and I had a brat. Yum!
Being from Wisconsin myself I can tell ya that the food was on par. The cheese curds were legit and no different than the curds from one of my favorite spots in Madison. The sausage plate was great, all of them were fantastic. Will be returning in the future. Beer selection was next level too. You guys run a tight ship
Definitely not German food. If you are looking for a good place to have some beer, fine. But I was looking for a good place to have some good German food and this is not the place. I think if one was drunk, one would still not take the food to be German. PS_ hard miss on the pretzel. Overall, hard pass.
Rhine Haus did not disappoint. In spite of the Covid restrictions, we had a great time. We felt the ambiance was not "normal" and the service was somewhat restricted, but the staff still went out of their way to make it a memorable time. Reminded us of our travels in Germany. We ate too much (if that's possible) and loved it all.
Enjoyed drinks and dessert for my friend’s bday. Great music playing on speakers. We just wish bocce ball would open up!
Rhein Haus created a unique covid protocol which was fantastic. Drinks and food were ordered online, and payment was also completed online without server touching your credit card.
I ordered the susage platter and there was so much food that I could only finish 1/2. My wife enjoyed the pork schnitzel very much. The side order of spatzel and potato pancakes were also delicious.
Alought March Madness was on multiple screens. The noise level was low.
Service was prompt and polite. Great restaurant
Had a great time. Was a different experience with the app in ordering food and drinks, but once we got the hang of it, it was super quick. Our waitress was lovely and the atmosphere was great. An awesome place to take friends and relax with some good beer!
My only knock is the confusing way you now have to order (thanks, Covid). A beer order was placed, I could see it on the ticket, yet the server said there wasn’t anything shown on her end. So I ordered it again and got my beer, followed by a second beer 2 minutes later. A fellow diner drank it and we all had a good laugh, but still not how it was supposed to work. Beyond that, I/we LOVE this place and dine there whenever we have company in town. Best authentic German food anywhere in town!!
Great experience. Enjoyed Das Boot, gigantic pretzel, and lots of sausages. Go with the jalapeño bratwurst!
The music was rather loud, and not the best theme. With that said, the beer and sausages were both amazing!
Met friends here Saturday night just a few days after they had reopened from Covid shutdown.
Food was great. Some of our crowd wasn’t excited about the German Potato salad, but I loved it! Sausage and beer was fantastic for all!
Service was excellent as well, sadly no Bocce ball (cuz Covid) though.
Overall great experience!
We came in Saturday evening and had a top notch experience. The bartender you have on staff is the best person I’ve ever met. It’s almost as if we’ve been best friends for years.
Awesome food and atmosphere and servers are extremely helpful during these COVID times.
I love the Rhein House. Even when two of the older people in our group couldn’t quite figure out the new ordering method the waiter was amazing and took their order and had their food out to them super quick. I truly appreciated his help and the time he took to help them.
The food was amazing as always! My family was absolutely blown away by the food. They would have never ate anything like that on their own and was happy we took them there.
My only small baby complaint was a speaker was pointed toward our table and it was just a little loud. I didn’t mind the volume but I know the others were struggling to hear.
This place has apparently closed
Wasn’t open, made reservations and never got a notification saying it wasn’t open. Showed up with a lock on the door and completely blacked out.
Schweinshaxe... that is all that needs to be said. Five stars.
We recently went to Rhein Haus for brunch and it was a great experience! The food was incredible, and they even had some classic brunch options if you didn’t want to stick to the (incredible) German food choices! The portions were huge and the value was great!
Good place for beers
Good atmosphere great customer service
The food is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, our server and drinks weren't as great. two of us ordered cocktails, and they were some of the worst cocktails I'd ever had. Strongly suggest sticking to beer. Our server forgot to take our food order, and never gave us waters or silverware. We ended up having to chase her down to get the check. Having been a server I totally understand being busy, but she had 3 tables and it was a slow night. Hopefully, this was just an off night for them, as the food is really amazing authentic german food.
Came here on a Saturday and was so happy we made that decision! The food is SO good. I would highly recommend the mashed potatoes, or the German potato salad (seriously unreal.) the food quality was super fresh and you could tell it was quality and thought of. I can’t wait to come back here!
We love this place! The food did take quite a while this time around.. service was wonderful as always. Food was delicious. Not sure why it took so long to come out though (45 minutes). We had to rush eating so we could get home to meet the babysitters curfew.
Not a bad spot.
