Not a bad meal and having a gift certificate that paid for most of it was nice however.....the steaks are good but not better than you can fix at home with basic skills. The prices are pretty high. The sides were typical steak house things ....potatoes, asparagus, beans, and again not better than someone with some experience can do at home. The wine list was good with selections at reasonable prices. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. Pretty bland interior. Overall, OK but way too pricey and would not recommend or return. I do not mind paying top dollar for a meal but at these prices I would need something more to bring me back.
We hadn't been to Rey's in a long time. We came to celebrate my Dad's birthday. It was really good and we'll definitely be back. They are also opening a patio this spring and it will be great for outside dining.
We had an extra long wait time. I was disappointed we had to wait almost 45 minutes despite having a reservation. I will go back to Rey's. The food was excellent as always but, I'll probably take a break for awhile and try some other places.
Great place, I’ll be back.
From the moment we entered, it was a laughably terrible experience. The hostess couldn't understand our apparently thick American accents and we had to repeat the name three times. Next, the waitress came to get our drink order immediately upon our being seated, and when we asked her to come back she waited 10 minutes prior to returning. Once we did order drinks she accidentally brought us a single glass of wine prior to retreiving our actual drinks another 10 minutes later. The wondefully attentive bus boys continuously kept our water glasses full to the point that we could not lift them without the water sloshing over the sides of the glasses, but at least our hands remained clean. I particularly enjoyed when one of them reached over my shoulder from behind me to fill up my glass. I couldn't even thank this mystery person for overfilling my glass as I only saw an arm.
The lyonnaise potatoes were so well done that they would have been more fitting as a breakfast side with pancakes and eggs. My tuna steak was neither seared on the outside or cooked appropriately. I requested medium rare, as typical tuna steak is red in the center, and the waitress rebutteled with medium well, even after I assured her that I did not want it well done. As it turns out, her opinion must have trumped mine, as my tuna arrived medium well. My date's $30 piece of grouper was approximately three inches in diameter. We were left questioning whether they forgot the rest in the kitchen? Good thing we had the crispy lyonnaise potatoes to fill up on.
It was a wonderful dinner. I too my wife for our anniversary. The food was fantastic and service was great.
Rey’s is a very good special occasion restaurant. They have very good food and great service but at a price. The food has a Cajun flare to it with nice presentation and nice ambiance. Everything is a la cart which is what adds to the cost. Definitely worth going to but in moderation because of the expense.
Outstanding meal and great service.
Nice ambience, we enjoyed having dinner, this was my 3 rd visit
Our experience was excellent. Warm and attentive service despite a busy night (Valentine's), fantastic recommendations, and a lovely atmosphere. Would go again in a heartbeat.
Dinner at Rey's was phenomenal. We both started our meal off with the lobster bisque and then ordered the New York Strip with garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms as our entree. The desert was great as well. We wrapped up our meal with the bread pudding. We even had enough to take home for a second full meal. I would highly recommend it seeing as this was probably the best steak I've ever had.
Rey's has become "our place" for special occasions (anniversaries, Valentines, New Year's Eve.) We've had exemplary service and very well-made drinks. And the steaks...come to the table absolutely perfect!
Great food, great service.....best in the Triangle!
This was a really great place ! Good drinks, good food and great service. I did notice that the prices were higher for Valentines Day.
Rey's is the place to go for a great meal, the food is always prepared to your desire.
The service is excellent, there is always great conversation with the new and older staff.
The restaurant is very pleasing and Rey makes you feel like you one of the family.
This is my favorite place to go for special occasion or just a relaxing meal.
Lastly lets not forget the wonderful Banana's Fosters that's always a treat to watch being prepared and truly a great desert to feast upon.
Excellent food and service. You know it’s expensive going in. I don’t see price as a negative. Sides are enough to serve 3-4 persons. Steak are outstanding. I always enjoy going to Rey’s.
I'm never disappointed when we dine at Rey's. One of our favorites! This Valentine's meal was no exception. Great server, delicious food, excellent atmosphere!
This was our first visit and will definitely return. Our waiter was new but very attentive and gracious.
Outstanding. Worth a one hour drive. Scott, our server, was just terrific. Rey is "hands-on" and speaks with every customer. Will be back. Lobster bisque, grouper, steaks, salads - great. Glad we made the choice to come to Rey's.
I really enjoyed dining in at Rey’s I definitely will come back again!
Rey’s is amazing! Everything is wonderful-food, staff, ambience &
Drinks. It is a great place to go for special occasions & also just a terrific meal.
I would recommend Rey’s to everyone.
My husband and I went to celebrate Valentines Day with a special meal before having to give up some things for Lent and Rey's did not disappoint. They accommodated for anything we asked and even allowed us to split the surf and turf, cooking the meat specific to each of our individual request. The martinis were exceptional and the service was excellent. We highly recommend Rey's.
Excellent as always. Great food and service. We come back again and again.
I don't want to wish my life away, but I do so look forward to the next occasion to visit Rey's. I have a reputation as a bit of a grillmaster, earned over 5 decades, cooking on charcoal and gas. Rey's Ribeye put my best to shame. Go there.
I chose this restaurant to celebrate Mardi Gras because "a New Orleans flare" is actually part of it's self-description. I was so disappointed. The regular menu has very few truly New Orleans-inspired dishes. However, I thought the restaurant would have a special menu with New Orleans staples for Mardi Gras, i.e. jambalaya, etouffee, red beans and rice, etc.; it did not. And the ambiance was that of a library.
Rey’s rates among our favorite restaurants of all time. The food is incredible. Rey and his staff are friendly, helpful and give the best service. We highly recommend it!
Excellent evening out. Food was very good, scallop app was pheonominal, rack of lamb incredible and fabulous desserts. The romain hearts salad was a little underwhelming and the marsala lacked a little but overall a stellar experience well worth the evening out. :)
I had the grouper, tasted pretty good but portion a little to small for the price.
The service was impeccable!
EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!! The steaks, oysters, drinks, even the bread and butter was fantastic. The ambiance was a 5 star, however, as we were leaving, there was a bubba in jeans, a flannel shirt, and wearing a ballcap while eating. I mean I just spent over $200 for our first visit there, there ought to be some sort of dress code. I do NOT blame Reys in any way. This person wasn't raised correctly. We plan to go back again soon, and we've already told our friends and families what a wonderful experience we had.
Great time and service. Looking forward to our next visit
