Rey's Ratings and Reviews
Rey’s is a very good special occasion restaurant. They have very good food and great service but at a price. The food has a Cajun flare to it with nice presentation and nice ambiance. Everything is a la cart which is what adds to the cost. Definitely worth going to but in moderation because of the expense.
Dinner at Rey's was phenomenal. We both started our meal off with the lobster bisque and then ordered the New York Strip with garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms as our entree. The desert was great as well. We wrapped up our meal with the bread pudding. We even had enough to take home for a second full meal. I would highly recommend it seeing as this was probably the best steak I've ever had.
Rey's is the place to go for a great meal, the food is always prepared to your desire.
The service is excellent, there is always great conversation with the new and older staff.
The restaurant is very pleasing and Rey makes you feel like you one of the family.
This is my favorite place to go for special occasion or just a relaxing meal.
Lastly lets not forget the wonderful Banana's Fosters that's always a treat to watch being prepared and truly a great desert to feast upon.
My husband and I went to celebrate Valentines Day with a special meal before having to give up some things for Lent and Rey's did not disappoint. They accommodated for anything we asked and even allowed us to split the surf and turf, cooking the meat specific to each of our individual request. The martinis were exceptional and the service was excellent. We highly recommend Rey's.
I chose this restaurant to celebrate Mardi Gras because "a New Orleans flare" is actually part of it's self-description. I was so disappointed. The regular menu has very few truly New Orleans-inspired dishes. However, I thought the restaurant would have a special menu with New Orleans staples for Mardi Gras, i.e. jambalaya, etouffee, red beans and rice, etc.; it did not. And the ambiance was that of a library.
Excellent evening out. Food was very good, scallop app was pheonominal, rack of lamb incredible and fabulous desserts. The romain hearts salad was a little underwhelming and the marsala lacked a little but overall a stellar experience well worth the evening out. :)
EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!! The steaks, oysters, drinks, even the bread and butter was fantastic. The ambiance was a 5 star, however, as we were leaving, there was a bubba in jeans, a flannel shirt, and wearing a ballcap while eating. I mean I just spent over $200 for our first visit there, there ought to be some sort of dress code. I do NOT blame Reys in any way. This person wasn't raised correctly. We plan to go back again soon, and we've already told our friends and families what a wonderful experience we had.
Rey's continues to deliver with fine service and excellent food even on a busy pre-Valentine's weekend. Jason remains our favorite, most attentive member of the waitstaff. We are excited about the expansion underway that will offer an inviting outdoor patio complete with outdoor eating, cigar lounge and fireplace.
The service was pretty good, but there could have been improvements elsewhere.
The steak was undercooked. Both my wife and I are fine eating rare steaks, which is what we each received for our ribeye. However, we each ordered medium rare. They were very much rare though.
The knives were unable to cut the steaks. It took a couple tries for them to bring us out ones that were sharp enough to be usable. (The steaks being rare didn't help with this.)
It's been over 10 years since I was last at Reys, and it may be another ten before I try it again. It's a shame we didn't have a better experience, as we're building our new house <10 minutes away.
If you're wanting an upscale meal, I'd recommend you try elsewhere. Depending on your style and budget, Fairview or Herons are much better overall.
We started our meal with a special lobster-chunk appetizer and a few pieces were tough and chewy (the other parts were very tasty though). Two people in our party of 4 ordered the $41 prime rib eye. Although both tasted good, one was at least 1/3 fat or gristle. Normally my husband isn't bother by a little fat on his steak, but it looked like half the steak was still on the plate when he finished. We have never had a ribeye with so much you couldn't eat. One person ordered the filet and that was good and one person order fish which was very good. For the money, we were a little disappointed, but we might give it another try in the future.
We enjoyed and appreciated our waiter, Angelo, who went above and beyond to find a white wine I liked to go with the salmon I ordered. My husband had the chicken piccata, Caesar salad, and lyonnaise potatoes—his favorites. I loved the fruit, capers, and cilantro which topped the salmon.
Previous meals at Rey’s had been excellent; so it was quite disappointing to get one that at best was mediocre. Three of four at the table ordered the smaller filet; usually this steak can be easily cut with a butter knife - not so on this occasion. Some effort was required to get through it with the steak knife. While the sides were tasty, three fell short of providing a sufficient quantity for our four diners - this also hasn’t been the case in the past. The service was excellent and we will return. But if this experience is the start of a new trend, we’ll have to look elsewhere for our special occasion dinners.
