Revolucion Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Not a good valentine’s dinner experience.
Restaurant was pretty full. Had to wait along with 3 other parties that had reservations and were on time about 20 mins to be seated. Staff was trying to figure out mixed bills and food orders that had “disappeared” from their system. Drinks and Food took an average amount of time given how busy the rest was. The quality of the food was not as good as I remember.
It was Valentine’s Day and they said you could do a prix fixed menu or order a la Carter from the regular menu. We chose a la carte. We were there for close to 2 hours and never received our food. However every table around us got their food because they did the prix fixed option. The kitchen and staff were terrible and didn’t offer us anything while we waited, not a free drink, bread, chips or salsa. Nothing. They just kept saying “our food was coming right out.” The food never came. We waited until close to 10 PM before we left which was too late to go elsewhere. Terrible customer service and operations management.
My wife and I went to Revolucion for Valentine's Day 2018. We had been here a few times previously and had wonderful experiences. Unfortunately it seemed like the restaurant was overbooked and understaffed for the holiday. Our waiter wandered aimlessly about and frequently forgot where we were in our process. It took 30 minutes for our first round of drinks to arrive and 60 minutes for our food from the time we sat down (we ordered drinks nearly immediately and food about 10 minutes later). Our cocktails were perfectly delicious, and although we planned initially to have another round or wine with dinner, we never had the opportunity to order. Our food was delicious (I had the Surf and Turf, she had a Filet Mignon with a Blue Cheese crust; although, she found the Blue Cheese a bit overwhelming).
We did have a great experience. The food was wonderful though one thing could have been done better. We did the restaurant week menu. My dinner companion got the croquettes and I got the soup. The croquettes were delicious from what I was told. My dinner guy didn't care for the bed of roastedorn, but I tried it and thought it was nicely done.
The soup noted poblano peppers of which I'm not a fa. It was a really nice French onion! And the poblano's were only a few slivers. The soup maybe needed a little more beef base or maybe a little more pepper for some "kick" .
For the entree, we both got the filet mignonette. He's allergic to mushrooms and had to skip the Madeira sauce. The mignon's were perfectly done steakhouse-style. I ordered medium-rare and got a perfect cut. When Ihit the center, it was almost purple and the was the slightest hint of a "moo" when I cut into it! As I said, he is allergic to mushrooms and had to skip the meira sauce. This was low point of a wonderful meal. Given my companions mushroom allergy he couldn't do the Madeira sauce,as noted. He didn't ask for a substitutionsauce nor did our server suggest one. That was what it was. Despite that glitch, he too got a perfectly cooked piece of steak.
Dessert: tit was good. Lava cakes did lack "lava." I didn't understand the candied beetsand found them unnecessary.
Despite the details, it was agreed that we would dine here again. Noise was an issue since we were seated in the bar area. The two drunk chicks next to us didn't make for a great dining experience. If you can, try to get seated in the dining area.
Again, despite details, I would definitely eat here again!!!!!
Good vibe and decor. Varied fairly priced menu with interesting margarita twists. Food was good (7.5/10), but the service was abysmal. Waited for drinks -- and 45 minutes for chips and salsa. Entrees came out after 55 minutes, but tortilla soup arrived thereafter, inexplicably. Obviously total miscommunication from the beginning. The restaurant did comp drinks and I'd give it another try, but they have some service issues to atend to.
I had a reservation and still waited 25 minutes to be seated. Then, we waited 30 minutes for our food after we ordered. The food was fine, but not necessarily worth the wait. The restaurant was also extremely loud. I would be more inclined to leave a positive review had I not had to wait so long to sit down with a reservation.
Came here during Restaurant Week randomly; saw they were having bottomless mimosas. I was pleasantly surprised how amazing the food was and the mimosas were refreshing as well. The servers kept pouring mimosas as if it was water. The horchata French toast was to die for; so scrumptious. The pork skillet was very tasty. I definitely recommend this place for its food, service and energetic ambiance!
We booked for restaurant week, and when my husband arrived, they did not have the rez, despite Open Table confirming the reservation AND me calling and leaving a message that day requesting if there were any issues that they call me. No one called me. We get our table, most of us order the lamb shank, manager comes round later to say that they dropped a tray of lamb shanks and requests we order something else given how long it takes to cook the shanks. We reorder. This is now the second mishap that has occurred, and yet at no time were we offered a round of drinks or comped apps or anything. The food was delicious, and otherwise it was great—but the service was pretty awful, and the lack of accountability they took for their mistakes was irritating—even though we were there for Restaurant Week, with drinks and apps we still spent $80/person, so it’s not like I’m cheap or something. But failing to call me, and not trying to make up for not having the entree that 4/6 people at the table ordered is kind of garbage, imo.
The food was excellent, but unfortunately, our overall experience was not too great. We took advantage of the Restaurant week menu, along with the wine pairings. While everything tasted good, the food and the wine were not served in a timely fashion, other than the first course, our wines arrived half way into our course. But again, I have to stress that the food was really good and made the trip worth it! I imagine we would give it another whirl!
Our visit to Revolucion was great. The food was very good and the service was wonderful. Both our server and the restaurant manager were nice, helpful and created a great atmosphere. We were there celebrating 3 birthdays and they were so kind and even gave us our desserts on the house. I will definitely be back.
I really, really wanted to like this place. The food was decent (not great, but pretty good), but the service was terrible. We were seated 1/2 hour after our reservation. They gave us a free drink at the bar, so we rolled with it. But once we sat at our table, it took more than a half our to get the guacamole we ordered when we sat down. Thirty-four minutes. For guacamole. We then waited forever for the entrees and it took asking a few people to get the bill. The people next to us gave up and went to the front desk to demand their bill. The server seemed overworked, so it definitely seems like an institutional issue. This place has promise, so I hope they get their act together.
I've been to Revolucion a few times now and the experience has been consistent each time; slow service but worth it for the incredible food. They clearly want you to enjoy the meal rather than rush through it. As long as you are not in a hurry, it's probably the best place for a steak in the neighborhood.
We checked out Revolucion for a last-minute Saturday brunch and we loved it! A little crowded on the second floor where we sat, but the food was great, waitstaff was very attentive, and the ambiance was fun. Definitely try the Huarache de Cecina. It was delicious!
Made reservations for 8:15 but our schedule changed and we arrive earlier, planning to wait in the bar if necessary. Instead, they accommodated our change easily and graciously, seating us much closer to 7:00. Lovely interior, delicious food, and the service was attentive without being hovering. Will definitely return.
Dinner was great! I had the toasted coconut margarita (which was the special that night) and it was excellent! I have been craving it ever since. Joe was our waiter and he was very attentive. Would definitely go back and also recommend anyone to check it out
This restaurant is one of our go to places in the neighborhood. We are usually very satisfied. But at this visit left us disappointed. Mostly it was about the timing. A good half hour until the drinks arrived it was an hour till we had a salad and an hour and 20 minutes until we had our food. Even though it was a lovely evening outside. That is way too long to wait. Our waiter seemed to not to notice the delay and offered no explanation. When we asked where our drinks were in when they would be ready he replied "as soon as the bartender makes them". The food was as always good and well prepared. I hope this was just an off night. We will go back.
Loved this restaurant! The food ,cocktails and service were excellent! Had the tortilla soup and it has a nice thick broth with some spice. Guac and chips were tasty. The chips were light and crisp. Tried the watermelon margarita and one of their special drinks which came in a ceramic cup. Both were yummy! We had the salmon with mango topping which was a generous portion and cooked perfectly, the combo with crab cakes and skirt steak, and chicken fajitas. All were delicious. We were too full for dessert but they looked delicious.
Had a great dinner with my wife. This Chicago steakhouse is top notch! We both had the filet revolucion and each bite was very tender and delicious. Cooked perfectly medium rare. They have good local craft beers and a good margarita sangria Thursday night special that my wife enjoyed. The lava cake is a bomb dessert. Overall the food is high quality and reasonably affordable. Highly recommend Revolucion Mexican Steakhouse!
