Reverb is a stylish, contemporary restaurant offering modern American cuisine and cocktails in San Francisco, California. The interior is tastefully decorated with floating shelves lined with books adorning the rustic brick walls. Exposed ductwork and low hanging lamps with Edison bulbs complete the modern aesthetic while avoiding feeling pretentious. On the contrary, the warm, welcoming atmosphere of Reverb is one of its strongest attributes.
The menu is playful, with appetizers like a salad of "raked leaves," which is butternut squash, pear, pomegranate and crisp vegetables leaves plated to resemble a pile of fallen leaves in autumn. Under the entre� heading, the whimsical and creative dishes continue with the fairy ring, a plate of house-made duck-quince sausage, cavatelli pasta, sage pesto, porcini, and a butterscotch and a mushroom cream. There's also an extensive wine and cocktail list so guests can find the perfect drink to pair with their meal.
Food profile/flavors were good but it was really salty! Nice decor and service was very good.
Not really sure if this was what I ordered, but was disappointed at the number of veggies that were cooked by deep frying.

Food was pretty good, slightly overpriced but not egregious. The space was attractive and the drinks were good. Server was a little awkward but there were no issues. I have no complaints but don't think this will be part of our regular rotation.
Sadly the food at Reverb keeps going down. I'm no longer comparing it to Verbena, that was a totally different class, just comparing Reverb to previous Reverb visits has shown a decline as well. There are better options on Polk and in the area.
Went here for brunch on a Saturday at 11:30. I had reservations but it wasn't overly packed at all, so they may not have been necessary. The brunch menu wasn't very large but there were plenty of great options on the menu. I had an egg sandwich with housemade SPAM which was pretty darn good. We also shared the doughnuts which were also quite good. The brunch cocktails were tasty and refreshing and were a great compliment to the food.
Reverb is a terrific space but the service was abysmal and the food mediocre at best. It used to be terrific as Verbena: I wish they could have kept up the food quality and service. My cannelloni was tough and dry. Hamburgers were ok but what is the white sticky stuff in the pots at the base of the French fries. It was unidentifiable by the whole table of six. Sorry to write this, I had hopes.
Let me say first......the food was delicious. Our issues began with the hostess seating us in their upstairs "loft" dining room when half of the main dining room was open. She then sat us at the worst table in the entire restaurant...right next to the service area for the room. She knew we were not happy. We then moved to another table upstairs when the server arrived who acknowledged she was new when asked about the only chardonnay sold by the glass. She was very nice just not helpful. The gentleman that served the dishes seemed very polished. Overall we had a nice meal but not at all memorable. We were glad to leave our loft area when done since two groups of four very loud people each had just been seated and needless to say, the noise level tripled.
Salad and risotto main were both excellent. Sadly, could not eat dessert. Nice wine list, too.
We went here as a group of 4 and sat outside as it was a great day. Good coffee and amazing chicken and waffles and pancakes. The bloody Marys were also quite tasty. The service was a bit slow. Not sure if that was because we were outside, but it took a while to get waters on the table and our order in. The location was great for us. Polk Street has a lot going on and good energy.

Will 100% be returning. The brussel sprouts are to die for! And h Fairy Ring pasta is a must.
The food here was amazing and well thought out and prepared. Can't say enough about the care and thought that has put into the different servings. Chef Ryan Shelton is a gift with his cooking and oversight of the kitchen. Bravo to the whole staff for a wonderful me for me and our company team!
We came here for SF restaurant week, and after reading the most recent reviews, I almost cancelled our reservation, but I decided to go ahead and give it a go.
On the plus side, the drinks were amazing and all different. We also loved the complimentary popcorn and ended up ordering it to share. We decided to not order the Prix-fix menu and instead go off the regular menu.
My sister and brother enjoyed their Chicken and Amaranth Waffle, and I really enjoyed the fried Brussels sprouts.
Everything else was kind of meh. After being told they didn't have any more duck and quince sausage, I ordered the Poutine Gnocchi. It was bland, with very little substance. The vegetable gravy was too liquid-y and didn't really stick to the gnocchi. The winter vegetable salad was interesting, but wouldn't be keen on ordering it again either. The sweet potato soup was small, and not worth the amount paid for it.
Dessert was pretty good. Out of all of them, the waiter had recommended the donuts, but our collective favorite was the Mares-eat-oats.
I like the creativity that the chef is trying to show, but I feel they fall just short of the mark. I feel like the flavor profiles need to be bumped up a bit more, and some things need less style and more thought-process.
i would definitely come back for drinks and snacks, but not a full dinner.
We found out about this place because of their listing on SF Restaurant Week, and when we arrived and had a chance to glance over the menu, we ended up ordering different items from their Restaurant Week menu. We sampled a few plates to share and their fried chicken with waffles. Everything was good, the decor was lovely and the staff was fantastic. The shining stars here are definitely their signature cocktails. Incredibly well-balanced, creative and delicious.
