Indianand Thailand sit at similar latitudes. They're tall countries, with cuisines that differ greatly from North to South. Trade routes have connected the two for millennia.
How do the cuisines compare?
Chefs Thaimee and Sarkar were born and raised I. Thailand and India, respectively, and have both cooked around the world. Today, both have restaurants in east village.
On Monday, May 21st, they'll cook together, exploring the flavors of each other's native cuisine, across five courses.
Tickets are just $65 for this special dinner.
Drink Pairings are available for an additional $35
Probably the worst service I’ve ever had in nyc. Not to mention the ripoff for Diwali night which lacked live music and entertainment like promised. Incredibly disappointed.
the food is great, the vibe and decor is great and the service was on point. this is my second time here and i love it. also a great balance of veg and non veg dishes.
No voicemail or prior notice before seating that the menu would be fixed and required for every single person in the party. Butter chicken was not fully cooked, which was off-putting. Constantly asked to order drinks, never asked how we liked the food served to us.
We had a nice time. Food was gooooood, but it was the Diwali celebration and they only had a pre fixe. I want to go back and try dishes from the main menu. Overall great good, good service.
Great food, excellent service and atmosphere
Brilliant cocktails and creative food! The stuffed Naans are to die for! Love the flavors, ambience, variety of dishes, décor.
My girlfriend and I wanted to dine at Baar Baar because of its Indian cuisine. The food was excellent and the ambiance is cool. The bad news is that the waiter served us a Cider that was over the "best before" date. My girlfriend told the waiter about this and waiter's answer was "if you want I can open another one for you, but they all have august/18 best before date". My girlfriend did not want more alcohol, so she passed. But for our surprise, the cider was charged in the bill.
This is my second time here and not my last! The chutneys, the mass breads and sauces are totally amazing! We had buttered chicken, the sea bass and one lamb small plate. Really enjoyed it all.
Great service, super ambience and perfect food.
Absolutely love this place, my second time here.
Need to come here again !!!
We went for birthday party. The cocktails & appetizers were really good
A modern take on Indian food. Faithful to the original but with a twist. Most dishes were both authentic and novel. The chicken malai kebab however was a disappointment. The kulchas were fab, the small plates reasonably sized and as she should be, the dessert carrot halwa cake was a revelation. A place to come baar baar (again and again)!
Excellent ambiance as soon as you walk in. Beautiful bar area to have a drink or two before getting seated for dinner. A very creative menu with very tasty food. Am not a vegetarian but saw a very good vegetarian selection on the menu. Outstanding service being both professional and very friendly.
Great space & ambience! I came here for my birthday, and everything we ordered was amazing! The staff was friendly, and every item on the menu had a twist on the standard Indian version of the dish. Will def come back!
We had a reservation for 8pm and they didn’t seat us till 8:45.
The drink menu looked amazing but we tried 4 at our table and were underwhelmed by them. They all were pretty bland considering how many ingredients they had in them. The food was overall great. I felt the short ribs were dry/tough but the sauce was good. Oysters were out of this world. The Kulches were yummy but didn't understand why they added parmesan to all of them? It's not needed. Service was pretty good...
Creative menu options with very good flavors! Service was great!
Really enjoyed the appetizers. Particularly the Duck Kulcha , tuna salad, ribs. From the mains we the whole fish which was kind of small & just ok & Lamb Raan which was great! Good Tandoori Roti’s. The owner recommended butter chicken but we all found it sweet & did not really eat it. We also had Dal, which was good!
Food is very innovative. Service and ambience are great. Decent number of choices for vegetarian as well. Would certainly go back.
Amazing food and excellent service, this place has grown to be a favorite of mine very quickly. They offer a very unique twist on classic South Asian cuisine and their cocktails are original and incredible. The restaurant has a vibrant decor with music that enhances the dining experience without taking away from your ability to converse with others.
I recently hosted a surprise party here – reaching out to them was simple and the event manager was well-experienced and provided great assistance in helping to plan the event based on my budget. The staff provided incredible, highly-attentive service through-out the party and ensured the guests were comfortable and having a great time, they even let us close out the place without making us feel rushed in anyway. This is fantastic place to dine and I look forward to coming back here many more times in the future.
Food mediocre and did not sit well with me or my husband. Entrées came out before we received appetizers. Service slow.
Loved this new gem in the east village. Really liked the ambience. We were pleasantly surprised with this new place. We reserved a 6:30 spot and the place was almost dead. As we drew closer to 7pm and we were a drink even, the place started filling up very quickly. Loved the small and large plates. Thought the chef was playing it very cautious with the spice levels. For example the chutneys in the small plates were on the side and not mixed in.
The only small hiccup was the dessert. That’s been my problem with all the Indian restaurants in the city. There is no authentic dessert on the menu. I ordered cassata and I was expecting a cassata slice from an ice cream on roadsides of Delhi back in 1995. Instead I got a small slice of some home made ice cream floating in some kind of syrup and that too not alone...yes the ice cream was floating with some stale strawberries. Ruined it a little for me.
Would love to go back to this place but please up your game in desserts.
Their cocktails menu is awesome! Will be back for more...
I was disapointed that we were not seated inside as per my request. Our table outside was fine but the ambiance outside is NOTHING like the ambiance inside. Also the music being played inside was really good but unfortunately we could not hear it outside.I will go back as long as I can be seated inside.
Food was very delicious and innovative. Presentation was lovely and wait stuff was very courteous. Nihari, squash curry with lotus stem koftas were to die for.
Great ambience, decor and a very fun modern take on Indian cuisine ! Portions are great and we were stuffed but will be back to try more dishes !!
The food and drinks were great. We ordered Hyderabad Kheema, Dhahi poori, Malia chicken tikka all from small plates menu and everything was excellent.
Amazing food yet again.
This is my third time at Baar Baar. I love the creative food - the Chef has created a fabulous, lengthy and innovative menu without trying too hard to be fusion-y. Loved everything I have had here.
The vegetarian food was disappointing!
Great food and presentation. Not easy with this cuisine. Authentic taste and interesting twist! And retails the taste essentials. Attentive and knowledgeable staff! Keep up the good work.
Great flavor in all food and handcrafted drinks. Excellent service staff as well.
Amazingly delicious food! So creative and loved the ambiance!
This is a new restaurant which definitely is having lots of good reviews which prompted us to check it out. It is Indian fare with a modern twists. Most flavors are still true to roots making it delectable. I loved how they had the crispy spinach fritters on the aloo tikki, but cream instead of dahi on not so crispy dahi-puri - not so much.
The food tasted good but most dishes were served almost cold. Maybe it was weekend rush, and I might come again to give it another chance.
Went there for restaurant week dinner. Food was amazing, not in a way as traditional Indian cuisine taste, but was great. From drink to food. Everything was just right on spot. Love this place and will definitely come back again.
Terrible place, awful customer service and very rigid staff did not accommodate when we wanted to share only one restaurant week menu
Spicy, imaginative food. Be sure you confirm the level of spiciness before ordering to avoid a problem. The noise level, especially the too loud music made conversation difficult.
I felt your other restaurant in San Francisco “Rooh” was much better.
Highly recommended. Will be back.
