Food was good and the service as well. I would've like to have seen more options on the Sunday Brunch menu but all in all it was a lovely experience.
The lunch was lovely, but all of the food and drinks are extremely overpriced, so that lessened my experience at the restaurant.
The creme brulee french toast was delicious and the service was top notch.
It had options for vegetarians for almost each course. We were able to mix and match courses. Everything had great presentation and tasted delicious. It was not cheap but definitely something to experience once. Desserts were heavenly.
My party of four went to Lucienne before the opera. The restaurant was fantastic. Each of us did the tasting menu, opting for 4 of 6 courses. Each of the 6 courses from which you can choose have 3 options so you still retain some choice, which is not always the case with a tasting menu. All four of us raved about how well prepared, well presented and how absolutely tasty each one of our dishes was, and there were only overlaps between what each of us ordered. The service was exceptional. My spouse ordered the Alessandra cocktail, which I tasted and found to be extremely good. The other great thing for us, but not for the restaurant, was that we were the only diners in the restaurant from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Considering that the food and service were exceptional, the prices for the tasting menu very reasonable, the wine list had some nice bottles of wine which were fairly reasonably priced, and the Hotel Alessandra, in which Lucienne is situated on the second floor, is a very elegant hotel and well located in downtown Houston, we were all amazed that the restaurant was not filled on a Saturday evening because it should have been.
Slow service. Did not order food. Only 2 tables occupied when we arrived. Took several minutes before someone walked over then several more to get water. That is when we decided to leave.
We celebrated our anniversary at Lucienne. Superb service, excellent tasting menu, great wine pairings and attentive non-intrusive service.
No decent lunch options @ a 1:00PM seating on Saturday.
We came to Lucienne for my friends birthday party and were extremely disappointed. I recommended this restaurant after seeing it in the Houston Chrons top 100 restaurants and boy did we regret it. It's important to know that there was one 8 table top, and a few other 2 tops. Not busy at all. We had a reservation for 15 but were given 2 tables (which I said would be ok). We received our menus upon arriving and were recommended the tasting menu. Some people ordered it, some people didn't. I was one of the many that did not get it. I ordered the foie gras and lamb. It took an hour and a half to get the foie gras -
and another 30-40 minutes to get my entree. It doesn't end there though - I asked at the hour and a half mark why our food was taking so long and no one came back to explain or apologize. My whole table received their entree except one person. When she received her entree I was livid. Her plate was completely different than mine. It included one more side, potatoes, and additional vegetables. How can you plate the same entree completely different? I went up to the manager and expressed how disappointed I was in the experience and he asked was it the food or the service. I said both. He said well I'm sorry you weren't satisfied with our food, in terms of service and wait, we usually do a tasting menu and it takes a long time. Excuse me? I don't think it should take an hour and a half for the first course of my meal! We weren't even given a discount - not even the birthday girl. We were given free champagne but that didn't make up for anything because one side of the table was given a glass (not the side of the birthday girl) and the other side didn't get it until another 20 minutes. THEN we waited another 30 minutes for our check. Just know that after we left we went to Raising Canes and Wendys because we were still hungry.
Just GREAT. Thank you!
The food was good. The service was a bit slow but everyone was nice.
Chef Jose Hernández did it again!! The 6 course meal was awesome!! Very reasonable priced wines and incredible flavors throughout!!
The food is consistently good and the presentation is excellent. This is a new alternative business lunch spot for me with beautiful light so you don't feel cramped inside. Lovely.
I was in town for a one night stay at this amazing hotel. Decided to try the 6 course tasting menu. The food was spectacular. The staff were super courteous and beyond polite/accomadating. If I were to die and go to heaven and this was my last meal, my life would have been fulfilled. I recommend everyone try it if you like amazing food.
I loved how we were the only ones there. The wait staff was friendly and graciously gave us a delicious birthday dessert which was devoured in minutes. We will g back soon!
The space was quaint, quiet, and comfortable. I totally loved it!
Lovely classic French food and decor (with a modern twist)!
We went to celebrate my husbands birthday and it was empty on a Saturday night. Service great but food was ok- maybe a bit too adventurous for our taste. Tiny portions in tasting menu
Ended up making a reservation with Lucienne being we did the weekend dinner package with Hotel Alessandra for my wife’s birthday. The service was exceptional. Alavaro did a great job setting up the table for my wife’s birthday. And Domingo kept the bread coming which btw was delicious. Very fresh. We ended up doing the four course tasting menu. I wish we did the six course. We have to say that the food was very good, except the Beef Wellington was a little over cook but still good. The tuna martini was so so good and the lamb tartare was delicious. My wife had the rabbit which also was “muy rico”. The portions were just right. For dessert my wife had something that the chef made for her special occasion. I had the apple tart. 5 star. We also had breakfast there one morning which was just as good. We will be back again for the six course tasting menu next time we stay at the Alessandra
Thank you guys for making this the best birthday that my wife ever had. See you soon
Too bad the restaurant is not advertising/marketing enough. This is one of the best restaurants in Houston in terms of the quality of the food. While there at least three parties stopped by but there was no host to attend to them; thus they left. Lost business! I plan to eat more often for fear that it will close soon due to low volume of diners. Please, Lucienne owners, please, advertise and market more aggressively! Your chef’s talent and skills should not go to waste!!!
The food was great, but very slow service.
Wonderful service and even better food. Excellent experience.
Great food and fantastic service. I highly recommend Lucienne.
All the dishes were wonderful. Pricey but worth the money for the quality and service.
Went for brunch. Tuna tartare tasted fishy and past it’s prime (also grey in appearance). Lobster omelet was not very flavorful and the accompanying side was greasy. Overall, we were disappointed with the experience, as we like the bar and had reasonable expectations.
Everything was wonderful, food was amazing and staff was very helpful
I went for lunch again. This place is quickly becoming a favorite Downtown. I had the lobster bisque. Bread is amazing! I tried this time, though, to just have one. Service was quick; Kim is awesome. And they even let me ride in their Maserati back to work. (Not sure this is a normal perk but I'll take it.) Love this place!
I found the dining room an unusual combination of elegance ( pistachio green leather chairs and banquettes, lovely open space ) and early cafeteria ( utilitarian lighting and flooring, curtains that look like they were from TARGET.) Pity because the food was good.
Service was excellent. All the food was good with most items excellent.
Great value for a four or six course meal with several enticing options for each course. Also a very calming atmosphere with outstanding service. We will be back!
Good food, good service, good enviroment, quiet, comfortable. Very nice for business lunch meeting or date or enjoy with friends.
Outstanding food and service. A great evening.
Fabulously food, great house champagne!
This is one of the best gourmet meals in Houston. It is very reasonable for the quality, variety and presentation.
An undiscovered gem in the downtown area. We were celebrating an 80th birthday and with a reservation arrived at 7 p There were only 8 people there when we arrived...Service was prompt, menu was either tasting or a la carte, but the tasting menu was a bargain..had a wonderful evening with a great bottle of red wine, finishing with an unsolicited birthday cake for our honoree. Hope Houstonians catch on that this is fantastic food, in an unassuming new place.
Fantastic meal! This place is an unknown jem. We did the 6 course testing menu and the portions were a perfect size. One of the bedt French restaurants I've been to.
Why was this place not packed? Food and service were spectacular and price was a ridiculous bargain. One of my best Houston restaurant experiences in a long time. Kudos to Chef, kitchen and staff. I’ll be back soon.
Great place to enjoy a Sunday morning with family or friends. The food was absolutely scrumptious, and the service was wonderful. I definitely recommend!
Very quiet hidden gem. Excellent value tasting menu.
When Lucienne first opened it was quite interesting. No it offers food that I would expect at a Courtyard Marriott what happened and who decided to mess with the menu
