Fine Irish Restaurant. A menu with a good number of choices with generous, well made cocktails!! This wasn't the first last time we will go there. Our group gets together once a month and none of us live in the neighborhood but it is worth the drive!
I didn't think that burgers and fries would be a problem to make. But we waited for 45 minutes to get ours, and then the fries were undercooked, mushy and cold.
Almost 3 hours to complete the meal. The kitchen obviously had a problem which is what we were told. Meals not served together. 6 of us there. 4 of us got our meal and we waited but had to start so the food would get cold. We were almost finished by the time the other meals came. My burger which I wanted done medium was well done. My brother said his draft beer was flat. I had bottled. They did comp us a round of drinks and dessert. We 6 were family so we enjoyed our company for the nearly 3 hours so it did not seem as bad as it could have been. We always liked the St James in the past but this visit wzs disappointing.
This is truly the best fish restaurant in the triangle and made for fish lovers. Fish stew, black bass, and the red drum were all outstanding. The BBQ shrimp was also a delight along with a gem lettuce salad and fresh oysters. A wonderful wine selection is available for anyone's taste. A really nice feature is they only serve fish. Don't like fish? Don't go! The menu is not contaminated with steak or chicken. Let's hope they keep up the great kitchen work and fish selections. A true gem in Durham.
Staff great, especially the bartenders. Fun spot at bar with sports on tv. Food a disappointment since new ownership. Traditional burgers fine but other entrees less than special.
Best servers and food on Long Island - A must do on any foodies list
When we arrived they could not find our reservations ( made on open table) we were sat in a room that was very hot. Summer in NY A/C should be on. The macaroni and cheese tasted as if it was burned, waitress was told but left on the check.
Good food, many option, service terrific. Also some nice background acoustic music.
Good food at a good price. Service was a little slow, but that is usually not the case.
Nice local pub with food better than “pub food”. Good atmosphere. Service is very good.
Everything was amazing!! Service and food always on point. I love the St James!
Good food, well made drink and friendly service.
I normally love this place but today was hectic in there kind of turned me off
Love this place
Good pub food, good service, live music on Friday nights.
Food is amazing
Since it has been taken over by new owners now you don’t get soup or salad with entree. So my pot roast dinner with a salad cost about 26.00 which is a lot for a pub. And food wasn’t as good. Need a new chef
Ever was great from our waitress to the food this was our second visit in a month will definitely go back soon I believe our waitress was Callie she was wonderful
Everything was awesome. Service, food etc. def recommend this place.
It was somewhat busy but everything was ran well and punctual. Service was attentive and on point not one thing ordered was forgotten or wrong and the wings!!!! Probably the best wings and homemade blue cheese I’ve ever had, definitely will be back.
Overall everything was very good. Glad we had a reservation. Very crowded Saturday night. Foot was very good. Pleasant service
Good comfort food in the Irish Pub tradition. Well made and generous cocktails. My friends have started to meet there for lunch once a month and we all enjoy it.
My friends and I came to the St. James on a Saturday night to hear "The Wreckers", two very talented guys on guitar. Along with the great music, we were very pleased with the menu offerings, a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers and entrees. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and apologetic when a mistake was made with one order. It was a nice evening and I would recommend visiting the St. James, especially if The Wreckers are playing!
Friendly and professional service - our waitress read our minds and was at our table before we had to look fore her. Brunch choices are plentiful and the bloody Mary’s were delicious. Brunch is a great value. We will definitely return !
Reopened with new owners. Much brighter inside - many flat screens (and sports). Slightly revised menu (less choices, but still good). Friendly service. Crispy fries.
Delicious food, excellent and very accommodating service in an out of the way location. Can’t say enough nice things about the people here. Wish they had parking, but it’s worth the hassle.
been coming to the St James for many years and now they are on Open Table!
food is great - service is great - wings are great!
What a great meal!! They had an Oktoberfest menu, very yummy!! Service is always great, everyone is so friendly!
The St. James is a very nice restaurant. It's tucked away on a side street and is a neighborhood gem. The food is delicious and the staff is very attentive and pleasant.
Delicious! Would be nice if sangria was on the menu...but the wine was good and food was great
