Parkway: Social Kitchen
A Kansas City native who spent 10 years traveling with his family, he returned to Kansas City with an appreciation of all things close to home.
“Local is better because it’s always fresher,” Hammack says. “We get everything as close to Parkway as we can.”
With a little kitchen warmed by a traditional wood-burning oven, Hammack says there’s no room for anything but the highest-quality, freshest ingredients. Hammack maintains a steadfast attention to detail and a commitment to fresh and locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. Everything at Parkway Social Kitchen is made from scratch daily.
A meal at Parkway isn’t going to be some tiny, fanciful dish with ingredients you can’t pronounce. Hammack makes familiar food that’s honest, down to earth and perfectly executed.

Nice food menu & lots of good drink choices. We ordered turkey sandwich with brie, which turned out to be a cold sandwich and it was good but on a cold night, would have been nice to be warm like a panini with melted brie.
Great new addition to the Country Club Plaza. Food was top-notch. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great.
Great service! Preston (our waiter) was super attentive. The prime rib tacos were amazing and the mojito was too!
I suggested Social Kitchen as a spot for a lunch with a business associate. Having heard good things about the food, and the chef, I was excited to try this fairly new spot on the Plaza. Our service was great. I wish I could remember the gentleman's name so I could give him a shout out here. The food was also great. Ahi tuna. Fried chicken salad. All tasty. It was rather quiet and fairly empty for the lunch hour. And it was so chilly inside that my associate did not take off her coat for lunch. But overall, a good lunch choice. I'm sure I will go back again.
Great service and cool atmosphere! Food was unique and overall awesome!
Took friends here for a birthday. There are a lot of choices on the plaza and we were pleasantly surprised by this gem we didn’t know existed. We all bad something different and it all was great food. One had the fillet which was wonderful! One had prime rib tacos which were also great. A third had the gourmet Mac and cheese which also was quite tasty and I had the pork chop with sweet potatoes that was scrumptious. We shared the tatie tot appetizer that are WAY better than any tator tot you’ve ever experienced. Our only complaint was the Cosmopolitan and Sangria seemed to be missing a punch to the taste. Overall great dining experience!
We asked to be seated outside as it was an absolutely beautiful fall day & really enjoyed it. Will definitely return next time we're in Kansas City.
The food was decent, but nothing special and the red sangria tasted like sour wine. My waiter was nice enough to swap it out for something different, but still probably won’t go back with so many other options around.
Food and service was very good, but music was way too loud. Asked to turn it down and they did do that for a little bit, then turned it back up again. Our friends, who had not been there before, said they would not go there again due to the volume of the music. A bit on the pricy side as well for dinner.
First visit. Food was good. Best part was the live music in the basement. Fun night with friends, dinner and live music.
We were seated by the open windows on a lovely evening, and my shrimp with lime cilantro rice was amazing. My husband had the spareribs, and he raves about them as well.
Wonderful place to dine!
Food and service was average. Burger had no flavor and fries were underwhelming. Ordered a Moscow Mule, but they don't have copper mugs. The Mule and the Mojito were poorly made.
We had a lovely evening out without the kiddos. The hostess was less than friendly and the food has been better. I ordered the Ribeye which was delicious but the sides did not taste fresh.
Food was very good. Waiter was fantastic
Our meal was great (food, service, atmosphere and cost) and the bar atmosphere with live music downstairs was a great way to cap off the night. The next time we come back to KC, we will return to Parkway: Social Kitchen for sure!
Good food but not yet equal to a Houston's level type quality.
Food was good. Service was terrible. We had to wait for our reservation, didn’t get silverware, server spilled water all over the table, was never asked if we wanted drinks, and we hardly got checked on. We do not plan to head back soon.
Pricy lunch for a sandwich and fries but very good (Prime Sandwich).
Went here for a work lunch and the food was fabulous. Portions were big and satisfying. Loved it.
The atmosphere was nice, but the food was very average. Nice place for drinks and live entertainment though!
Great service. Good food.
Lovely restaurant addition to the Plaza on a prime corner. The serving sizes are ample, and the open windows looking out across Ward Parkway were lovely when we were there. Pork chop and the lime cilantro shrimp were delicious. Now. . . If Managament could only train wait staff not to ask, “Are you still working on that?”
Loved the red velvet booth they sat us in. We were able to hear the wonderful live music but felt like we were in our own little world and had no problem hearing each other. Food was also great.
Nice contemporary venue. The food was a bit expensive and a bit average.
The service was spectacular and the food was delicious. This was our second time at Parkway, and it just emphasized how much we enjoy it.
Tried this for Anne's birthday. Very good food, brought out quickly, and fairly attentive service, but rather pricey. Might come back here for other special occasions.
A menu and atmosphere that calls to mind one of our favorite places( now closed) on the Plaza. If you liked Houston's, this is your place. Service still needs a bit of polish but all in all, very enjoyable. Great ribeye, equally good pork chop (huge!), appetizers, sides and cocktails all fantastic.
I believe this place is new and has a few kinks to work out.
There was no host when we arrived, so about 8 people were standing around waiting to be seated.
The food is good but overpriced and service was slow. My friend ordered the filet, rare. The waitress came by after about 20 minutes to say the filet takes a long time to cook. It was served medium well, so he sent it back. The next one came out purple. This is not what we would expect for a $45 steak, and the waitress only gave him a butter knife. My cilantro lime shrimp was very tasty and cooked well.
Beware that the prices displayed on the website are lower than the actual menu prices.
This review would be a 5 had the service been adequate and friendly. We felt like we were a burden on the waitress.
The food is just OK.......not great. Nothing really special or memorable. Side dishes disappointing.
Like the open air windows ...and the lower level is nice for after dinner drink. If it weren’t in the Plaza we wouldn’t return. This was our second time there.
Food was very mediocre. Bar couldn’t get the drink order right. Very boring menu .
Our server was wonderful (Jeff, I believe). He was so passionate about the menu and gave great suggestions!
This was my first time at Parkway Social Kitchen, and it was great! We went for happy hour and had wine and some appetizers. The tater tots were so good, they are huge and stuffed with cheese... how can you go wrong there?! The spinach dip was also good. We had the hummus as well, and it wasn't anything special. We were well taken care of by our server.
Had not been since the space was Coal Vines and love the new floor plan and menu. Great, accommodating staff and so kind! Perfect finale to my birthday 'day'!
This was my first time there for dinner I had been there two other occasions for lunch with vendors.
I have recently retired and met a long time friend there for dinner to celebrate my retirement.
She had never been there and she thoroughly enjoyed the evening!
We had a small table along the west side it was cool enough outside that the windows were open and there was enough of a breeze that the bugs weren't coming in and the inside air conditioning made the temperature just pleasant.
We sat and visited over a couple of drinks and then had a wonderful dinner.
The food was excellent the service was very good in the atmosphere was perfect for what we wanted.
Recently visited Parkway for the 1st time. Our table was on time, the atmosphere was great, mixed drinks were well done, wine list was good and the food was excellent. Going back again soon and have already recommended it to others!
Drinks and atmosphere were amazing. Food was lack luster and arrived at the table lukewarm.
Really nice waiter and great food
Server Rachel was very responsive . A good server. The Kitchen however was backed up slowing everything. Rachel did a really good job of taking care of us in spit of the kitchen slowdown.
Cornbread skillet appetizer was good as well as my wifes chicken dish.
The steak I had was good but overdone.
