   Would it be so difficult for restaurants to dampen the noise level? No soft surfaces anywhere, so sound is amplified to a ridiculous level. This is the 2nd time this week I have had a negative review of a restaurant that has VERY GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE. Dining out should be a pleasure, not an ordeal.

   We sat for at least 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Was able to order cocktails which were great. Appetizers followed that were exceptional... Black Truffle Arancini & Spicy Salmon Tartare. And after asking for bread/butter twice like every other table around us it was finally brought out. From there it quickly went downhill. We ordered The Smith Bar Steak and Braised Short Rib Mafaldine which was highly recommended by our server. The Smith Bar Steak was terrific... cooked well and tasty. A real bargain considering the price. The Braised Short Rib Mafaldine was easily one of the worst if not the worst pasta dish I've ever had anywhere. A bowl of mushy overcooked broken pieces of pasta with perhaps 2 little chunks of short rib all crying out for seasoning desperately needing salt. Again... a tasteless bowl of mushy overcooked pasta challenging us to search for a morsel of braised short rib. My only regret aside from ordering this horrendous bowl of pasta was that I didn't return it. I should have. Shame on any cook who not only prepared this but allowed it to leave the kitchen. Simply put the pasta was far more appetizing in print than what showed up on the table.

   Burgers are “great.” The waitress was exceptional as well as very kind. Noise level is exceptionally high as acoustics are very poor. Overall a great pre-show venue!!

   It used to be my favorite place to go. The food isn't great as it used to be. Vegetable burger tasted so alllright! but nice place to get away from all and still being in the center of NYC .

   We had another excellent dinner at The Smith Lincoln Center. The restaurant is across from Lincoln Center, making it easy to have a preOpera meal. Service is great, food selection very varied and delicious. We recommend it highly.

   If you want to have a conversation this place is not for you. Noise bounces off the tile walls and you cannot hear one another even if yelling. Maybe outdoors is better?? Too bad as the food was quite good and not too pricey.

   Nice menu section. We selected the Brick Chicken over mashed potatoes and spinach and Three Lettuce Salad with Shrimp. Well prepared and attractively presented. Followed with the new ice cream sundae with expresso whipped cream.

    As always, delicious and fun! Food was yummy, service was prompt without being overbearing. The Smith is always loud, but energetic. We had a great time!!
