Mondello Ristorante Italiano
Mondello has beautiful pasta dishes, seafood & main courses, salads, zuppe & bruschette & antipasti dishes. Corino (owner) & Enza (chef) grew up in the vicinity of Mondello and they bring to Seattle their wonderful tradition of fresh seafood, homemade pasta & rich authentic Sicilian cuisine with all it's flair & joy of living.
They have the life experience of fine cooking and appreciation & sensiblity of the Italian palate that allows them to create a dining experience reminiscent of being in Mondello, Sicily.
No one fails to be entranced by Mondello's welcoming beauty and warm personality.
Dinner: Sunday - Thursday: 5:00pm - 9:30pm, Friday - Saturday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
What a gem! This is the best Italian I've had in Seattle and the best Italian I've had since living in Italy. The lasagna and bolognese were to die for! Great wine list. Affogato was such a treat! It's not "Italian with a PNW twist" like so many places in Seattle try to do. Just authentic Italian dishes done impeccably well. We loved our experience here! It is super cozy and family owned. Magnolia is full of hidden gems and this might just top the list. We're so excited to have a true Italian spot in our neighborhood.
This is my new favorite Italian restaurant. The staff is warm and friendly and the food is excellent.
Well our Hostess / waitress was lovely. We went in the afternoon on a weekday. My friend had the Gorgonzola gnocchi which was pretty much cream mixed with gorgonzola over not too bad gnocchi but super plain no garlic or salt or Pepper or spice of any kind.. I got carbonara, the eggs were scrambled and the pasta was firm, too firm for my liking. The pancetta was tough. The price would have been fine if the food was amazing but it felt like a complete rip-off.
Food and service were very good. BUT the people next our table were so obnoxiously loud that we tcould not comfortably converse at our table. One person in particular had such a screeching loud voice that we had to stop our conversation until she was done with it. It made the nice dinner with our friends a not-so-nice gathering. Too bad!
There is no such thing as a bad meal at Mondello. Service is personal and the food is brilliant. Real Italian food in the USA is hard to find, especially perfectly al dente pasta. If you’re in Seattle, Uber out to discover Mondello and Magnolia village. It’s well worth it.
Great place. The only thing I would add would be outside night lighting of the Mondello sign.
The 4 of us go to a movie & an Italian restaurant almost monthly. We’ve been to over 70 restaurants in Seattle alone. You’ve heard the saying, “where’s the beef?” I ordered the veal scallopini & I said, “where’s the veal?” There was a very small, very thin piece of veal overladen with prosciutto which made it look like it was a substantial piece of veal. It wasn’t. Two ordered the lasagna which both said wasn’t very good. The special was a cod dish which was ok.
After the appetizers & after they delivered the main dishes we needed to ask for silverware & my husband drank my water since no one came to refill our water glasses.
It’s a small neighborhood restaurant so it’s noisy too. There’s so many great Italian rrestaurants in Seattle. Unfortunately, the four of us ranked Mondello the least favorite of all the Italian restaurants we’ve been to.
The halibut was outstanding!!!
The family who runs the restaurant ar excellent hosts. Feels like we are eating in Italy.
always great service, friendly and delicious dinners YUM!!!!
Very authentic Italian food, very rare in Seattle (and I was born and grew up in Italy).
The food was delicious And the service was exceptional
Try to have this on our list five or so times a year. Always delivers. Staff is very friendly, helpful and on the spot. The specials usually do not disappoint.
Mondello always delivers high quality, authentic wonderful Italian food - if you haven't been: Go now!
We absolutely love this wonderful neighborhood restaurant! Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Each time we have been here we have tried something new and they are all great. We highly recommend this family owned restaurant where you will find it is a family affair. Great for a casual dinner, anniversary or family night out!
A favorite of mine in Magnolia where the service and good are always excellent. Tonight's morel mushroom special was amazing.
The squid ink pasta with shrimp was delicious.
Excellent event!!! It was great meeting the wine maker. It was also fun to sit in the family style arrangement --- and to meet other guests.
Went here once a long time ago and forgot about it until recently, will definitely be back soon and often. The food was delicious and ambiance lovely.
As usual, Mondello's food was awesome. Our party had the carbonara, lasagna, and saltimbaco (sp) and everyone practically licked their plate. Our waitperson was lovely and helpful - offering wine samples before ordering the glass. I just returned from Italy and Mondello had better fare than anything I had there. Nice!
Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere with great service
Small, family owned, intimate and VERY much like being back in Italy! Try the Carbonara!
Lovely staff, lovely restaurant, great wine, amazing pasta.
Everything was amazing. Food was perfect. Wine selection amazing. It was a great place for a date.
Outstanding food, simple yet flavorful.
Mondello never disappoints...such a great cozy neighborhood find.
I always love going to Mondello's, excellent food, great service, and relaxing atmosphere.
Beautiful food, great service!
We were looking for some authentic Italian food, but in the end we found the food to be quite disappointing. Apparently the regular chef was off - and maybe that impacted the food. But it was not great.
The major issue was the waitress who was curt and made us feel rushed at every turn.
This is on our neighborhood. It is our go to favorite, always count on it for a good meal place in Magnolia
Great long-time neighborhood gem. Small cozy restaurant serving very good food. Wait staff was jovial and interactive. Some misses on the entrees and apps, but overall the group liked the food. Desserts were excellent. Pretty deep Italian wine list. Can be a bit cramped for larger groups. Lots of free street parking in the evening. Worth the drive and will be going back.
Was our first time there and we’ll definitely be going back!
delicious!! table not available at our reservation time, so had to wait awhile, but yummy dinner worth the wait
Another perfect meal at Mondello. Service is friendly, quick and knowledgeable. Food is delicious, interesting and generous portions of authentic Italian Italian (not American Italian) along with a great selection of Italian wines. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Our go-to Italian restaurant and a bargain given that it doesn’t charge downtown prices.
Mondellos is the best Italian restaurant in Seattle. Authentic Italian food, handcrafted pasta, fresh ingredients, and a wonderful wine list with reasonable prices. I've not eaten Italian food this good since I last went to Italy! Bravo Mondellos!!
Great food. Engaging service. Ventilation system needs some work with the semi open kitchen.
This is my favorite Italian cafe in Seattle. Nothing against trendier spots like Spinasse/Artusi or Barolo/Cinque Terre, but this is a family-run neighborhood spot with authentic Sicilian fare prepared by a real Sicilian grandmother. There's no better lasagna in Seattle. The wine list is reasonably priced, the food is always fresh and tasty. And did I mention the lasagna?
Mondello is a romantic authentic Italian restaurant. The owners are from Sicily, the italian food very homemade and traditional with some nice touches. My favorite meat dish is the Carttocio. They have amazing appetizers - you must try the Bresaola. And the wine list is second to none when it comes to fine Italians. We had a bottle of Brunello, selected by the owner Corrino - which also came with the story how how he served the same wine at his wedding. I took a date here and we had a magical time. * Stars all the way.
