The Omakase experience was amazing! High quality fish & sushi. I have the seven course + dessert though I was tempted to get the 11, but I was delicious & filling!

Simply good food: not an everyday destination due to the price but worth the splurge for a special occasion. Service was solid thanks to Barry and the attention to detail was spot on. Will definitely be returning.

It is a wonderful fine dining experience. It is expensive so it’s a place for those prepared to pay for an experience. The service is great! The food is melt in your mouth out of this world fantastic. This is our special even restaurant. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations!

What a special experience. We came down from Boston for an art show and a special trip so we didn't want to leave without booking a memorable meal. I did considerable research beforehand since we had never been to Pittsburgh and were only in town for one evening and had driven 11 hours. I cross referenced Google reviews, Yelp, and Reddit and reached the consensus that we could not go wrong with Umi and boy were we right. It was an incredibly memorable meal with exciting, fresh flavors and gorgeously cut fish that just seemed to melt in your mouth. Each course was better than the last. Our waiter perfectly paced the evening and was incredibly knowledgeable about the food in addition to being sensitive and accommodating toward food allergies. We are so grateful we chose Umi for our special trip. With Mr. Shu and staff, you are in good hands.

I took my son and his wife out for his birthday dinner to Umi. We ordered the seven-course Omikase dinner (it comes with an eighth dessert course). Every single course was a delicious and beautifully presented sashimi or sushi. Enough food, but not too much. We all had a cocktail and a glass of wine or beer with our meals. A fun and enjoyable experience. The service was excellent. My only knock is the price - our total bill for our three people was $460, and that is before adding a $120 tip.
