our first time with a family of 5. The ambiance was classic old school Italian . Service was superior & our waiter was fun and helpful. We ordered family style and had the perfect amount of food. Nothing fancy but good solid quality food. Standouts we're baked clams, minestrone, veal parm & artichokes. If you closed your eyes you'd think you were at Aunt Lena's house & not the heart of West Village

This restaurant is a gem in the Village! It has been around for many years but I visited it for the first time following a movie at the Angelika. The food and service was fantastic and I can't wait to go back!

What a disappointment! We hadn’t been to the restaurant for a really long time. However, it was a place we used to frequent when I was a kid. I alway remembered the food to be great and after reading the reviews we decided to give it a try again. We were a table of 9. It was my parents and my now grown children. My mother is handicapped now so we were pleased to be put in the back room. It was away from the crowded front rooms. The waiter filled our water glasses but when we asked for more ice. He told us the ice in the glasses melded and what did we need more ice for. Definitely a strange start. We all ordered appetizers, baked clams, eggplant rollatini, Caesar salads and a pasta dish. Nothing was great and we felt the portions were somewhat small. The mains were basically just fair at best. My husband ordered a side pasta with garlic and oil and it was really only a plate of bad flavored oil. Certainly nothing like one would expect from a old world Italian restaurant. My chicken parm was tasteless too. Very disappointing. We waited a very long time for the main dishes to come out so I’m assuming the kitchen staff might not have been able to keep up. My daughter asked if they could make baked ziti while the waiter was able to accommodate her the ziti dish was inedible. It was a plate of pasta with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. It’s was such a utter disaster for all of us. My son-in-law asked for additional vodka sauce for his dish and the waiter was down right rude. Reluctantly, bring him more. It truly surprised me how many other reviews did give it such a great rating. Overall, the meal was not great and I’m sad to say we will not be coming back.

First visit since 35 years ago. Little disappointed with the limited menu but then the pendemic is over and if they did not recover of losing staff. Then they have to work harder perhaps more incentive to attract young and creative kitchen staff.

After all these years, Villa Mosconi is still a wonderful place for a traditional Italian meal. The staff are caring and most have been there a long time. Our waiter remembered one of my friends who hadn't been there since before the pandemic! It has a family atmosphere that is very comfortable.

An old favorite. Been coming here for over 25 years. Had to take the last two years off due to the pandemic but got back home on Christmas Eve and all the memories came back. Great appetizers including baked clams and fried calamari, Along with oysters Rockefeller and artichoke hearts oreganata. Pastas are always special here with shrimp oregananata over linguine, linguini with white clam sauce and the stuffed real chop Valdostana. Not too many restaurants still serve tortoni in the paper cup and for me it's the best dessert topper over an Italian meal. Wine was terrific with Gavi white and espresso is piping hot. The best of all there is Carl who is so much more than a waiter, more like a member of your family at the table making sure that everybody is well fed and having the best possible holiday dinner. So glad we came back after this hiatus and will not wait very long before returning.

lovely meal, nice servers. restaurant caters to groups, at least on our night, and a party of 13 arrived as we were funishung our mains. They were "pre-loaded" not the restaurant's fault, and the noise made it impossuble for our table of 6 to speak. The host kindly let us move to another room so we could have desert and coffee and enjoy the rest of a great night. everyone was happy!

Have been there many times pre-COVID and the food was always delicious. This time, visited on Dec 9th at 9:15 pm. We ordered the special of the day, Osso Bucco with risotto and the Chicken bolognese. The Osso Bucco was very salty, you could not taste any other flavor except for the salt. The chicken bolognese was a chicken breast with prosciutto and cheese. The chicken itself had no flavor. Even using the sauce and eating it all together with the prosciutto and cheese it was still very bland. The service was also lacking. We had to ask for the daily specials. We had to ask for the sides for the entrees. Just not like it was before. I will not be recommending anymore.
