Service was a bit frenetic with our server. Nice fellow, but seemed a bit preoccupied with a bigger party next to us. Food was wonderful as always. Got to say though, their taco shells are not good, hard and chewy. They need to change that, it's why I won't get them. The Pork Chop was fantastic and a nice big piece of salmon on my friend's Caesar salad. All in all, it's a great place to be.
Oysters, seafood, etc. all very good. Cocktails and excellent wines - incl. the ones on special. Crab Mac & Cheese was a hit. That said, the steak is consistently over-cooked here. At least one full step, if not two beyond what you order (i.e. medium is medium-well to well, medium rare will be about medium).
Great food and they accommodated our various food issues. Brian, our server, was attentive and responsive. Will definitely go there again!
Chose this place originally due to location relative to Circe De’ Solei Vota show we were coming from Tacoma to see. Not quite the ambiance I hoped for, but the Service more than made up for it! Oysters selection was just Great including Hama Hama oysters the best in the NW!
Service was really top shelp and food was quite good! The Smoked pork chop was excellent.
I’d definitely choose this destination again.
Convenient location for being out. Food was good but steep pricing for what you get.
Very disappointed. We have been going there for years. Significant decrease in portion size and quality. Food was delivered cold and salad portion size was about half less than compared to same dish 2 months ago. We don’t plan to return.
I love this place. He had risotto with seard scallops.
I had the seafood chowder which is die for
Took over and hour to get our food and our waiter disappeared when he gave us the check so we had to find someone else to pay so we could leave.
The wait staff seemed understaffed and disorganized on the day we were there. Two of the three entrees arrived cold. They offered to remake the one but then charged us for it. It took another 15 minutes to sort out the bill.
We enjoyed a very nice tasty meal before seeing the Cirque du Soleil show. The appetizer special was especially tasty and much appreciated. Dining room was bustling on a Wednesday evening and a bit on the louder side, but not so loud as to be problematic. Quality food and good service despite it being the first day with a new computer system as the waiter informed us.
Food is good as always, and our hostess is amazing. Very comfortable environment, good big or small group
Matt's lived up to the name "Oyster Lounge" with exceptional fresh and delightful oyster dishes. The service was great and the drinks perfect.
meh. overpriced mediocre food. definitely a let-down
There just is not good overall quality dining in the city of Redmond. Matt's is above average, but in a not so great field of options.
The waiter was very inattentive. Actuality worked hard to avoid checking on tables. We witnessed him standing in corners talking and drinking soda. Received a warmish entree that had been sitting under the lights along with many other entrees before we got our appetizer. We only got the appetizer because we asked the woman, (who wasn't our waiter), who brought our entree where the appetizer was. When our waiter came with the appetizer he blamed the fact we hadn't received it on the oyster bar. My coffee cup was only refilled once because I had to ask.
My husband and I did not enjoy this visit as much as we have before. There were two young people, checking reservations and seating people, who acted completely stressed out. At 5:15 pm! They tried to seat us in the bar. When I requested a booth, I was told it was only for those who had made reservations. When I repeated that we had reservations, we were seated in the least nice booth in the entire restaurant, at the very front, with cold air blowing in from the door. Pros were the waiter service and interesting wine list. However, there were only a very few seafood selections on the menu. I had the salmon special. The fish was delicious, with a wonderful grilled taste. The squash it was served with was extremely bland, like baby food. My husband, disappointed with the few seafood selections, had beef tips in a stroganoff. The beef and mushrooms were good, but he did not care for the noodles drenched in oily gravy. Overall, a very mediocre experience especially for the high price. If we travel up from Tacoma to Redmond for a show again, we will try another place.
We were a group of eight with one waitress and he seemed rather overwhelmed. We had asked for things repeatedly and call her back several times which forgot to take the order of other people at the table. The food was very delicious and very creative but it would’ve been nice to get her appetizers and our main meal separate. we actually ordered them separate to make sure that we wouldn’t get them all together but everything arrived at once; which led to a very cluttered table. we had to call them over to try to get empty dishes removed Which also took several attempts. Thankfully the food was amazing!
Matts is the best...the service and food cant be beat. I love their seafood chowder. My son had a great prime rib
Food and service was great! I had the spinach salad with added chicken. Delicious!
Meal was good. I had the halibut fish tacos. Inside was good, outside tougher than expected. Would have preferred either a crispy corn tortilla (not tough) or three small flour tortillas. Scallops and Risotto were good as was the prime rib dip.
Although the service was exceptional because of our large group, yet the food was really lacking....kids burgers were sliders and not what was said. Chicken added to the wedge salad very dry. Meatloaf definitely over cooked and clams were in a lack luster sauce. Sorry to say we won’t be back.
We love Matt's and went there on Saturday night for our anniversary. The dinner was delicious as always, including the sea scallop risotto and the beef short rib stroganoff. We got a free dessert for our anniversary too. The restaurant was very crowded because of a Saturday night and the wait staff was a little short handed but we still enjoyed our meal and our waiter, Brian, was good. We even got an extra dessert.
Matt's is consistent, their menu doesn't change much and the food is good so we are ok with that. It is a little loud so not the "perfect" date place but it sure beats BJ's in the same parking lot. Good wine by the glass list, good food - very good for work lunches. Service there is always very good.
Busy place on the weekends but service is outstanding. The food was delicious... Especially the tomato, basil and buratta cheese plate. Great wine list too!
This is an awesome place. All food is great and the seafood chowder is to die for. I come here every chance i can.
We’ve been to Matt’s many times and it’s always been good but the food quality was not as good as usual this time. We ordered the calamari, which is normally a generous serving with two types of dipping sauces. The order came and it was pathetic. No discernible pieces of calamari - just a very small serving of crumbs with a lot of peppers and only one sauce. We complained (twice) so they agreed to bring another order - which was just as bad as the first order. We sent that back too and were told that both orders would be removed from the bill. When we got the bill they had only removed one order so we had to ask to have the second one removed. The fish tacos were pretty good but not as good as in the past. Finally, I got an email from Open Table saying I had missed my reservation, which was not true. Kind of interesting given we had complained about the food. We’ll assume they were having a bad night and will give them another chance but it certainly was disappointing.
though the noise level was a little high we were seated in a booth that was better than being in the middle of the room. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable though surprised that we had to asked for refills on coffee. The food was good and portions were not too generous or too small. If we happen to be in Redmond we would feel comfortable going there again.
Great food! Had the crab and artichoke dip and the tiger prawn scampi, loved it! Server was very nice and helpful! Definitely recommend trying for yourself!
We went their for my birthday and the food was terrible!! We had the prime rib and it was the worst I have ever had
Happy hour was great! Large HH menu and great drinks. Will definitely go back!
Food is great and the portions are generous. The halibut was excellent as it is every year. Our waitress was exceptionally good
I had the flat iron steak salad ordered medium. The streak was so rare. I couldn't eat it. My wife ordered the grilled chicken with a salad. She got her salad but no chicken on it. I'll never go back.
Halibut fish and chips was over breaded and overcooked. Halibut entree was not well prepared.
Great place for a causal get together with friends. Our server was wonderful and accommodating as we ordered oysters and other appetizers at staggered times, finishing off with salads instead of individual meals. (And then ordered dessert of course!) Timing of the food was great!
We waited a very long time to have waiter come the first time. And quite long in between visits as well. Restaurant was NOT busy - in fact, it looked to be about 35-40% full. A lot of empty tables-so we were doubly surprised wait staff was inattentive. My husband and I both had Prime Rib. Both pieces were quite tough. We were NOT fans of the odd butter-horseradish that it was served with. (85% butter, very little horseradish.) Who puts butter on a lukewarm piece of prime rib? We live in Redmond, but the past couple of dining experiences we've had at Matt's left us feeling quite blah about returning. (We've been going to Matt's for more than 10 years. Nowhere near the quality it was even a couple of years ago.)
Clams were very sandy. Our server replaced with a different dish.
No bread was brought after it was offered, Ice tea refills were brought with no ice and the tea was warm. We ordered appetizers and they did come in a timely manner but the salads and the entree's came all out together after we had asked them to come out separately. This was our first time at this restaurant and we were celebrating our 38th anniversary. Needless to say we were disappointed.
Food and service were both excellent.
Great, as always.
Always enjoy Matts. Love that there are always fresh oysters.
The last couple times we've been here the service has gone down hill a bit - I can understand when service is slow when a restaurant is busy, however both times we've been in, it hasn't been very busy yet the service was very slow. The visit we had before this our server recognized and acknowledged the slow service from the kitchen and compensated us for this, we really appreciated that. This time it was like we were being ignored - slow to fill waters, slow food service, etc. and it wasn't addressed at all. We were celebrating our anniversary so I didn't want to bring it up or cause a scene mentioning it.
That said we still LOVE this restaurant, we love that it is great food and an atmosphere where we are comfortable going for a date or going with our two young boys.
