Open daily for lunch and dinner, Bar Moruno has plenty of options for a quick grab-n-go meal, a business lunch or a cozy dinner. The fan favorite menu items include the rotisserie lamb leg Submoruno sandwich with red onion, pepperoncini and mint or the Marys chicken thigh Morunobowl with garlic, onion, chili and cilantro.

Moruno gets points for a unique menu and good ambiance. However, the limited drink menu and having signature cocktails made in large batches only, was a drawback. The food was a bit dissapointing, particularly the pork shoulder. The tuna steak was good and prepared perfectly. Friendly and attentive service without being invasive.

I don't understand how this is a Spanish North African restaurant. The flavours were bland and the dishes were overly complicated: not highlighting any particularly N. African or Spanish flavour. The dishes were too salty, complicated and mucky. Too much going on in one dish. The vegetarian options were scant and the only true vegetarian dish (lentils & rice) was tasteless, but for the fried onions on top. The butternut squash was as hard as a rock - undercooked would be an understatement - and the dhukka was more like nut brittle. Subtlety is not this restaurants forte. The food was mixed up, mushy and didn't seem fresh for the abundance of fresh produce LA has to offer. After returning to the states from some of the best Mediterranean & middles eastern restaurants - I was incredibly disappointed.

This is a small plates, sharing kind of place. The food was fantastic but the pacing seemed rushed. We ordered six small plates and one large one and all the food came at once. It would have been better if the service was a little more leisurely. Even our cocktails came out after the food was served.

Great food in a place with a great vibe. Downside is that my wife ate half my octopus salad. The special ravioli had dough that was a bit too thick, but that was the only wrong note the entire meal. And if you judge an Italian place by its meatballs, these are very, very good meatballs.

Slightly slow service. Restaurant was empty upon arrival at 2pm. Took a bit for someone to greet us at the table. Love the ambiance and decor! The butternut squash is amazing but the portion size could potentially be cut in half for the same price....? For 2 people, we could barely get through half. We felt bad wasting it. Overall, excited to see where and how this restaurant does!!

On a weekend away in LA, saw this restaurant recommended online. We loved the food. Our only disappointment is that they aren't based in the SF Bay Area so that we could eat here more often.

Really enjoyed this! The food which is all Spanish tapas was just delicious. Everything we tried was really wonderful. Great tastes! Service was excellent...and the wine and beer list is great too! The restaurant is on the small side...and it's all mainly outdoors...but it was really lovely! Can't wait to go again! Highly recommended!

What a find this place is. It was recommended on Food Talk Central message board. I love Spanish tapas, and this place has "tapas-like" food. We loved the butternut squash, the squid stuffed with squid, the radicchio salad. The gunpowder fries that everybody touts were not as crisp as we would have liked; it was actually our least favorite dish. Very pleasant service and had a nice talk with the owner about the menu and his background. It's obvious he's a very experienced guy who knows how to please your casual neighborhood crowd looking for something different. If I lived in the neighborhood would probably eat there frequently.

Great ambiance and friendly service and very good cocktails. We were very disappointed with the food. My partner's pork shoulder was just okay. He didn't feel the pork was very good quality and there was quite a bit left over and wasted. Also very disappointing was the artichokes and mushrooms. I had the tuna which was very good. I had a swordfish dish which was deep fried and was horrible. I didn't even recognize it was swordfish. I would be curious to try the roasted chicken and the whole fish which we didn't order . I would go back and try the whole fish and the roasted chicken but my partner refuses to go back.

Lamb sandwich: meat is dry & flavorless Fermented veggie is only salty but no taste Albacore ceviche: fish part is really fishy and not fresh at all. The worst ceviche I've ever had! Over all your food quality is very poor by fact. I don't see the reason to go back no more.

Great food and tapas. We started with Vermouth, had wine with our tapas and ended with Sherry. Not traditional Spanish cuisine, but quite expressive, creative and quite good. Artichokes that were shaved down to small pieces, half grilled chicken, chocolate tart with shaved halavah. A great experience.

High hopes, but not a fan! Loud inside, meh decor, view of the parking lot with 4 star prices. The food was bland and we had a really lousy waiter. You could not hear him and his attention was abysmal. To cap of the date, he brought the wrong dessert, then never brought a dessert for 20 minutes... finally we told him we just wanted the bill, then he ignored that and told us he would bring dessert and finally without bringing dessert, just brought the bill 10 minutes later telling us he wouldn't charge for a dessert (of course you won't, we never had a dessert!). Thanks for ruining my date. Oh and he didn't mention that the restaurant validates. Worse $140 I've spent in while.

Top-notch service, amazing flavors, and everything was cooked to perfection. We had the quarter chicken, squash in a country cheese with roasted almonds, and a bright, fresh salad of cucumbers, root vegetables and tomatoes. What a great find. It's near the road so thee is some noise but it didn't bother us. Tip: if the sun is setting, find a spot in the shade.

We were greeted and lead to a very nice upstairs space. We were not sure of what to expect from this Southern Spain/North African influenced restaurant named after the style of seasoning/cooking meats over an open fire, but we came away impressed by the breadth of the menu. The wine list is superb and if you go here, you must try their in-house Vermina--which is a smooth apertif or just drinking wine that truly represents what vermouth you can find at your local Liquor Barn. It's fantastic. The vegetarian dishes are excellent and the morunos themselves, which are essentially rice bowls, are terrific. I can't review the take-out or sandwich side of the menu, but if they're anywhere this good, I would definitely try them on my next visit. The service is attentive and very professional without being hovering. Just make a reservation!

Outstanding food, we got 6 dishes to share and every one was superb. The butternut squash was roasted perfectly, with a light honey dressing and toasted sesame seeds. Wow, just awesome. The pork shoulder was perfectly cooked, and the accompanying greens were flavorful without being bitter, slightly salty which actually was needed and brought out the flavors in the meat. The lamb skewers were perfectly grilled as well, tender and not gamey. All around an excellent meal, wish we had room for dessert! Next time for sure, we are definitely going back.

The food was average with one tasty exception: The butternut squash. Also enjoyed the vermouth on tap. Service deathly slow and indifferent. Our waitress was sweet but inexplicably disappeared for lengthy periods. I can tolerate attitude at "hot" spots, but here the unsmiling manager and hostess left me baffled. Toss in the horrendous parking and really what's the point?

I really wanted to like this restaurant b/c I want to support a chef that is using wonderful ingredients in an atypical way and encourage innovation. The service was really good so I hope the chef finds his groove and the place succeeds. We had a drink (Montoya) which I wouldn't order again. Flavors were muddy so only remember the effervescence. He had craft beer he liked. I had great glass of red wine that the server recommended. We ordered the skewers and I thought they were a bit over cooked. He liked the chicken best. The cabbage was ok. The baby eggplant was a big disappointment. Too much going on and nothing shone thru. The squid was good but again need something to punch it up. Nothing was bad and I think the place has potential but not there yet.

Moruno is a unique southern Spanish/California tapas hybrid that we thoroughly enjoyed. The meat & non meat dishes were excellent and it is a great opportunity to share dishes as well. Full bar and the cocktails were excellent. Highly recommended. Note: Parking can be problematic so if you have a reservation arrive early to find a spot.
