   This was a pleasant surprise. At first it seemed too quiet, however it was 5 p.m. on a Saturday. So was afraid the food was not good. The food was fresh and delicious! We will be back.

   I thought this would be more of a restaurant...but it’s really a bar with a few tables for food. It’s not a bad place. I just thought from the Yelp page it was an upscale restaurant but it was more of a local pub. Nice people...just not what I expected.

   Matt's Grill was a late night find for a next day lunch, and it was great. The food came out hot, and while some portions were a little small, we did order only appetizers and sides so that can explain why. Service was okay, we weren't on a time crunch so waiting a little wasn't a problem, but it wasn't a quick bite. Overall, lunch was great and totally worth it!

    We had dinner before an evening theater engagement. Our waitress was very attentive, efficient and made sure that our experience was a positive one. The menu options were nicely varied and there was quite a bit available at a reasonable price, especially for NYC.

    Wir hatten an unserem letzten Abend in New York das Vergnügen hier Abendessen zu dürfen. Die Reservierung war mittels OpenTable sehr easy. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und haben auch direkt schon mal eine Flasche Wein bestellt. Das Essen wurde kurz darauf aufgenommen. Und auch die Vorspeise ließ nicht lange auf sich warten, eine Hühnersuppe mit Gemüse und scharfe Chicken Wings die ein wenig zu viel Essig abbekommen hatten, sonst aber alles sehr lecker. Zum Hauptgericht nahmen wir einen Wrap und ein T-Bone Steak, beides ausgezeichnet, das Steak war Butterzart, top gegrillt, einzig die Rotweinjus die es dazu gab passte nicht wirklich, da hätte es schon etwas Kräuterbutter oder eine Zwiebelsoße leichter gehabt. Alles in allem waren wir rundum zufrieden! Vielen Dank

    We made the reservation to follow a performance at Carnegie Hall. We wanted casual, reliable food. We got lost in the cold and rain. Matt's was like an oasis. Warm and friendly. We had a great burger and a cold beer before returning to the hotel. Good stuff. Thanks!

    It's a pleasant place for a casual bite. The salmon was good but the steak was very average. Stick to basic tavern stuff and it should be enjoyable. Nice attitudes all around. The waitress was pretty green

    We had a mediocre lunch here. We were the only customers on a Saturday at 12:30; that should have told us something! The sandwiches were without much taste. The server was nice.

    The three of us were there for lunch before a short and we had Matts Big Burger with fries. The burger & fries were very tasty. The place is very clean, and the staff is friendly. Had a nice three piece jazz-combo playing - - We also had the chocolate mousse cheesecake - very yummy.

    Great meal for a good price! Our server was very attentive but not annoyingly so. The coconut shrimp was delicious, the meatloaf excellent and the steak was enormous!

    Great place, very friendly. Food was good. We were with our kids and they liked the food and the place too. Its was playing baseball at the tv. It was a good diner time.

    Food was ok, not as good as prior meals here. Seemed to be an off night--for example, restaurant had run out of bread although it was only 6:15. As others have commented, staff seemed clueless about Open Table, indicating they knew nothing about the arrangement and would have to wait until the boss came in to reflect dining credit. Servers were nice, though, and attentive.

    My son's high school choir was singing at Carnegie Hall and we needed a nearby place without a long wait for a nice meal in a short window of time. Matt's Grill worked out perfectly. The service was quick and attentive. Menu is not extensive, but the selections were varied enough. My son enjoyed the calamari appetizer and a strip steak that was prepared to the correct doneness. My wife had a salad that featured shrimp. The batter on both the calamari and the shrimp was light and flakey and quite good. My burger was also delicious and cooked to a textbook medium finish. Even with a couple beers, the bill for the three of us did not break the bank.

    We went to Matt's Grill after a show at Carnegie Hall. It was close enough to the venue but far enough away that it was not packed. The food was good as was the service. It has enough items on the menu to accommodate our needs.

    We had an early pre-theatre dinner at Matt's Grill. Nothing fancy or trendy here, just good solid comfort food dining. Good size house salad with an interesting spin on a balsamic dressing. I had the chicken and sausage dinner special which was very good. I'll be back
