Our half-chicken and swordfish dinners were exceptional. The cuisine and service went beyond our expectations. A golden gem in the middle of Newton.
Consistently tasty food and popovers are fantastic starter. Very pleasant meals.
The food was fresh and everything on my plate was delicious. I ordered the Farmers Plate and it had the right amount of food. The potatoes were perfectly crispy and the eggs had a great texture to them. Will absolutely be going back.
As always, the food is great and the service is attentive. We took small plates and appetizers. The crab cake was fresh and flavorful. The cauliflower was to die for. The pumpkin bisque was very good. The burrata was just ok, Central down the road serves a better one. The bread is really good. For desert we shared shortbread and persimmon gelato which was very good. Even the jasmine green tea was good, and they serve it in a pot so it is kept hot. All in all this is a place you can always count on good food - no crazy innovations just well performed preparation with quality ingredients.
The food was good but we found it very overpriced.
I've eaten at this restaurant many times and I am always pleased. The food is excellent, as is the service. It is not too noisy. It has a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The cocktails are great, as well as the wine list. It's a wonderful local spot.
It was fine. Food average and over rated but I live in Boston
First time dining here. Had Jonah Crab toast appetizer. Coho Salmon and Venison Bolognese dinners and chocolate pudding cake dessert. Absolutely delicious!
Delightful atmosphere. delicious mid-week lunch. Popovers are a must!
This was our first time brought our daughter for college parents weekend brunch. Loved the quality and simplicity of the menu excellent mixture of choices and ingredients. All fresh amazing pop overs darling waiter. Would definitely recommend and go back when we are in the area.
I love having dinner at Farmstead Table and previously had a lovely breakfast/brunch there. But yesterday, even though the restaurant was not the least bit busy, the service was slow and the food was only so-so. The menu items were limited and quite eclectic.
Slightly crowded but not noisy. Top quality food with inventive menu. Changes a little all the time as it is based on freshest available local ingredients. I had a brussel sprout taco appetizer that was just delightful.
My friend and I each had the autumnal salad with the grill chicken and it was delicious. Chicken was flavorful and very tender. We were there for lunch and it did get loud. Waitress seemed to have disappeared after leaving us with the check. It took 15 minutes to find anyone - and it ended up our waitress- to take payment.
I love this restaurant! The food is always exquisite but the waitress was rushed and not very friendly.
Way overpriced and pretentious. A salad here is smaller than a side salad anywhere else and twice the cost. The burgers are dry and lack the "melt in your mouth" taste of authentic Wagyu (if there is such a thing in the US. Portions of all the food are very small and very expensive, some even look like finger foods. I know why I have not been back for a few years, and why I will not return. Very very disappointed.
Parking is impossible. Space inside is tight.
When I sat down, my arm stuck to the table! Waitress was less than cordial. But the fish tacos were good.
Fantastic! As always!
The food at Farmstead is always good, but the service...NO. I have dined here 4 times. I keep going back because the food is great for a sweet, fresh lunch with your girlfriend - salad with a glass of rosé, anyone?. But each time I leave, I’m left with the same review. Good food - meh service.
No vegetarian entrees which was disappointing and our server never came back to ask how our food was or offer to get us another glass of wine. He then took out plates when we weren’t even done eating. Not a good dining experience!
Farmstead Table never disappoints. The ingredients are seasonal, local and very tastily combined. The menu is varied with great fish dishes. Loved the menu special cod the other day! This is a great place for lunch, where the service is prompt and unobtrusive, the salads are delicious. I particularly like the Autumn salad which has a wonderful walnut vinegarette. The chicken I had on top of the salad was moist and seasoned well. And lastly the popovers, their signature menu item is to die for!! Light, flaky with a dollop of jam, YUM
I had a delightful Sunday brunch. The menu was small but included both standard brunch fare and unique options keyed to special dietary considerations. All of us commented that our selections were unusually tasty. Service was friendly, efficient, and unobtrusive. Looking forward to trying lunch and dinner menus soon. Do make a reservation; tables were full during most of our meal.
I had the Jonah crab cake served on yummy spelt bread, my friend had a great hamburger and fries. We split an apple tart with raspberries and home made vanilla ice cream. The bread, hamburger roll, pastry and ice cream were all made "in house".
Solid all arou d
Always great food and service and I can hear the conversation!
Nothing fancy, but great service and friendly hospitality. The meal was great...the chef de cuisine is very creative in the way to present local veggies.
Very nice experience!
Great farm-to-table food and outstanding service. The lamb burger was absolutely fantastic, the venison was great, and our server was thoughtful, attentive, and patient!
Ate brunch here on a Saturday. The Shakshuka and the Crab Toast were both excellent. Would definitely come back for dinner sometime.
We very much enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Farmstead Table. The exterior is understated but inside is a cozy restaurant with delicious food. The popovers and burrata appetizers were both fresh and so tasty. My husband had the swordfish and i had the beef tenderloin. All cooked to our liking and full of flavor. We would have stayed to try the desserts but we were in a rush to get somewhere after. We would definitely go back just for the popovers!
The dinner was excellent. They had a new menu, with venison ragu, excellent. The table was in a corner and nice and quiet for a friendly dinner, and the waitress was fun, friendly, and wanted us to stay as long as we liked. A homey evening with good friends, with excellent fresh food. Perfect evening out.
This was a repeat visit for us. Where service was poor previously, this time it was fine. Squash soup and salad appetizers were both excellent. 1/2 roast chicken also fine. Halibut special was dry and badly overcooked. Coffee fine. Overall worth a repeat visit.
Almost everyone loved their meals.. The chicken was a bit undercooked for the patron's taste. But beet salad and regular salad starters delicious. And swordfish special yummy.
The wait staff was attentive and accommodating. The meal was delicious. The restaurant is small, but we met some delightful patrons sitting at a table next to ours. We recommend the restaurant, all the way around.
Consistently good food in a small but pleasant space
Great lunch - delicious food and always nice selections. And very nice ambiance.
Overall very good. Service was at points oddly abrupt. Besides that, lovely experience overall. Will definitely come back.
The wait staff is exceptional, never intruding but always available, and the food is exceptional. The selection of a few items is made difficult given the excellent options available to choose. Taking the time to make your selection is made easier by enjoying their wonderful fresh baked home-made pop-overs and excellent fresh fruit jams and enjoy a cup of the french pressed coffees.
Farmstead is my "go-to" place when I want to meet some old friends and catch up! The food is always fresh; the service great and it's located right in Newton Centre which has lots of shops and stores to walk into afterwards.
Dependable, Consistent and Tasty!
I return to this eatery again and again for a lunch get together, it is a small size restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and whose staff are friendly and accommodating. Food is comsistant, often dietary requests or preferences are accomodated. Each person that I have taken here has enjoyed it was well, fro. My elderly mom to my girlfriends for a proper lunch get together or a taking a friend out for a birthday lunch.
Pleasant, and repeatable....
I've been here numerous r\times and the food has always been fresh and delicious.
