   Although Open Table allowed me to make a reservation for Monday at 7, and although the hours posted on the restaurant door showed open on Monday, the restaurant was closed.

   The service was AMAZING!! We went for a birthday dinner and they were very attentive. But the food was all over the place. Some things were really wonderful, while others fell a little flat. The pizzas were surprisingly delicious. The risotto, homemade pasta and special ravioli were also very good. They did over sauce everything, which surprised us because the pasta was so fresh and delicious. The chicken parmigiana was pretty unremarkable, as were the three different desserts we ordered. Overall it was a nice dinner with my family. I cant express how wonderful the service and atmosphere were. But I do think the kitchen has a few issues to work out.

   We went for mother's day dinner, had reserved a table for 5 , when we got there they said they had no open table reservation and they had called that morning to let open table know they were booked. The manager was very nice about it, but I indicated we drove a ways to get there and had little options. I said we would wait by the bar, he said he would see what he could do. he then put some tables together and got us a table, we actually had 6 vs 5 and he accomodated us. the food was great, the filet mignon was awesome. the appetizers were really good (prosciutto and the calamari) . the service was really good for a holiday - they were packed. I highly reccommend you try this place out.

   I chose this place for Valentines day for me & GF. On entering we noticed the nice ambiance and lot of other couples seated next to us. On asking for menu we were informed about Valentines day 3 course menu...we ordered Calamari rings, branzino, lamb chops and chocolate cake. Service was extremely slow as appetizers took over 20 minutes to arrive. After that main course took over 45 minutes to arrive...at the end of it we were just waiting to finish our dessert and get the hell out. On asking, the manager apologised about slow kitchen and slow service as they were understaffed and many chefs and waiters did not show up that day (Which i dont believe as theres always backup..so i assume its management being cheap) We spent over $200 for 2 people and in the end we just went home and slept after being kept waiting for our food. The only redemption is that the food was decent...branzino was very underseasoned and overall the menu options were very limited. Food is above average but You can have a much cheaper meal with 10 times better service for half the price even in manhattan...would not recommend. P.S: I work in restaurants and we had this slow a service, our management would take strong action and chef would kick our butt.

   Service was outstanding. Ambience was incredible. Both Pasta dishes were lacking flavor, maybe they didn't salt the water. Caesar Salad was delicious. Wine was also delightful.

    The waiter was very nice but gave us the wrong pizza that we ordered as an appetizer and kind of just apologized without offering to take it back and bring out the one we asked for. Then he disappeared after we finished eating, probably went about a half hour until we finally were able to wave him down to ask for the check. We were there for over two hours! He seemed to be the only waiter for quite a few tables so they definitely need to increase their staff. The food was decent otherwise.

    The service was great and the place is lovely but it was totally empty at 8pm, not a good sign....and I got sick from food. Had the salmon and tasted fine. Might have been the rich sauce on the veggies? Afraid to go again... what a shame. I hope it was an isolated incident but empty restaurant might speak louder than my one bad meal.

    The setting is welcoming and contemporary. We were greeted and seated right away. We were approached by our waiter with menus. Our drink order was taken. It took some time before our drinks were served at our table of only two diners. At one point I observed our waiter on his cell phone in the dining area. A real negative! Our food was fair. The oil for our salad tasted somewhat not as fresh as I thought it should and it spoiled the ingredients of the dish, which otherwise seemed quite good. The pastas were good, though the chicken in the dish was a bit dry and some of the peas in the pasta were hard. Cappuccino was good. As a resident of Astoria, I was hoping to include Portalia as a neighborhood dining spot, though did not experience it as such. Somewhat disappointed, though I think the restaurant has potential to improve. Hoping it does.

    Great atmosphere and the food was high quality. However, the service was sub par and we waited over an hour for our food to arrive while the waiter repeatedly told us it should be out any minute. Meanwhile the table next to us came, ate and left within 30 mins of being seated.

    I was celebrating our three year anniversary and I found the perfect spot. I loved the brick walls and the music was perfect. Nice ambiance. Our waiter was really nice and the wine recommendation he made was perfect. We had honey gorgon zola and pear appetizer and a polenta appetizer. Both were amazing. My wife's risotto was the special and it was great. I had a pasta carbonate with an ostrich egg that I was nervous about but turned out to be excellent. We didn't get dessert. We were already full. But I will go back again.

    It was a bit empty on a Saturday night and we were a bit hesitant but the meal turned out quite nicely. The waiter recommended a nice wine, we had the Pork Chop and Skirt Steak, both were delicious. It was a pleasant meal where two people could have a nice conversation with their meal.

    I booked dinner for 3 to take advantage of the Restaurant week. They do not have separate menu for the event and was charge regular ala carte prices. It was well worth it though ... Good food from appetizers to the entrees and all served by very nice staff!

    Wanted to try a local place while I was in town for the night. Wasnt interested in batteling my way into the city. The food and service were very good. Recommend if your staying out by the airport.

    We were not hungry enough to have appetizers so we only ordered main courses. My skirt steak was outstanding, juicy and delicious. My son had the pork chop and he raved about the cabbage side dish. We were both very impressed by both the food and the service. I highly recommend the place and will definitely go back there.

    We were very pleased with Portalia's. It has a beautiful bar and decor. We were delighted with our entrees. The fish was expertly cook ed according to our order and very tasty indeed! We will definitely be back.

    During the week, Portalia opens at 3. But we found brunch at 11 to be fabulous. Each dish was very high leve, generous, fresh, and delicious. The prices are reasonable. We got great service, with two little ones along for the event. Could not have been a better staff.

    We had a real good time here. We were not rushed. Very accommodating when it can to special requests. Some of our party wanted different type of risotto and no problem...they made it. Even gave half size entrees for appetizers.

    This restaurant was recommended by a friend who has eaten there with her family. It was our anniversary and we wanted to go someplace local. The grilled calamari was outstanding and the branzino was very tasty. The room is very cheerful, an appealing atmosphere. I would recommend it and I would go back.

    I always pass by this restaurant on a weekend. My fiance and I decided we would try this restaurant for our mother's birthday. The food was deliciouss! The tiramisu was also really good. I would definitely go back again. Yummy!

    Our food was quite good and the service was excellent. The owner even came over and talked to us and recommended a wine (and it wasn't an expensive bottle - it was quite good and paired well with our food). Our entire party of five was happy with their food. All of us would return.

    Love, love, love Portalia! This is a neighborhood gem with great food and ambiance. In addition to their regular brunch and dinner menu, they always have great appetizers and entre specials, happy hour (half price drinks and gourmet appetizers at the bar) and wonderful weekend brunch. The staff is more than accommodating and willing to go the extra mile to make their patrons happy. The proprietors, George and Antonio, have a great passion for their restaurant and it really shows in their menu and gorgeous décor. I've been there on date night with my husband, family members and large groups and they never disappoint.

    I went on a romantic date to Portalia. It is located in a nice neighborhood and was quiet which we loved. The waiter was very nice and food was good. Only issue was that most of the wines my girl asked for were not available. Although she liked the wine she finally had.

    We came here for Fathers Day, this place is beautiful & the food was delicious, the owner is very nice, comes over & talks to you about that place, even brought us our drinks plus everything is super fresh For Apps we ordered the Calamari which was just okkk it was kinda chewy supposedly its fresh though, we also ordered the crab cakes were were awesome, I had the skirt steak that comes w/ salad & potatoes - Awesome! & the drinks are strong ;)The food really was good butttttt.... They had some weird music playing really loud!! We could barely have a conversation & the place was pretty empty All in all good food but I dont think i'll be back anytime soon

    I brunch here often - the best bottomless brunch special with nice champagne and delicious food! Most of the staff has been there longterm and the manager is always on-hand, very friendly and attentive.
