Food is overpriced and service was horrible. Kale salad is made up of 10% kale and 90% mixed greens.
We met four of our Baby-Boomer friends for dinner prior to the Arizona Speakers Series lecture at Comerica venue in downtown Phoenix. Although OpenTable doesn't actually measure the level of comfort w/sound, the sound, initially was unbearable and made ordinary conversation difficult. It was a bit better as the night wore on. The sound levels are an impediment to an enjoyable dining experience. This is not just a Blue Hound issue - it is pervasive and just bad restaurant ambience. On the plus note our service and cocktails and the food itself, along w/a great location in the downtown made us feel like we were in a major metro area, which, hey, we are. So thanks for all the good stuff Blue Hound, but pay attention - all that loud, unbearable music is a not fun. I don't know who enjoys the loud music, I'm thinking it's Mario Batali who originated it for NYC - so please let's be casual Phoenix and bring it down a notch so we can actually connect w/each other during dinner in your great restaurant.
We had a nice time. The food was very good the service excellent. The drinks are overpriced and too sweet.
We love this restaurant and the food was, as usual, excellent. Service was less than in past visits, perhaps because not enough waiters were assigned to our area.
Everything great as always
Our server, Gemma, was a gem.
A little too noisy for a business dinner. Food was great!
food ok, to nosily, Need Canadian Club and Southern Comfort.
Amazing steak and friendly service
Amazing salmon. Great chocolate bar desert. Had good waiters. Really liked my experience eating here.
The food was awesome! Nice bar with lots of quality options. Good downtown location. Reasonably quiet; I was there for a business meeting and didn't have any trouble communicating, but didn't feel like my conversation was audible to everyone around me.
Great seating when no events are happening. Patio rocks for ambiance. Expensive for cocktails. Not cheap for food.
They put us in the bar, very noisy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a fun place. It is attached to the Kimpton hotel and across from Talking Stick Arena. Great cocktails and the service was so nice. Food is very tasty and nicely presented. Shrimp with Grits was yummy.
I loved this place! I came here for a low key birthday dinner and had a great time. The cocktails were perfect, the food is delicious, and our waitress was wonderful.
My second time patronizing this establishment. The food and atmosphere is always great! Selected food from the Bar Menu this time and the Burger and Parmesan fries were delicious. I will continue to frequent this fine dining restaurant.
The food was very good with a great variety for many different tastes.
The cocktail menu is the most extensive list I’ve ever seen!! With so many choices it was hard to pick just one, so of course we ordered several!! The meal was fantastic!! I highly recommend the roasted chicken & Salmon and you have to start off with the cornbread Mandeleines!!
Convenient to Talking Stick Resort Arena - so good for pre post events. The menu is better limited and is more bar food than dinner. That said, my husband had the Pork Shank which was wonderful.
First time dining here and we loved it! At first I wasn't sure about the limited menu but everyone in our party ordered something different and we all loved our meal! Our server was very attentive and nice. Desserts didn't disappoint either!
Enjoyed the shashito peppers appetizer and the quinoa entree. A tad pricy. Good service. Hi
Fantastic evening! The food was great and Clayton was an incredible server!
A very urban, attractive and lively place. Interesting cocktails, decent wine selection, huge liquor list. Menu has a southern flare, but is a bit broader, probably because ultimately this is a hotel restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive. Some nice small plates for sharing. Definitely worth checking out again.
My daughter is attending school at ASU and this place is a must #EVERYTIMEWEVISIT. The Food is spectacular and the service impeccable from the host, bartender and wait staff. I haven't met the chef yet but I have watched as a table of patrons express their compliments to him personally. Well deserved!
Amazing! Clayton did an excellent job of making our anniversary special!
We had a large group and were excited because the restaurant was recommended by friends who ate there and had a great experience a few nights previous. Our experience was pretty terrible. The drinks took forever to get to the table. All of the food came out unstructured. We didn't even get through half the salad and the entree was on the table. Appetizers were ordered and only one came out, the rest came with the entrees. The waitress was nowhere to be found most of the time. She also made a mistake and said that she would take one of the items off the bill. I told her that was not what I was looking for but thanked her. Then she did not take it off. I didn't even eat the item which she didn't even notice. Very cool looking place but the service made it a terrible experience and the food was just ok. If it would have been spaced out more it may have been better.
Quite the cocktail program. Loved the shrimp and grits. Worthy of a downtown Phoenix.
The girls and I enjoyed this place before our concert and our wait staff was very friendly and prompt.
Melissa was a great waitperson-good suggestions and good service.
spouse and I found the restaurant to be too 'hoity-toity' for our taste; we weren't really the people the restaurant was designed for; more for the younger crowd working in the area, which is OK. We were there on a Saturday night on a weekend with very few people in the restaurant. The food was good but the 'experience' was less than expected. We felt odd, out of place; unlike the next door Breakfast Club where the Bloody Marys ($8) were huge and significantly better than the $12 standard drinks at Blue Hound. There was no warm and fuzzy at your restaurant, which we guess is very 'downtown'.
Food and cocktails were moderately good. Service was fine. Not a bad restaurant but not a great one either. There is not a lot of competition in the downtown area so they are busy. Try Arrogant Butcher next door
This is a really great restaurant that’s near event centers in Phoenix
Fresh, unique menu options. The fresh pasta dish was amazing! I asked for a spoon so that I could get the last bit of sauce from my bowl :)
The food was delicious and the hostess and servers went out of their way to give me a cute table and a great experience.
I took my girlfriend here a few nights ago and thought the atmosphere is very upscale and metro feeling when you come in. It is relaxing with its couches and cozy fire places upon entering, and matching decor are extremely charming. The food, was a little lacking in variety for a dinner menu, but decent. I had a pork shank, that like others have stated, about falls off the bone, and the pork was awesome in itself, but honestly I would have rather been able to have something besides beans to have the shank in- maybe some mashed potatoes? Eh, thats just me... One thing I wasnt aware of before placing our order for dinner, was that they still serve burgers, which are not shown on the immediate dinner menu, but rather a menu sitting at the edge of the table. We only found out about the burger because someone else ordered one and we saw it get brought out... I think for a good craft beer or cocktail this place would be perfect if you are downtown. Ill have to give it another try some day and go for a burger and drink. The shrimp and grits were spicey and flavorful, but would be nice to have some options for pairing it with something besides grits. All and all, I would go back again when I am in the downtown area, but would not make a special trip or call this one of my favorites.
My husband took me to stay at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar for a surprise birthday staycation and we did our dinner here at Blue Hound. Everything was amazing! Service, food, cocktails, atmosphere, price... it was all perfect. Our server Melissa was super helpful making suggestions with food & drinks, thank you!! HIGHLY recommend the cornbread madeleine's with honey butter, YUM. He got the flat iron steak and it was one of the best steaks we've ever had. I got the blackened salmon and it was fresh, cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Later that night we returned for drinks at the beautiful bar. The bartenders are liquid wizards; mixing & shaking concoctions that are crazy good. Mesmerizing just watching them!! We also returned the next morning for their first-ever breakfast service and again, blown away!! The french toast is more like bread pudding... to die for! The straus yogurt is unlike any yogurt I've had. Rich, creamy perfection... insanely good. We cannot wait to return for another amazing meal, soon!! Come here, you won't be disappointed!!
Just a really great place for a nice evening out downtown. The shrimp and grits was fantastic and the service even better Melissa was great thanks for the experience
A group of friends and I were going to an event at the Comerica theater and wanted to have dinner before the show. The Blue Hound was close, so we gave it a go. We ordered several small plates and shared them, had some wine and beer and lively conversation, and walked to the theater in time for the show. It was perfect. There is a good variety of small plates to suit just about anyone, large enough for sharing. They have an excellent selection of wines and craft beers as well as interesting cocktails. Our server was prompt, pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable. All in all, a great choice for the evening.
Great service and excellent food! Our server was wonderful and very attentive and gave great suggestions. The food was delicious and creative. I would highly recommend dining there for any occasion.
Food was awesome and our server, Natalie was the bomb! Super fun downtown Phoenix hot spot!
