Contemporary American
Lenoir Restaurant is a community-first restaurant that focuses on the culinary culture of Texas. This restaurant was opened in January of 2012 by a husband and wife duo of Jessica Maher and Todd Duplechan. The menu is stocked entirely of ingredients that are grown or made locally. Dining is done in a communally at Lenoir in that all of the tables are large benches. Guests are likely going to sit next to someone they don't know, which encourages people to make new friends and meet their neighbors. Lenoir's menu changes seasonally depending on what is growing in Texas at the time. Guests are the restaurant are presented with a three-course prix-fixe menu when they sit. Each course has roughly ten options for guests to choose from, thus allowing them to mix and match a meal that will suit them best. Menu items include kazu-roasted parsnips, rice-crusted whitefish and berbere-smoked chicken

A gift card from a foodie brought us to Lenoir, but our experience there will take us back again. The staff were delightful, the room was charming, and then the food was amazing. I came home wanting to recreate a couple of the delicious combinations. It was a very satisfying experience overall.

Lenoir has been so consistently great through the years. This visit was to celebrate my wife's birthday, and the service was top-notch and the food refined and thoughtful. My wife has an unusual allergy to fenugreek, and they've always been very accommodating and educated about the menu.

The staff were phenomenal and patient, the food was mind blowing. I discovered my new favorite wine and got to blow out a birthday candle surrounded by chocolate 🍫. We had just left Uchi and showed up to our reservation hours late becise I was determined to visit. We had too much to drink and cut ourselves off, but the staff were really kind with us and tolerated our happy celebration as we were the last table of the night on a Tuesday. The fried quail was my favorite and the dessert with cheese I refused to share.

Delicious, inventive food! Only weak spot in our meal was dessert, which was a bit uninspired (especially when compared with the excellence of everything else). We had a raw tuna appetizer which was delectable - very fresh, just the right amount of spiciness, and the "Texas bean salad" which was fantastic & artfully served. We also had the rice crusted fish - again, excellent, delicious, inventive and just about perfect. Nice accompaniments & a little bit of spice made it quite enjoyable and different (in a good way). For dessert we had strawberry pie which was really a mixed berry tart served in what felt like a pre-fab pastry shell - nothing special in terms of fruit and the pastry was tough. We also had the carrot cake which really should have been called a peanut cake - NOT what a carrot cake fan would be looking for. We were sorry we didn't have the cheese course instead, since given the terrific savory food items we enjoyed, we're sure it would have been great. Both desserts came with small, tasty gelato scoops. The wine list is large enough and more or less reasonably priced (comparable to other restaurants of this caliber). The ambiance is lovely, with a ring of tables for 2 or 4 surrounding a "community table" that seats maybe 10 or 12. Rustic, with backless stools at the community table which have a handy "shelf" great for stowing your handbag or scarf. The outdoor garden is a terrific place to wait, and the service is VERY warm, friendly, experienced and attentive. Overall, this place could be a total 5 star restaurant if they'd improve the desserts to match the rest of the experience, in my humble opinion.

Wow. This place is very unique in atmosphere and food. The food was succulant and the dining room intimate. Not a place for those who want privacy as there is a good chance you will be dining elbow to elbow with strangers. We loved it as we met a very handsome couple from Minneapolis who were engaging. The servers are knowledgable, not intrusive, and fun. If you are a foodie, this is a must on your Austin check list. You will leave happy and full!

Lenoir is one of the best price-quality restaurants in Austin. The chef, Todd, creates seasonal high quality dishes. The $45 prix fixe is a real bargin. Chris Kelly is a knowledgeable sommelier with creative as well as traditional wine choices and, as we sat at the bar, professional and still warm and charming. What a treat! A go-to place in this foodie city.

Lenoir delivered on a romantic birthday dinner for my sweetheart who isn't much into seafood but loves good food. His British palate makes him more a lamb potatoes kind of guy in my mind, so the explosive unique tastes of Lenoir I think surprised him. It was delicious and French/Fusion inspired. He even enjoyed the one seafood dish in the 3 course plus dessert menu we ordered. Lenoir's great service and special birthday note also made the dinner quite a special evening.

Our first time here and we will definitely return! Our server could not have been nicer. We enjoyed the prix-fixe menu and delicious wines. Our favorites were the pistachio -crusted snapper, marinated goat in a delicious crepe and the flavor explosive dessert - dark chocolate tart with butternut squash center and nutella/caramel drizzle!! Capping off the evening with the dessert Tannat wine was just the right touch!!! The wine garden is simply beautiful and so inviting.

We love Lenoir. We'd only been once before years ago, but my wife remembers one of her 5 courses from 5 years ago and was the sole reason we chose to spend our 9th year wedding anniversary with the staff. The food was wonderful, the server Nick was friendly, warm, and present, and our experience went very smoothly. It will be a fond memory in both of our hearts. Jesse

Not vegetarian friendly, although I was told before going it would be. The waiter said the chef would make a "special" plate for me. I ended up with 3 okra sliced in halves, 4 carrot slices in a spicy sauce on a plate...it was tasty but for the $45 cost, not enough flavor in the world to make it worth the cost. left hungry and went to Torchys for a taco.

What a great find. As per the norm for me, I bounce Open Table reviews off of Yelp and both vehemently approved of this restaurant. The staff is great, and the food was amazing. I highly recommend coming to this restaurant. At 45 per person for a three-course meal, it's at or even slightly lower than what I would expect to pay elsewhere for similar setting and menu complexity. If I ever find myself in Austin again, I'll gladly be back.

We met friends in Austin and we suggested Lenoir based on reviews in Open Table. We were not disappointed! The location is a challenge and the parking is difficult, but it is well worth the extra effort. The plates were well conceived and delicious. The combinations of fresh, locally sourced ingredients (from figs to quail) were creative, unexpected, and terrific. We have spent many evenings in New Orleans and now our standard of comparison is "is this restaurant NOLA quality?" The unqualified opinion of Lenoir is: yes this restaurant could compete with the best in New Orleans.

The food is inventive and the flavors exciting. The only thing is that the habanero noodles can be overwhelmingly spicy. The butternut squash soup was deliscious, the shrimp dish had so many flavor levels that we couldn't stop talking about it. The plating is very well crafted in all the dishes. The service is warm yet professional. The decor is crazy cool. The atmosphere is intimate but not too stuffy. And Nick the cook with the tattoos rules like He-man!

Amazing delicious creative dishes beautifully presented with friendly service. However things could have been paced in a more leisurely fashion. This is a restaurant where you would like to savor the experience. High tables are not the most comfortable. You get the feeling they might be subtly encouraging people to keep tables turning over.

My one disappointment was that we had a reservation, yet were seated at the bar, which has hideous decor. It was late and there were plenty of open 2 tops from which to take in the better part of the decor and would have made for a much better experience as it was a special date.
